One of the biggest (albeit not necessarily the most surprising
) announcements during the PlayStation Press Conference at E3 last week was the official unveiling of the brand new PSPgo.

We know that you have loads of questions about this new slidey version of the PSP, so we’ve invited the PSP Product Managers here at SCEE to post an update on Friday and tell us everything they can about the handheld.
If there’s anything you’d like to know about the PSPgo, post your questions as Comments below and they’ll answer as many as they can on Friday.

One of the issues is the price, because I’m pretty sure that at E3 it was said that it would come out at the same price the PSP originally came out at, which I think was £179.99. That price would seem at least reasonable to me since the flash memory will add quite a bit to the overall cost, but the components must have got a lot cheaper in the years it’s been out. Except obviously the new case.
The UMD solution that is apparently coming is also a big deal to me so I hope you have something simple and workable.
Finally, your current pricing of downloadable games is pretty silly in my opinion. Surely it costs less to distribute online with no packaging and everything. So it seems weird to me that the Playstation store versions of patapon, locoroco, resistance retribution and others are actually more expensive than buying them from an online store like GAME. In the case of patapon I payed £5 less for a UMD, and locoroco 2 was also £14.99 compared to £19.99 on the store.
It made the decision on UMD vs download very simple for me, even when I want to back download so you have to do a better job there.

Hi!
1) What about people who have not a good internet connection to download games from PStore and who want to buy PSP Go?
2) If I have bought a game from PStore (non-UMD), can i play on PSP Go in this game without repeated payment? Also must i pay for transfer UMD disk to non-UMD to play game? How much? Why? Because i already paid for game! If i must pay, why You don’t cut price for PSP Go?
3) In Your opinion, how much years will support PSP-3000 or PSP Go or a new PSP with this hardware by Sony and developers of games?
4) What about support PS2 games on PSP? It’s possible, or not?
5) PSP Go as Bluray player for home… is really to do it?
6) Now Playstation is very bad support in Russia… very small games was trasnlated for PSP (also PS2, PS3)… When i can see more translated games? What do You do for it in 2009 for good launch PSP Go in Rusia?
7) Why price for games is very big? Why the game on foreign language (without russian) and with small size (max 1.8 GB) cost much more than for PC?
Thank You!

OK, so the first comment was too long, so here go my questions in short versions:
* Why do Europeans get to pay more? 250$ != 250 Euro…
* Why no 2nd analog stick again? Would have loved to finally see one.
* If there will be bundled versions of the new PSP with games, etc…,
will they be pre-loaded onto the systems memory, or do you get a code to download them later?
* What other stuff will the PSPGO! ship with? Like cables, memory stick etc… (I just remember me buying the PSP3000 GoW bundle, and there was not even a memory stick included…)
Looking forward to seeing those answers on Friday
Keep up the nice work!

Will download games be the same price as their UMD counterparts? If so why is that?

1) Will there ever be a tool comming from Sony, which will enable to grab PS1 games on our own and play them on the PSP? From a business point of view I already know the answer: no.
2) Now for something completely different: are the venerable people from the SCE London Studios working on a Colony Wars PS3 title? I already asked this question on the old semi-official blog, but I guess it can’t hurt to ask again
This however would make sense from a business point of view, because there ain’t any space opera games at all on any “nextgen” console, so instead of launching FPS No.5 maybe this could be a viable alternative.

.)PSP Go will be my first PSP, so i will be interested in obtaining old games released even years ago. How will the pricetag be for those old games, which you can get for just a few bucks today?
.)I dont think that the PSP Go is taht overpriced like others here, but i am interested why there is such a big difference between european and us Price.
.)Again about Prices. How much will cost an average PSP Go game?
.)Will there be games comparable to current PSN games on PS3? Smaller, maybe unique games with also a lower price?
Thats it

Will Resistance: Retribution and/or Rock Band Unplugged come to Playstation Store?
I want them both, and if they do I will buy a PSP Go, if not I will buy a PSP 3000.

