@ tretle, I wasn’t referring to the PSPGo announcement specifically – I was referring to things like promising not to be complacent, reducing cost of dev kits, introducing motion controls and a proper use for the PS Eye, not showing CG trailers and using live gameplay, making big surprise announcements, ramping up game support for the PSP, bringing out their big-gun franchise for PS3, showing lots and lots and lots of games, showing lots of exclusives etc etc.
There’s plenty in this Press Conference to address previous criticisms, the PSP Go announcement was almost a footnote in the conference – especially due to the the leak (maybe that was their intention, it was an internal Qore leak after all).
And I never said I would buy it – I’m not really a portable gamer, but if I did get a PSP it would be the Go version. And regular revisions of portable devices without launching a totally new one is standard in the area the PSP operates in – it’s no different to the DS/DS Lite/DSi or the iPod/iPod Nano/iPod Shuffle/iPod Shuffle 2/iPod Nano 2 or indeed the iPhone 1/iPhone 2/iPhone 3. If you want to blame someone for this business model blame Apple!

@gamez4life – Music store was cancelled, the guy that was pushing for it as SCEE resigned shortly after, obviously it isn’t just the consumers which are frustrated.

@94
Ninty and MS managed to mention Europe. Jack could have just tripped in a “The video store will also be arriving in Europe very soon”.

I am lvl 9 on psn and have pretty much all 1st party titles, if you can’t accept criticism due to your blind faith in sony, have fun being sheep.
Their conference was fail. Only uncharted 2 was really good. God of War 3 had collision detection issues, and didn’t show anything that was OMG so awesome like Uncharted 2 did.
Motion control… wow thank god they managed to refine what nintendo brought 3 years ago.

Thank you for providing us with this great show. Even though i’m not into the motion sensoring and the “Hanna Montana”, i was pretty impressed by what was revealed today. It seems that sony had enough content to show, to fill a 5 houres conference. Every second there comes a new announcement in my mind i already forgot. I do love my PSP and PS3 more then their competitors (also have them) and am looking forward to too many titles i have to purchase even if it means starving because of the money.
Again thx to eu.playstation.blog and all its staff, for keeping us informed and making this site multilingual ;-D: Ihr seid die besten!!!
keep up the european interests such as eu-psn-cards and eu-video-store, and let scea know we’re still alive.
thanks

What the hell, really. I must have had the wrong channel on or something. It was a snooze-athon, & then some.

The motion controllers are LITERALLY 2 coloured balls, nothing more. Actually you don’t even need to to buy a controller, but Sony won’t tell you that. The genius is in the software using the PS Eye to do all the fancy maths to get that kind of precision.
I thought it was a great show.

I wonder what that Rockstar game, Agent, will be like and when it will be released….
They showed a lot of games at the show but I´m really disappointed that they didn´t show any new features for psn/xmb or the EU video store. Will they ever release the video store in EU?

Just any news on it would be nice, so many updates coming but the movie store is a big big thing imo.

i was impressed by the motion controller project nice work!
xbox with its controller look ridiculus also because we have this since ps2 with eye toy and ps eye for ps3.
the point is that maybe microsoft is using this technology better alowing user to browse menus only with hands…
when will this be released for ps3 ? controlling the xmb through the ps eye would be very very nice hope someone of sony will read this… i think the ps eye has been a bit forgotten by devoloppers and sony

Sony’s shown some great stuff. I don’t really want a motion controller but I guess it’s nice for those who do. Uncharted 2 is what I want most by far. Which leads me to my question… can anyone confirm if the beta is available to Europe yet? My beta code is not working.

You guys really need to pull the finger out and get the EU Playstation Store up to par with the US. Microsoft has managed it with Live, so what the hell is the problem. As is it makes more sense to buy multi platform content on the 360 simply because I know I won’t get jacked around by SCEE.

@ CartBlanche how come your flag shows as American? I thought you were an Australian living in England? :/ As for the controllers there must be more to it than just the light to get that sort of pecision – you couldn’t get 3D spacial positioning from a 2D camera, and the light colour seemed to play a part in the function of each device. I seem to recall seeing a patent for these same controllers last year and I’m sure I remember it mentioning that it also used the Eye mic somehow using ultrasound, and they must have accelorometers in them to sense tilt/direction.
@ Everyone whinging about Final Fantasy VII, SCEE don’t control the release date of 3rd party software as they have stated many times. If you want to complain about it go to a Square Enix blog and do it. Knowing Europe’s convoluted laws it probably needs to be approved a dozen different times by different countries first.
In America they only have to deal with one language, one set of laws, one currency, and one ratings body (ESRB), so obviously it will be quicker!

Europe would appreciate some dates and news relating to us.
No news of the video store coming to Europe?
No PSOne titles for Europe? When is FF7 coming?
Is PSP Go a simultaneous release or do we have to wait till next year?

I saw it in live, and it was great!!
Congrat. to Sony for that!
we’ll be waiting for it in PS3

So where of Final Fantasy 7, I can see on on the US store yet again EU is left behind while you cater for US players.
The same goes for the Video Store what ever happened to that it’s over a year now since it was launched in the US yet there is nothing in the EU.

Overall I was pleased with what was shown. Motion Control can go whistle to be honest but at least we got a nice list of games to look forward to rather then just 1 or 2 sequals.
One thing Sony needs to do is start treating its number one market i.e. EUROPE like it does with America. Release things at the same time, get all the approval etc… out of the way untill all regions are ready then release.
Also some news on when we can download / rent videos would be good? Adding more providers is great but only the US can use it…..and they are like your 3rd biggest PS3 market!

I used to play some mad air guitar to One Vision by Queen when I was a lad – jumping off the sofa with my mate doing our best Bill & Ted impressions.
Most triumphant!

Everyone relax, take a deep breath. Now, as has been previosly said, don’t bash Sony because we don’t have FF7, bash Square Enix as they decide where they are going to bring it out. And all of you looking for the PSN cards (myself included) should wait until Leipzig at the end of July. Tnen we will hopefully get info on the cards, Vidzone and the video store

Yesterday i was happy with the announced games and the new controller, but..what about multimedia capabilities? a music video store? please..i prefer 2h HD movie instead of 2min of videoclip. Are this the multimedia possibilities?
Last year, at E3, Sony anounced the video download service later for Europe. Later when? in 2010? 2011? never? if they can’t sign contracts with the organizations who manage rights because they ask for too much money..simply say: Sorry guys, we can’t offer movie download service for Europe. I prefer to hear true things instead of waiting this.

I also remember from previous E3, Sony said that PSEye will be able to capture your entire body or image (as Project Natal will do) and make you the main character of the game. Sorry again, but..where? when? in Trials of Topoc? in the aquarium? please. If i REALLY knew what was PS eye instead of listen and watching several E3 i hadn’t buy it. Someone remember some game when your image was integrated into a game with 2 anime girls in it?
Maybe it’s me or maybe i expected too much about this console. Everytime i think at it i’m more convinced i should had wait for PS4…and i’m 33y old.
Games were good..but other things..anyway, i know Sony just want € and nothing more. it’s easy: 1$ = 1 €. That’s profit margin, sure.
Sorry for my comments. You can delete them if you Sony guys think they’re inapropiate.
Regards,
Vince
