One of the biggest (albeit not necessarily the most surprising
) announcements during the PlayStation Press Conference at E3 last week was the official unveiling of the brand new PSPgo.

We know that you have loads of questions about this new slidey version of the PSP, so we’ve invited the PSP Product Managers here at SCEE to post an update on Friday and tell us everything they can about the handheld.
If there’s anything you’d like to know about the PSPgo, post your questions as Comments below and they’ll answer as many as they can on Friday.

£179.99 seems a good price point for me. I think most people agree this would be a reasonable price. £229.99 is far too much.

Hi,
1) Is the £229.99 price (shown on my retailers sites) a fixed one for the UK or will this differ?Considering they said at the Conference it will cost 249.99 EUR which is £215 and $249.99 is £155!!!
2) With UMD films now not working on this, will there be a video store in SCEE territories from launch of this new model?
3) How will our old UMD games transfer over to the new PSP GO? Postal return, unique code, over the internet???
4) Will Trophies ever come to the PSP GO or 3000?
5) Will Download games be priced well compared to other retailers who sell UMD Games quite cheap?
6) How will USB Peripherals work e.g GO Cam, GO Explore etc… ?
7) Is Gran Turismo 5 Portable being released on the same day as the GO – that impression came from E3?
9) What hardware improvements have been made on the go or system differences to the 3000?
10) Battery Life compared to 3000?
Lastly,
11) Will I find this is just a newer model or alternative to the main PSP and a new better PSP Model that is not as portable will be released within the next year??

Considering the large capacity of the internal memory how many games can that hold on average?
Furthermore if I fill my PSPGo how will I manage the games to make space for new ones? ( ie redownload titles that I have had to delete/store to flash drive etc)
Thanks

I would like to know if all the accessories will be available in the UK? and what sort of prices? mainly the cradle, its nice to see an official Sony cradle.
Oh yeah, what funk is up with the UK price!!! Come on Sony, show us Brits some respect!

@ Komond_Deckard – read my comment it’s not €80! The European cost PRE-TAX is €205 – $249 at current ex rates is €179 – so the difference is only €26. And this is just at today’s rate not taking into account any hedge funds they may have in place.
I think most manufacturers will tell you it’s dearer to distribute to the EU than to the US, even from China. There’s a whole load of extra logistical issues to consider – be it printing the instruction book in all languages, having different SKU’s to cover the different versions, dealing with multiple wholesale partners etc, dealing different tax/duty laws etc.

I have another one:
Why decide not to add a second analogue on there? Theres plenty of room for one and its pretty easy having multiple control schemes in games for the older systems to still play without any bother.

I’ve just thought of another question -
The PSPGo seems more aimed at the US market given their much larger catalogue of digital content – if the PSPGo is coming to the UK/Europe could you give us an update on where you are up to with bringing us the Video Store (as in movies/TV)?
With a certain other competitor announcing support for 18 countries and instant 1080p streaming it’s starting to make you look bad!!!
Even if you can’t announce anything, at least tell us if more info is coming soon – like at the Leipzig Games Convention.

If the replacements for my UMD games are not available for free then you will not be getting a sale from me!

I believe that the other posts detail all the burning questions I’m sure everyone had had regarding the PSP Go. There is one detail though which I believe should be queried.
It has been mentioned that Sony is looking into allowing UMD’s to be converted onto the PSP Go in a digital format. Since the PSP Go has both internal memory and a slot for micro memory cards it has to be assumed that you will have the option to convert onto both the internal memory and onto a memory card.
In turn this would allow UMD’s to be converted onto the normal magic gate memory cards used for current PSP’s (1000-3000). Unless somehow the converting software can identify different types of memory card this would mean the PSP Go has even less credibility for those who already own an existing model. And even if a workaround for this problem can be found, wouldn’t it discredit Sony even more so than the extortionate price?

Only one question and I really hope SCEE will respond to this one :
- When will be available the PSN Cards for Europe ?
It’s unfair for Europeans who don’t have credit cards for buying on the PlayStation Store…
Take this in consideration SCEE or PSP Go sales won’t be important…

@ Gekidami, I agree – they did give a reason for this they said they wanted parity across all versions so you could play a PSP game on a PSPGo or a PSP-1000. I sort of understand this, but I still think it’s a mistake – Nintendo have no problem with adding new functions to the DSi that mean in future there will be some DSi only games.
They could have still added it and have PSP/PSPGo games but also select download only PSPGo games – I suspect they’d probably not be a big enough market for devs to do PSPGo only games or think up multiple control systems (although they managed it on Resistance Retribution depending on if you were playing on PSP or PS3).
Personally I think a touch screen (even if only for XMB/video/internet/skype navigation) would have been a better feature – especially given that the keypad can be closed away when not playing games.
Surprised SIXAXIS hasn’t made its way to the PSP either, it seems more useful on a hand held – just look at the iPhone.
I guess all these are going to have to wait until the PSP2 though…

