Hope you all enjoyed the E3 trailers we put on the store yesterday, there were definitely some great titles shown off. Now though, it’s back to normal proceedings with our weekly Thursday publish.
For those of you who’ve been asking about the release of Final Fantasy VII, I can confirm that we now have the English and Spanish language versions live on the Store today. Although, I have to apologise to those who are waiting for the French and German language versions as we’ve had to delay those versions until tomorrow afternoon.
Alongside the release of FFVII we’ve got a nicely varied selection of content for you this week: there is the great puzzler Trash Panic; for the fight-fans out there we have the demo of Fight Night Round 4; GTI Club gets some additional cars for you to race in; and those Resistance 2 Grim and Malikov skins are now available too. I don’t know if I’ve missed it or something… But when is Wolfenstein 3D coming to the European Store? It seems the American one got it already, and even PEGI seemed to have it listed so I suppose it IS coming to Europe as well. The question is: When?
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 10:34 am by Mike Kebby
You should be able to download the game from the store update next Thursday

Hey Mike, thanks for FFVII and Trash Panic btw. I just wanted to know how easy it is to get first party ps1 games on the store? Don’t you just go through a database and click upload or something like that? How do you decide which PS1 games to put on next? I want Spyro games please. XD
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 10:54 am by Mike Kebby
If only it was that simple
Sometimes there are legal issues that permit certain PSone games from being released, I won’t go into detail as it’s not appropriate for me to do so, but sometimes it’s okay to release a game in one region and not another for varying different licensing or legal issues.

Great update, will be downloading FF7 at some point and Trash Panic (depending if it’s online multiplayer).
Question though: is it possible for you guys to put the size of the download next to the title,(or next to the PEGI symbol) as opposed to clicking download, then our hard drive, then we find out how big the file actually is?
Thanks in advance

FFVII……I’ll have to prepare to lose 48 solid hours of my life again….let me just write a note to my girlfriend…
“Gone to fight Shinra in Midgar….
Back for tea Sunday…maybe Monday if I go for the Knights of the Round…

@stone
I hear you there mate.
God knows how many hours I have spent on that game, getting all materia and levelling every party member up took me about 60 hours on the PS1, about 50 hours on the PC version and now I’ve gone and downloaded it again!!!!

I’m very happy for FFVII, this game is timeless.
Please Mike Kebby, do the best for FFVIII and FFIX, they have so much fans too.
And secretly I hope in the next years, PS2 games in Ps Store too. Because now there are maybe 10% of PS2 games that are available in stores, it’s too hard to find some of these PS2 games.
I think you are aware, that you have an incredible database of Psone and PS2 games, and we are ready to buy these games in PS Store.
Cheers for SCEE team, do your best.

When will the Sony Press Conference be uploaded onto the Store in HD?
Also is there a store update on Friday (today) for the UK?
I thought that this week during E3 there will be content on the the store all week.
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 11:45 am by Mike Kebby
No more updates this week – it took a lot of hard work to get two up this week, but I hope you feel like we delivered you some great content this week!
Normal weekly service resumes from next week.

Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 12:10 pm by X201
Mike, I know its probably not the responsibility of the Store team.
But is there any chance you could grab hold of someone who might know about a Euro release for The Last Guy trophy and DLC patches, and drag them to a keyboard and make them spill the beans?
Its just a bit irritating when Japan and North America have been patched and told when they’re getting DLC whilst Europe is left totally in the dark. We haven’t even been officially told that we will get the patches.
Just confirmation that the patches will come to Europe at all would be a start.
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 12:19 pm by Mike Kebby
I’ve been asking the question about both Last Guy and Blast Factor trophy patches from the appropriate people (because a lot of you have been asking) and as soon as we have some answers someone should be able to communicate the information via the blog.