3 Questions from me, but im buying anyway:
1: Seeming as the slot for Go! Cam has been removed, will there be any other camera add-on coming out? I use my Go-Cam alot (have 500+ pics since last year) and would love a new camera for go
2: Will we be able to charge and TV-Out at the same time?
3: Will large gamesmemory size be coming to the PlayStation Store? (CC:FF7, GTAs etc.)
Opps, one more, is the UMD trade-in to digital offer going to be in the UK?
Thanks for taking your time to answer these questions if you answer them. Like i said, im buying day 1 w/ GT PSP!

Why 802.11b Wi-Fi? I understand the PSP go is a focused device, not attempting to be everything the DS and iPhone are, but for the premium price, and as a download-only device it should at least be 802.11g. I’ve downloaded from the PlayStation Store on PS3 at 3x or better the rate my PSP-1000 is capable of.
What Bluetooth spec is the PSP go using? 2.0/2.1+EDR?
What addition System Software features will the PSP go have, which are exclusive to the PSP go?
Is the multipurpose port (USB, video out etc) capable of digital video output like HDMI?
Will the PSP go be packed with any PSN Store download vouchers for games like Gran Turismo + Gravity Crash? Launching with a few, like the 160GB PS3 did would make the price a lot easier to swallow.

‘Will Resistance: Retribution and/or Rock Band Unplugged come to Playstation Store?.
Resistances already on the store im sure, but then again that’s the UK one.
1 more question from me:
My friends internet type is supported and works on PS3, but it doesn’t on PSP. To make the go better for him, which he wants, he’d like the net on PSP, so are you looking into expanding the amount of network types supported on PSP? If yes, we might be finally playing Syphon Filter online together

1.
Will PSP games now be optional UMD or voucher purchase? For those of us who want to upgrade to to PSP GO! but do not have or feel comfortable about giving out credit card information.
2.
Will their be special offers or discounts for people who trade in their old 1000-3000 PSP for the PSP GO!?
3.
How realiable or sturdy is the new machine?
4.
How will the Bluetooth functionallity be used?
5.
Does this model include all features of previous models? I.e. mic, Skype etc.
6.
Will the interface be indentical theprevious PSP models or will it be more similar to PS3?
7.
Give me 5 words that will make me want to make the change to PSP GO!

Will the bluetooth be able to connect and transfer data with phones? If not at launch, could it be patched in a future update?

1st: Will point-cards released to download the games (similar to Wii/Xbox Points)?
- Because if you don’t, I think you will lose many costumers which aren’t able to own a credit-card
2nd: Which reasons can you name me to buy the psp go instead of the psp3000?
- Because I think the psp go won’t have better graphics
3rd: Do I ‘need’ to buy the psp go if I already have got the psp3000
- Will be there any games which are ‘Only-PSPgo’?
Thanks!

1) I still have a psp 1000, so I want to ask the question: Why should i buy a psp go? (and not because it’s new etc.) CONVINCE ME! because i didn’t want to upgrade from 1000 to 2000 and later 3000.
2) the games will be download only so the price must also be lower then it is these days. What will a psp Go game cost me?
3) which cables/ add-ons will be included in the psp go box?
4) are there any other hardware specs that aren’t reveiled?
5) will there be a new psp (the PSP2) whitin 2 years from te GO launch? (probably i will get no answer but it’s handy to know)
6) Why have you chosen to NOT implement a second stick? a build-in camera? a GPS? or will there be a PSP GO+ available with all the above?
let’s hope to get some answers! looking forward to friday!

Finally, will there be any more PSN functionality on PSP Go? (Friends list etc)

Why did you remove the mini-USB port? Is it because you want people to buy all the accessories again? This is a deal breaker for me.

1/Here’s a good question: Will the PSP ever receive FULL PSN intergration? Including features such as friends lists and trophies would make the PSPGO the most successful and the most specialised handheld console out there. Having a built in wi-fi hub will only add to the ammount of people you will have using Playstation Network.
2/ Are you going to have a game rental system via download. I would personally love to pay to try out a game, but what would also be awesome is if I liked it, the money from the rental is taken from the price of the game i rented and then I buy it for that new price!

