One of the biggest (albeit not necessarily the most surprising
) announcements during the PlayStation Press Conference at E3 last week was the official unveiling of the brand new PSPgo.

We know that you have loads of questions about this new slidey version of the PSP, so we’ve invited the PSP Product Managers here at SCEE to post an update on Friday and tell us everything they can about the handheld.
If there’s anything you’d like to know about the PSPgo, post your questions as Comments below and they’ll answer as many as they can on Friday.

If I ever do use up the entire 16 GB of flash memory, will I be able to download games onto the memory card, or can that memory card only be used for music and video ?

Two questions!
Does it have a inbuilt microphone? I see that little “hole” between the analog”stick” and the start/select button… And i wonder if that’s an inbuilt mic like the one that’s on the PSP-3000? Didn’t hear anything about on the press conference or on the interviews about the Go, so i’m bringing my question to the “man”!
My second question is : now when the UMD-drive is gone, will the battery limit become longer? That thing drained alot of battery, so. And now that the PSP Go will feature Bluetooth, can i turn that off? That thing drains my cellphone battery like hell when i turn it on…
And oh, yeah. The price is way too high.

Ok two things:
1.Are our Memory Stick pro’s compatiable with the Go?And if not will there be a way to redownload the content free of charge?
2.Will there be a way to trade in UMD Games for a Download Voucher?

Will there be any limitations to the number of PSP go’s that I can play a game I own digitally on? for instance if I break the console can I put my old games on a new one I buy or if I have games on my current PSP can I copy them to my Go?

Will there be any bundle available i.e. PSP Go bundle with Gran Turismo (voucher for download, game pre-installed, or something like that) and will there be a service available to get already existing PSP games on UMD carried over to the PSP Go?

1) Will there be a Value Pack including the wriststrap, the “protection soft pocket”, and stuff including at that 249(Euro, USD?)?
2) Will there be possible to transfer ALL of my old games to the Go? I have around 10-15 games, and i like having games for real so it would be really nice if you could transfer the old ones somehow to the new system. Like with DVDs nowdays, coming with the movie on the Disc and a “Digital Copy” to transfer to a computer.
3) Will we get the White PSP Go at launch? Please!?

Hi,the PSP Go is amazing in my eyes…But,with the lake of UMD drive, which solutions will be offered for the consumers ? Do you think about Playstation Spots in stores or something like that for buying titles ?
Could we expect a PSN Cards release for Europe at the PSP Go launch ?

I bought 8gb card for my current PSP-2000, and honestly – all of a sudden I feel like I have PSPGo. There is so much space in it and I can buy and download lot of games from PS Store and I don’t need to worry what to do with my UMD copies either. Thank you Sony for such a great handheld console.

Compared to the PSP-3000, you get no resell value for the games you bought through downloading. Will there be a system that refunds a part of your money if you want to *sell* your game digitally?

I’ve been doing a bit of research on the Psp Go, and here are a few questions I would like to ask:
What are the other “Original applications” mentioned in the press release? (such as the clock and calendar) [link:http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/090603a_e.html
Will content be able to be transferred between the internal memory and the M2 card?
Will the PSP Go support download resume and/or background downloads?
What will be available via the game sleep function? (is it the “Original applications”)
Will an audio record option be available?
What will the battery life be like? And will there be a low power usage mode for listening to music? (Such as dedicated processing and screen off)
In regard to dlc, will we be able to merge dlc with the game file, to reduce load times on the dlc content? (for example; Wipeout Pulse)
A design question – Was the button layout inspired by the Ps3 controller?
And finally, for Aus and Nz, what sort of price and release date are we looking at? 1st October with Uk/Us or 1st November with Japan?
Thanks for giving us the oppurtunity to ask questions. We’re all wanting to hear more about the psp go.

Hi there, I just had a few questions about the PSPgo
1. Will the screen be a touch screen?
2. What will the resolution of the screen be?
3. Will the screen for the PSPgo be the same as the PSP3000, or will it incorporate new technology such as LED?
4. What will the battery life be like.
5. Will the system software for the PSPgo differ from that of the PSP3000?
6. Finally, when the PSPgo launches, will the it be bundled with any games or accessories?