Good afternoon,
1- Surely the most important question. Where are PSN Cards?
With the introduction of digital distribution on the PSP Go, it must be said that PSN Cards are now needed more than ever. In the SCEE territories, Apple can sell iTunes cards, MS can sell MS points, and Nintendo can sell Wii points.W hy can’t Sony sell PSN cards?
2- To my eyes, the PSP Go is the exact same system, for the fourth time. The one and only true difference is that you cannot trade, rent or sell games anymore. Why would i drop my PSP1000 for a PSP Go ?
All the best.

Thanks for that O_Juice.
I shall skip this one in that case, I hardly ever use my current PSP so no point buying the same thing again especially if UMDs will continue to be supported.
I suppose I could then ask, why didn’t they hold off on the new features until the next gen PSP, rather than add to an old product which already has a large back catalouge of games and movies on UMD discs?

A couple of questions,
*How many UMD games will be available to download for PSP GO?
*How will people/Familys without a internet connection buy and download games for PSP GO?

Posted on 9 June, 2009 at 1:47 pm by Halba
All right here are few questions.
1) Can we expect some bundles at launch? Like PSP Go with Gran Turismo download voucher?
2 Will the old and upcoming PSP titles, be available do download at the day of release?
3) Can us consumers, expect some kind of sale on psn at the release of PSP GO, for the old content?
And one more obvious question.
4) Can I transfer my PS1 classics and PSP that I have already bought on PSN, to the PSP Go?

Round 2 of the questions.
PSN Cards, when (not IF notice) and why the wait.
Video Store, when? Since we no longer have UMD films

So, you want questions uh? Ok, this is the part i like the most!
So here we go:
- Why, in Gods name, this PSP is priced $249.90 (USD) and €249.90 (EUROS)!?
Are you making fun of people, consumers!? Seriously, can you (sony) be honest once?
See for yourself with your own eyes the brilliant ideia of yours:
Live rates at 2009.06.09 12:47:54 UTC
249.90 EUR = 348.873 USD
Euro United States Dollars
1 EUR = 1.39605 USD 1 USD = 0.716306 EUR
–
Live rates at 2009.06.09 12:47:54 UTC
249.90 USD = 179.005 EUR
United States Dollars Euro
1 USD = 0.716306 EUR 1 EUR = 1.39605 USD
–
So, after this do you really think you’re being fair to EUROPE!?
(probably i’ll be ignored with this question but hei, it’s sony, i’m used to)

I’d like to know:-
- Size/dimensions
- UK price
- What connection sockets does it have and which (if any) existing PSP peripherals will work with it?
- Will you be able to use a PS3 control pad through the Bluetooth?
- I already have the original first model PSP and have a few games that I’d like to play on this. With there being no UMD drive, is there any way to do this without having to spend more money on a digital download? e.g. getting a free or discounted download if you can provide proof of ownership of the game on UMD.

While the focus seems to be on the games and that they will be available as a download on release date from the PSN Store. What about movies on UMD? Are they being discontinued altogether or are they also going to be offered digitally from the PSN Store?

Are the retailers guessing the price or have you told them how uch it is?

If I buy one it will almost entirely be to replace my very well worn PSP-1000 (i.e. it’s starting to fall apart), so the most important question for me is how I’m going to be able play the games I already own on UMD – I’ve put 50+ hours into Crisis Core and it’d be nice to carry it over rather than having to break out the beast that is the PSP-1000 to play it.

My son has spent much of his limited, and in his particular case, hard earned pocket money – through chores, on psp games and various other paripherals. So even though he would love a New PSP GO on oct 1st, he just cant afford to replace his generous games collection, being only 11 years old…
I know you have plans to address this as has been previousely announced, i just wanted to know if these plans wil take into consideration the PSP’S younger audiance and thier much more limited financial status?
Also are their any plans to reward those who have already paid upto £480 by upgrading to each new PSP iteration since release, much like Apple and many other companies do (IN THEIR UPGRADING POLICY), as a way of saying thankyou to its loyal customers?