Are you gonna sell cases with guides, but without a disc but with codes in it? It’s much more fun to have a real collection.

Thanks

@Teabag_Titan
Your second point is a pretty good idea you know!
Failing a full-blown rental service, how about ensuring that there are demos/trials of all downloadable games with the option to upgrade from within the game (similar to how some PSN games work).

1)how are you responding to pspgo haters?
2)is it going to lanch at £180,same the the psp1000?!?!
3)is it bundled with a accessory or game code for download(like with my 160gb ps3
)
4)how much will the accessorys cost?
5) sony are the best

Love the way Sony is just completely taking the “mickey” ot of all the leaks they had…way to go
I also wish to know about whether there will be a “ripping” tool to pay UMD games on this.
Also, why the hell is it so expensive? :p

Posted on 9 June, 2009 at 3:55 pm by ImaginedBug
This’ll probably have been asked before, but I’m too lazy to read every comment: who decided to set the price for the PSPgo at $249 and then pretend US dollars are equal in value to the British Pound and Euro while (today) $249 = €177 = £153. Or, to put it differently: £249 = $405 and €249 = $348.
Or are we all mistaken and do we in Europe get a better product with more memory and a second analog nub?

WHY DOES IT COST £230 WITH LESS PARTS!??????
And when are you going to slash your Digital Download prices?? There are no retail costs involved and its only a Digital Copy your selling!
128
Posted on 9 June, 2009 at 3:57 pm by Dunk_13
1) the price is said to be the same as the psp 1000 release, is this the £150 (system only), £180 (value pack) or £200 (giga pack)?
2) can i copy my only umds to the pspgo?
3) Will PSstore downloads be cheaper than retail?
4) Will PSstore downloads value decrease in time with retail?
5) When will the Uk get video service?, i would like movies on the go
6) What new features will the new additions add?
7) what features will be lost from the old psps?
9) what are the laucnh titles?
10) will online games use psn accounts like ps3?

I would like to know if the PSP Go will be launched as a bundle with the New Gran Turismo PSP Game. I Have been long waiting this for 5 Years now and i cant beleive i’ll be able to finally play it this year on my birthday
, Anyways if so any Prices in Mind for the Bundle? I think a Bundle would hugely increase the sales for the PSP Go especially for everyone who has been waiting for the Game for 5 Years.
Many Thanks if this gets answered,

Is there any reason why the PSN-Card is not coming to Europe? All your competitors have these paycards.
Otherwhise the PspGo will never have a good position in Europe.
Will there any improvements for the internet browser (PspGo and Ps3)?

the rental idea is brilliant! i would also like to know about movies. i like to watch movies when im on a plane so does no umd mean no movies or will we be able rent/buy from psn. its about time europe got the movie service anyway. and will the vidzone be available on the psp go, im really looking forward to the vidzone app on ps3.
p.s liking that we got our own blog in europe now, keep up the good work.

Is the OS different from PSP-2000/3000?
2) Average price of PSP games on PSstore? (Legacy games, not new ones)
3) Will we be able to trade our UMD games for digital versions?
4) How long is the battery life?
5) How long does it take to charge?

Questions i forgot:
1- Pricing of downloads – will they be rediculously high? Say, £20 even though you can buy it on UMD online for much much less than that? That would be a discernin factor in whether i buy a PSP GO or not – no point in paying more for the GO and then more for games. Keeping my 2000 would be better!
2- Old games on the store – how many do you intend to have on release (roughly)? Will these be priced accordingly – i.e will older games be priced a lot lower than newer ones? And again, will prices on these games be competitive with retailers, or just stick at a single price?
3- PSN Cards – I have no desire for them as my mum lets me use her credit card, bt many others dont have a credit card to use. Will PSN Cards be introdced so that people are able to actually buy games from the Playstation store?
4- Will ALL games launch day and date on the store with their retail counterparts?
That’s about all i can think of for now

