Hope you all enjoyed the E3 trailers we put on the store yesterday, there were definitely some great titles shown off. Now though, it’s back to normal proceedings with our weekly Thursday publish.
For those of you who’ve been asking about the release of Final Fantasy VII, I can confirm that we now have the English and Spanish language versions live on the Store today. Although, I have to apologise to those who are waiting for the French and German language versions as we’ve had to delay those versions until tomorrow afternoon.
Alongside the release of FFVII we’ve got a nicely varied selection of content for you this week: there is the great puzzler Trash Panic; for the fight-fans out there we have the demo of Fight Night Round 4; GTI Club gets some additional cars for you to race in; and those Resistance 2 Grim and Malikov skins are now available too. It’s also a pleasure for us to feature the first batch of downloadable tracks for Rock Band Unplugged for our PSP users.
It doesn’t stop there though; see the full list below for more.

Sony is just lazy, Microsoft can sell cards, Nintendo can, Most MMORPGS in Europe sell game cards so why can’t Sony.

Soooo disappointed ! One more week to wait for FF 7 whereas everybody has it on the Store ? And you find a bug at the last moment when releasing ? You should fire the QA guy responsable of this. Another reason why i never post here, never play online with my PS3, your content is cheap, your game online is cheap, and all the inferior versions…Wake up Mr Sony !
Nothing personal Mike, it has to be said
Posted on 5 June, 2009 at 5:11 pm by Mike Kebby
I can certainly appreciate your frustration KarmaDim – the reason the bug was only found so late was because the whole team were literally working to the very last minute before yesterday’s publish, I won’t go into details, but we had do a lot of work very late on to meet the release date for the 4th of June. It’s unfortunate, but we did our very best to try and meet everybody’s expectations this week.

@Alicomb – the reason Sony have problems selling cards is because they sell everything in the currencies for that particular country, yes its lazy! Buts its far more complicated than your trying to make it out to be.

ok we will wait (as always) but I really hope it will not take the same way as Crash bandicoot 2, coolboarders 2, silent hill,…
we are counting on you…

Thanx for your response Mike, I didn’t mean to be rude…But you’re so right, i’m so damned frustated ! The announce of the (re)issue of FF 7 was so…sudden, i admit i’m like a child waiting for Santa Claus now. C’mon guys, go back to work !

I know you didn’t, don’t worry about that
We have to ensure that we’re always striving to please our store users, and it’s a challenge of course, but one we relish!

Hello! I think we Italian users would like to know why FFVII has been localized in all major European languages but ours. When the game was originally released (1997?) it was in English and Spanish only, so these translations are new. Is there any chance to have a patch someday or been able to download the best game ever in our language? I don’t see Italians paying for it less than Germans and French, so why should we be treated differently (I’d dare to say “worse”) than them? Hope I’ll get answer, thank you so much.

Can I ask why the South African Store doesnt have Guitar Hero DLC on? We are usually exactly the same as the UK store, except when they get Guitar Hero DLC, it doesnt come onto our store. Id really appreciate it if you can find out the reason behind it and hopefully sort it out. Thanks!

I finally bought it yesterday at 23:58 pm
I was testing it on PS3 for some minutes only (I had to work today) and this afternoon I’ve gone to buy a 4GB Memory Stick for my PSP (I had a 1GB Memory Stick, and Final Fantasy VII is bigger). The game looks great on the PSP.
It’s been one of the best contents in the Store until now since the opening of the service.
Now… the problems I’ve found:
- The PAL version is the same as the one in CDs (as expected), so it goes at 50Hz (instead of the 60Hz of the US version). I thought you would solve this problem for the new TVs.
- The Spanish version has the same translation ans the one in CDs (as expected, again). This translation had A LOT of mistakes. I would have been nice if that was fixed, but I understand Sony and/or Square did nothing about that.
- In the PSP, if you choose “Zoom”, you can see the image without deformation, but you loose 4 or 5 pixels in the top of the image (an option to move the screen up or down would be great), and if you choose full screen, the image is deformed a lot (because of the black screen on the top and bottom of the image in the PAL version.
P.S.: sorry for my English.

I quote completely the post 263 of my compatriot Elim_Garak, and I would add that in italy publish FF VII on the store does not have any effect…
instead, translate the game would bring revenue with little effort…
wasted opportunity SCEA/Square!

Why are your prices still what I’d consider outrageously expensive?
Why can’t we have a ” demos” category on the store?
270
Posted on 6 June, 2009 at 9:28 am by ProphetOfRage
Agree with FBB.
Prices are too high and I would also like to know why we can’t have a demo category.
A lot of people have been asking for one for a long time.

agree with 265.
specially the 3rd point of attention is too bad. i’d like to play ff7 as big as possible, but the ‘moved’ position in the zoom-mode isnt right (losing some game-pixels on the top, and adding some black-pixels on the bottom of the screen). any chance on fixing that somehow?

@Elim_Garak
When the game was originally released, in 1997 on PSone, it was in English, Spanish, German and French ( a really poor translation, as in spanish apparently :\ ). But that’s right, it’s strange there is’nt an italian language version…

Amazing. I didn’t have time to post and thank Sony for including finally Final Fantasy VII in the store. I just love this game. I have a few original games but I downloaded as well. Now, I’m replaying it on my PSP. Sweet!!
I hope Sony includes more classic psone games in the future.

I have one question to Mike Debby:
When does the Settlers of Catan come to the PSN? I heard it was released for the Japanese PSN already in January this year.I ask this because my girlfriend ask me this same question everyday.
I know also that if it is released in Holland it will be a great hit because everybody plays settlers of catan here.

I can’t beleive that such a big and experienced video games company commits this horrible FF VII mistake. No serious games company does debugging just 3-4 days before release. There is no excuse for this. All you had to do is to announce a reasonable release date and everybody would have been happy to wait, SCEE customers are already acustomed to waiting weeks after US release.
This also illustrates a big communication flaw, and the “…I won’t go into details” in the last comment of Mike Kebby shows just that.

Hi every one, waiting is so frustrating… especially without knowing the FFVII release date on the french store…
please just tell us if a date was defined?!?

It is really pity…

Hi all,
still no answer?!? Thought it was an official Playstation blog… The delay is more understandable than no communication. Hey guys, no answer since ten days?!?
Sounds like Sony doesn’t care about its french customer, does it?
I do not want to be unpleasant, but our “anger” is justified.

Will FF VIII be released on the playstation store?
Its my favourite game ever and i wants it

Posted on 23 June, 2009 at 11:11 pm by NeGwo
frenchies are the FFVII forgotten…
for summurize quickly:
FFVII: not released on FR store (no knew release date)
tales of vesperia: xb360 => released, PS3 => no knew release date
star ocean: xb360 => released, PS3 => no knew release date
dragon quest: PS3 ??? even no rumour…
White Knight Story: 2009, but when exactly?
FFXIII: no more a Sony exclusivity
a silent official playstation blog for almost twenty days…
so if you don’t want to tell us, the RPG fan, the FFVII release date, then tell us why should we keep the console “I sold a kidney to buy it”?
PS:I do not wait for answer, not on this blog