FINALLY in the German Store
started downloading it
Thank you for that SCEE

Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 2:21 pm by Mike Kebby
We’ve just added the German language version to the stores, however I’m afraid to day we’re going to have to further delay the French language version, as we’ve found a bug in this version which prevents the game from working. We are looking to rectify this matter asap, but it looks like this version won’t be available until sometime next week. I am sincerely sorry for those of you who will have to wait, it is regrettable

10 euro and is not even in Italian. SquareEnix = Fail

@goggio – bit harsh considering i dont even think the original game was released in italian!
238
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:29 pm by Kosada
I personnaly am not specially interested in the french translation of final fantasy 7, the english version would have done. Why don’t we have the choice between the different languages ?
I am especially annoyed by this because I live in England and I can’t access FF7 because the account I created a year ago is locked to ‘France’.
Do I need to create a different account every time I buy a game ?
I understand locking the accounts to Europe – US – Asia – etc… But within Europe we should be able to change the main country.
239
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:32 pm by Gambe1984
@Kosada – the problem being is that every country in the EU has varying copyright and trading laws in relation to digital downloads (its a very grey area)! So in europe SCEE has to lock our accounts to our country in order to trade without risk! Thats also why its against the terms and conditions of the PSN to import software from other store regions using psn vouchers!
240
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:32 pm by goggio
@Gambe1984 – Indeed, for this would have to translate it into Italian
241
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:35 pm by Gambe1984
@goggio – Square arent going to spend time translating a old school game when they have bigger fish to fry *AHEM* FF13 and versus
242
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:36 pm by Kosada
I understand the general idea, but still now that I actually live in England it bothers me to be limited to a set of game defined for a country I don’t live in anymore. I don’t want to have to use two psn accounts.
( thx for the swift answer Gambe ^^)
243
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:37 pm by Gambe1984
You can create a new account with your new address, the simply use it to purchase from the UK store then use your main account to play it. Thats not breaching Terms and conditions!
244
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:38 pm by Gambe1984
Sorry mis-read that, i understand what you mean about the 2 accounts, but its an unfortunate situation which sony simply cannot rectify.
245
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:49 pm by Gambe1984
If it helps though Kosada, like i say, you can create a new account to purchase UK content, i know it means having another account, but you can just enable auto login on startup therefore it shouldnt be too much of a pain, because you have already purchased the content, you arent restricted to using it on that profile.
Profile 1 (French) – Can be used to play Profile 2 (UK) content because the content is activated on the system, not on the profile you purchased it from.
So essentially its like having an invisible back door. Still a pain! But its the only way you can possibly get round it.
Hope this helps >.<

I prefer to have the choice to tbh, My money still good at the end of the day, I can buy games from a shop in the UK and get it send to France so I can’t see why I can’t buy a game on the UK store with a french credit card which is after all a Visa card which is accepted all over the world.
Seriously Europe needs PSN cards
247
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 3:57 pm by Gambe1984
If you live in england, then surely your credit card should be registered to a UK address? If not then its a restriction your putting in front of yourself really. But i do agree with what your saying.
European PSN cards have been dismissed a long time ago due to the fact that all european countries run different VAT laws, thus making working the levels of pricing on them different. They have admitted its a market they want to explore, but simply cant again!
Sony do seem a tad lazy when it comes to these things, but they could be charging you £50 a year to even use the network like some rivals! So its catch 22!
248
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 4:02 pm by Gambe1984
@hobgoblin – “Question though: is it possible for you guys to put the size of the download next to the title,(or next to the PEGI symbol) as opposed to clicking download, then our hard drive, then we find out how big the file actually is?”
I wish a sony advisor/mod would answer some of these questions (you can give me the job if you wish) but the answer is no, because they would have to re-draft the layout of the store, however it wouldnt be difficult for them to put it in the item description! For which i think its lazy that they dont!
249
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 4:14 pm by Kosada
My credit card is registered to a uk address but the address that is checked for the display of games is the account address and the counrty field of this address cannot be changed.
It depresses me to look at this topic and think of all the people who can buy ff7 today ^^
Thanks for your help Gambe.

If it makes you feel any better, i brought it yesterday ;o) lol!
Youll have to create a new profile then a master account for the playstation store then set it to the correct region, only way round it im afraid.
And no prob, all need a little help sometimes! Shame it aint sony doing it though