What are you going to do with the german PSN-Store?
As you know we don’t have access to content which is is rated over 12.
We do need an age-restricted area on the PSN-Store where we have to authenticate our age, as i would not buy a system where i cant buy games that are rated 16 oder 18.

Hi, I am from Slovenia and I was wondering when or even if are you planning opening the PSN store to us and a few other countries. Because without access to PSN, the PSPGo is useless and the Playstation brand is pretty big here in Slovenia. Or just give us access to other PSN stores (read: dont deny our credit cards on other stores)

just one more pertinent and obvious question…..
love the new Mediago interface for the PSP etc by the way, but its approach and layout raises an obvious question, are we ever going to have the ability to buy Music from the Playstation store to put on our PSP, Sony should really be on the cutting edge of selling music, as it is after all the biggest owner of music labels in the world, but recently there has been word across the internet that sony will not be offering music from the store, is this really true,or are there plans to offer music much like the other companies do like Apple and nokia, etc, etc do for their customers?
Some hope on this front would be greatly appreciated.

My question is:
The PSN Store isn’t present in all of the world, not even in all 27 European countries. With the full digital download service for the PSP Go how can the unprivileged countries benefit from the PSP Go if we don’t have PSN Store? I know that there is the PSP 3004 but I already have one, and I really want a PSP Go, I love the concept, I love the design, it is superior to the PSP 3004. So: how can I get content without PSN Store here in Romania?
Second question, not PSP Go related but PSN related: why don’t you give us a global PSN store for the countries where there isn’t a PSN Store? We really don’t need localization, because we play our games with one of the 4 main languages of europe anyhow, because we never got localization. So a global (or at least european) store would be a good idea.

I think my questions will echo most here but here goes:
1) With the introduction of a 100% download service, will Europe now receive the much demanded PSN cards?
2) Can you please confirm what the actual RRP of the PSP Go will be for the UK?
3) Will the entire catalogue of PSP games be available to download? If not then the PSP 3000 will appeal to me more as the catalogue will be much larger.
4) Will games that have previously only been released in the US for the PSP be available in Europe as a digital download this time around?
5) Will the white variant of the PSP Go be available in Europe or the UK at launch?
Thanks for your time.

one qeustion that i think everyone would like to know about: (probably asked before though)
example. i Prince of Persia Revelations on UMD, however, i would like to play it on the PSP Go, so untill now, it seems i have to buy the downloadable version too.
so i was thinking, can you make some service, where you type in the games’ Serial number, and then you can download it?
or maybe a UMD-ripper accesory that you can buy for the PSP Go (which means it is NOT USB, thus you can’t “pirate games”, since you can’t connect it to PC…)
sorry, have a habbit of giving solutions, rahter than requesting.
but, ok, is it possible to get my games that are on UMD, transfered to PSP Go?? in any way?

I know that these questions have no doubt been brought up a lot in this thread, but I would like to ask these questions once more just to stress it that little bit more:
1) At e3 Sony stated that the PSPgo would be priced around the same as the original release of the PSP. Here in the UK that original price was £179.99 – this was even the price shown (for the briefest of times) at http://www.game.co.uk... only for the official price to be announced a day later at £229.99, and sites that had the console up for pre-order shot up to match it. I would like to ask why is it that one thing is said only for another thing to happen?
2) I have heard that it has been mentioned by Sony that there will be a method for those who own UMD copies of games will be some way to get a digital copy running on the PSPgo, is there any updates on how this will work?
Cont…

Posted on 9 June, 2009 at 2:47 pm by locus2k1
Sorry, last question:
3) Will the digital copies come with competitive pricing? Will we see a cheaper price then we would have at retail stores? considering more and more online stores are now sending out games that can arrive a day before release and at discounted prices, will Sony try to compete with the prices to encourage customers to purchase direct from their own store instead of us buying from a retailer and then receiving a digital copy (referenced to question 2).
I apologise if I sound in any way sceptical or against the new device, having been looking forward to a PSP version like the PSPgo being released I would want to find out as much as possible before finalising a pre-order.
Many Thanks

Besides what was noticed, (Bluetooth, 16 GB flash, no UMD, etc) are there any other hardware difference from the 3000.. Is the screen the same? Is the WIFI card the same? Internal memory the same?
Also I just watched the trailer for Invizimals… Very cool game using the camera. Will there be another camera for the Go? Would have been cool if a camera was added say behind the screen once it’s flipped up.. that would have been very cool.. just a thought especially since the add-on was only a 1.3 MP camera.. right?
Also what about the GPS add-on?
Thanks for taking the time to take our questions!!!