Will the new PSP have any of the following to enable it to compete with the iphone……
1. tilt sensors for games (like the sixaxis controllers).
2. any type of voice communication (3G, SKYPE etc).
3. touch screen.
I would have thought its an ideal to marry the SE phones into the PSP

1- Will the GPS, keyboard and Camera accessories be available on the PSP Go ?
2- Will the VidZone be available on the PSP Go and/or on the PSP 3000 ?
3- Will the PSP Go be able to connect to the internet via bluetooth with a mobile phone device ?
4- Will the PSP Go be able to Connect with mobile phone and use so that a game or media player would pause if there was an incoming call, with name, number photo ID of the caller ?
5- Will Mac computers be able connect with the PSP Go for transferring Music, Videos, Photos and Games?

7- Am I asking too many questions ?

I have some question I really need answered:
1. Why do you focus on hardware improvements over Firmware?
2. How come you cant go through the PSP XMB while the slideing part is in? Like, the D-Pad has to be slided out to use it?
3.Will there be a built in mic?
4. Will the GPS, and Camera come to the Go? I mean, they both have Go! in the name, so why cant the camera be built in, and the GPS is still outside? Seroiusly, Americans have a camera feature but cant buy the camera.
5. Why is there ne second analog stick?
6. Will DivX be supported?
7. (My biggest). If you are trying to stop piracy on the PSP, and the PSP go is Digital only, wont it encourage MORE piracy? Think about it. What if they dont have Wi-Fi to use the store? They’ll sell the Go, get a Phat/Slim (200 only, 3000 cant be hacked yet), hack it, and start downloading.
8. Will there be a video store for the PSP store?

Will the PSP Go have a friends on PSN?

What if you run out of memory and you want to put another game in? Do you delete it and you cant recovry it no more or do u put it in the computer. If thats the case it will create more piracy all you do is put it on rar file and upload it and if the code never expires then people will upload them and BAM more piracy.

How can you justify the price point of the PSP Go when it is widely reported it costs less than the PSP to produce?
Will you introduce money cards you can buy to add to PSN?
If I buy 3 PSP gos do I have to repay for the games?
Any truth in the rumour of a subscription service for games?

I love this new design, I would swap my PSP-1000 finally, I hope it will be available in Hungary, too. My question is how I will buy and download games and apps as there is no PSN Store available in Hungary and we can not use West European stores legally?

Yay for the PSP Go!
I have a few questions:
1) Will there be a significant firmware update to go along with the launch of the psp go – ie. things that would benefit a digital only console such as PSN friends-list, BACKGROUND DOWNLOAD, improved web-browser
2) Will a camera accessory be available so we can play games like invisimals on the psp go?
3) Will there be a send/receive function for file sending via bluetooth?
4) Are digital games going to load faster on the psp go than the psp 3000
5) Is the new memory stick faster than pro duo?

Currently, you are only ‘officially’ able to make purchases from the PS-Store using a credit card, and not a very high percentage of people (or PSP Go adopters, when it comes to that) have, or will get credit cards for use on the PS-Store.
Because the PSP Go is obviously download only, will SCEE release PSN cards in Australia, so that more people are able to buy PSP games? If PSN cards aren’t released, not many people are going to be able to buy games for use on the PSP Go.
I have worked a fair bit on that theory, so it would be good to get some feedback on that particular topic.
Thanks, Michael

During Sony’s press conference they said that the PSP Go would have the original price of the PSP-1000. In England this price was £180, but from looking at the price in € it works out to be approximately £220. My questions are:
1) What will the cost of the system be in the UK?
2) If it is above £180, why is it more than the original price as you said it would be in the conference?
3) Why does it cost a large amount for in Europe compared to North America?
4) Will retail stores receive redeem codes for games, rather than only selling games through the Playstation Store?
5) Will God of War: Chains of Olympus be released as a digital download? Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII?

Just two quick questions.
1: What is the price in AUD and NZD
2: How (and if) will UMD games will be transferred over to the PSP Go.
Those two things are putting me off buying one. As long as it gets a decent price (sub $300AUD preferrable) and if I can get my games over, I’ll most likely upgrade.

Can we please have a price for Australian consumers?
Further to that, will the “good-will,” program for UMD owners be brought to other territories?”
Finally, can I have one for free please?