Just a simple question (and a not so simple one) from me:
With the diverging PSN store contents across all countries, will we be able to get games in any localization and uncut over the PSN?
Otherwise there would be no way for me to spend more money on a system that does not offer the full range of games in the language desired.
Also other online distribution services take on the clause that a purchased game might become inaccessible if an account got deleted or otherwise rejected access.
How would you ensure permanent access to the purchased software for people who are not willing to buy storage media for backup (as it would somehow beat the concept of having it as digital download).
Or in other words, how will our rights on purchased games be ensured if Sony is controlling the only access to the content and what happens if that access is revoked?

(How) Will you replace my old UMD games with digital copies?
Is there a button/trigger for WLAN, or is it always active? (I have PSP1k, so may already have changed)
Will all features of existing PSPs be retained for the GO? (Like Remote Play, mic, video out, etc)
Will there be a permanent/auto login to PSN, like on the PS3?
Will we be able to view/change our and a friend’s profile? (Like account management on PS3)
What video formats will it support? Subtitles?
Will it be region free (game-wise), like PS3?

Well since Eric Lempel stated that there wouldn’t be comming any trophies to the PSP how does this work with the Sir Howard String or whatever his name is with the fact that PSN should be coming to all sorts of devices. By expending PSN trophies are one hell of a big step.
Because of cheaters Eric said… well that’s just plain dumb. Sony you are one of the world top leaders in the industry. MS had some problems with downloadable games but they can ban people afterwards, so do you!
So my first question is, will they ever come?
Next up the PSN pre paid cards… in Europe the PSP will be quite useless unless we have the cards. Only people with CC cards will be able to buy a PSP… so my second question is:
drumroll…..
When are the PSN pre-paid cards coming?!

I’m sick of everyone here moaning. I just want to say well done for addressing the concerns most people had with the current PSP, namely that the screen was too big and it was much too cheap! We’ve been screaming for a price rise and a smaller screen since the 1000 model. Finally we have it. Well done Sony.

What about people who don’t have a credit card, how do they purchase games onto their psp?

What will Bluetooth be used for? Is connecting your PSP Go! only for transfering files between the two, or will there be other things? And since the Dualshock 3 is also a Bluetooth device, will this Bluetooth chip allow for a Dualshock 3 controller to be connected to the PSP Go! and be used for playing games, like you could in Resistance: Retribution, only with this much simpler solution?

hello…
my question is, will the bluetooth have the ability to transfer files from the PC like photos and music? and it will be able to play music trough my bluetooth headset?
now as for price i also have to disagree with the euros/dollars conversion making us europeans sound like bad consumers and sony is stronger in EU than US so we should deserve some thing for our faithfulness…

In what ways do you plan to utilise the Bluetooth capability of the PSPgo? The original PSP-1000 had an infra-red port that was never used in any official capacity, and it was removed from the PSP-2000 onwards – will we see the same happen to the Go’s Bluetooth?

Like many others, my problem is the price. With retailers listing the machine at £230 and exchange rates implying that that price is likely, how can it be justified, when the machine has a smaller screen and less functions than a model priced at almost £100 less? That’s before you factor in games that will only be available at RRP rather than the discounts consumers see on UMD titles at present. Again, making the Go even less value.
Obviously for £230 I would expect Scarlett Johanssen to present my solid gold PSP Go to me in person, but I feel that’s not the Sony “less for more” way. In the event, then, when I buy a PSP Go and you send someone round to rape me in the arse, who is it likely to be? I’d prefer Jack Tretton, if I get to choose, he seems like he’d be a more gentle lover than someone like Kaz Hirai, for example. He also might stay around for a chat afterwards, or make me a cup of tea.
My final questions relate to marketing. With the astonishing price in mind, just who on Earth are you trying to sell this thing to, and how on Earth are you going to manage it?
Thanks