1) How much will games cost for the psp go online compared to recommended retail price of £29.99? As from what I understand from reading OPM UK 5% of this RRP is for manufacturing costs, 20% goes to retailers and 5% goes to retail placement fees. None of these cost should be necessary as retailers won’t be involved in selling these games as i am guessing they will be only available on psn. This would suggest a price of £20.99???
2) How will promotional offers work on downloadable games? As in retail there may be a sale, (i got LBP for £17.99 for example compared to £44.99 RRP)??
3) Why is the price of the psp go so much more than the psp 3000, i mean in a manufacturing perspective? as I’m sure the disc assembly for a UMD must costs more than the 16gb of flash memory?
p.s. if the RRP of the psp go is converted from USA price (around £150) i think that’s fair.

First of all the price seems too high for something that does not appear to be greatly enhanced.
And lastly after all the requests i cant believe that it has NOT had a second analogue stick added, this is crazy and one of the things the PSP REALLY needs.
I have a PSP1000 and PSP3000 but really cant see any reason to update to this

Hi,
1.- PSP Go has bluetooth, like PS3 Sixaxis and Dualshock 3. There is any way to use those controllers with the new PSP? (at leats, when we are at home
)
2.- Sony already said that they are thinking how to use the current UMD games that we already have on the new PSP Go, but what happens with our UMD Movies?
3.- When that system to get the digital copy of our current UMD games will be working, we shall be able to use the digital copy also in the PSP 1000 (or 2000 – 3000)?
Thanks, and sorry for my english… is easier to read than to write for me

I’d love to buy a PSP Go and use the download service, but we do not have a PSN store here in Hungary. Why don’t you offer either an EU-wide shop option or a local store? Even a non-localised, English language store would work for me, just accept a Hungarian credit card.

Why isn’t there a second anaolgue stick?
It’s probably the one thing that everyone has been asking for. With that addition it would probably sell 5 times more. I know I would buy one, without it…..no thanks.

Hi,
1. Why no second analogue stick?
2. Is the Media Go software going to be released on the Mac? If not would a plug-in that works with iTunes be possible?
3. What is happening with the PSP comic store that was rumoured?
One of the main failings of the original PSP is the fact that Sony made it so hard to put anything onto it ie: music video without buying software.
Also that price point is far to expense now.

The big question were all thinking. I have a PSP 2000 and a lot of UMD games. I really want the portability and features of the Go, however I dont want to buy all my games again as a digital copy.
How will we be able to get old UMD games weve already bought on the PSP Go without buying them again?

Will the sales of PSP GO be restricted to countries supported by the PSN store? When will you stop differentiate EU countries? What is stopping Sony to launch PSN stores for all EU countries? Especially that isn’t seem to be a problem for other companies. English language and EUR pricing. (many of your games are english only anyhow…)
What is the rational for selling digital content for the same price it is physically distributed to stores? Will the be smaller, cheaper games available too, as it is for the PS3?
294
Posted on 10 June, 2009 at 10:25 am by SCOTTISHBOY
Yous have said PSP Go’s are cheaper to make than the PSP 3000.
So why are they selling at the same price as the original PSP when it was released?

1st. Why should I buy PSP Go! (100$ more expensive than in US) and 100€ more expensive than PSP3000 in EU, if with that money I can buy a PSP3000 + 32 Gb Memory Stick, and still be able to download content as PSP Go! and with extra 16Gb… ?
2nd. 250$ are not 250€. Please be fair with the prices, we allways get things late and more expensive. It’s in you hand to keep EU players satisfied.

Oh, I have one more question. With bluetooth being part of the unit, is there a possibility of having the PSP hooked up to your TV but controllable with the PS3 controller?
297
Posted on 10 June, 2009 at 11:33 am by Narcotize
Everyone RE:2nd analogue stick:
This is not a PSP2. 2nd stick means new hardware revision and games made to take advantage of it. This would mean that non-PSPgo owners would not be able to play the games that use the 2nd stick. The only way to play them would be a forced upgrade to PSPgo. Considering there is a huge swarm of games aimed at PSP and the current massive success in Japan, it would be mental to introduce a machine that would render all the old ones useless. Plus developers would look at the install base and think “do I a) develop a game for use on all platforms or b) develop a 2 stick game for a limited install base?”. They’d go for the market share every time, look at 3rd party multiplatform adoption this year for proof.
You could argue “why not make a dual control setup?” but you would still have to make the game optimised for the lowest rung of hardware, meaning that games will still have to be crafted and made playable, ideally from a one stick perspective.
