One of the biggest (albeit not necessarily the most surprising
) announcements during the PlayStation Press Conference at E3 last week was the official unveiling of the brand new PSPgo.

We know that you have loads of questions about this new slidey version of the PSP, so we’ve invited the PSP Product Managers here at SCEE to post an update on Friday and tell us everything they can about the handheld.
If there’s anything you’d like to know about the PSPgo, post your questions as Comments below and they’ll answer as many as they can on Friday.

Does it have wireless g like the DSi?
What are the specification changes – if any – beside the obvious/known?
Will there be any improvement made to the browser?
Thank you,

What was the decision of not making a whole new PSP on the cards, is the PSP following the same pattern of the PS with a 10 year life cycle and a change after around the 5 year mark.
Also if you already have many UMD’s as i do how are we going to possible use these on the PSP GO as i dont want to have to pay for every thing twice?
Thanks.

I am not buying a PSP Go if the official launch price in Europe is €249.
And I planned to get one but this is unfair.

Why is the PSP still lacking a 2nd analog stick. Isn’t that way more convenient for 3D games?

Have you thought about bringing Trophies to the PSP Go!?

Does anyone else get the feeling that zephyr_HU, hun_mgsfan, zhavony, Fre576, HU_Zandal, balazsfejes, and DarkCDI are all the same person?!
We get it, you want the PS Store to come to Hungary!!! I’m sure when they are ready and able they will do just that, in the meantime please stop spamming the PSN account registration system and comments section with the same question!
Seems like the introduction of EU PSN Cards is one of the big questions about the PSP Go, I hope SCEE answer that one, otherwise prepare yourself of a deluge of complaining about it in the comments section!!!

I can answer that one. They thought about and then thought better of it. It is too open to abuse.

The problem I see is that although it is smaller, handier and generally a more desirabile product I don’t think it really offers any additional value for money when it is release especially given the fact that existing revisions will start to be discounted.
For a significant price increase over the other revisions I would like to have seen the current PSP ‘extras’ such as GPS and camera built into the unit and maybe the possibility of a touch screen. My recent free upgrade of phone to a XDA zest has all of these features including a similar size screen and GSM functionality.
How would you justify the value of this product when although it has had a make over, the manufacturing cost of this ‘five’ year old product are considerably less than when it was first introduced?

Hi folks,
Why dont u put in a second analog Stick, because playing shooter like Socom or Resistance on PSP is realy hard and the fun is going down.
I like the PSP console but i prefer playing shooter on the PS3.
so please get the START and SELECT buttons above the 2 STICKS

My question is about the accessibility. In my country, Hungary, there is no Playstation store, so that’s one of the biggest problem of every hungarians. We would like to download content, but we cannot. My question is, when the PSP Go will be avalible, Sony will start a PS Store at Hungary too? I think it would be a necessary procedure in order we could play.

Cut the price of the PSP-Go and cut the price of the Digital Downloads and my god are you gunna have a very, very, VEEEEERRRRRYYYY successful product in your hands!
The cheaper it is, the more people will buy it!
All of these posts should be a clear indication that people aren’t happy, and I hope you start chopping some prices.

Ive been waiting to buy a PSP since they came out, but because it had so many apparent design flaws I knew a new model would come out. To my support you have, fixing & or improving on each one, the PSP Go being no exseption. You finally made it to were we can fit it easily in our pockets & increased the memory size, good. Now you fixed 2 of my biggest problems but left the most important out & created a new one. Why do we still not have 2 analog sticks & what do we do with our UMDs now? So once again Im going to havt to wait, also touch screen would have matched your large price tag. P.S PS3 is on the right tracks but the people want voice msg & in game music, the rest is just nice add ons.

i ve the playstation since that born, first series of all playstation, psx, ps2, psp, and ps3. i have considere to buy the new one but after i saw the pictures, i will not buy because of 2 reasons:
and my questions are for my 2 reasons
1. why not other analog?? i dont play fps, like resistance and others simply because its almost impossible to make aim and shoot with the 4 buttons.
and i saw that in new psp go the analog is so close to de others buttons that dont make sence i will play with the analog with 4 buttons (square , triangle,etc..) and the left and right button.
thanks for your cooperation

will the PSP GO share the same store as PS3? I live in Hungary and i can’t access the store at all so if the PSP GO will be the same i wouldn’t be able to play any kinds of games with it.
Furthermore i’d like to ask if Hungary will receive it’s own PSN store in the future? I think many of us would welcome it…

What ever you do, please answer the real questions such as the questions regarding the price, concerns over the rights to these digital purchases.
Dont just answer the dumb questions like “Will it still play UMD’s?” and questions that have already been answered like “does the PSP Go accept Memory Stick Pro Duo?”
That’s what seems to happen with Q&A sessions like this. You post something “Have Questions about X? ask them here and we’ll answer them”.
Then people ask serious questions and they get ignored for dumb questions and questions that have already been answered.

Question.
Will they be extensively updating PSP Stores/PSN in *ALL* Europe/JPN/US for PSP Go. If they are they can consider a sale for me. EU store is seriously lacking in PSP/PSone titles.

My HUGE questions are:
1. What about importers? The region freeness of PS3 and PSP was always a big selling point for me. PSP Go will permanently lock out the ability to play different region content in any way. Are there any plans to bring multiple user account support to PSP Go, so users can still access foreign content in some way?
2. The other thing that makes plenty users uncomfortable is the Digitalness of the system. Spending 2 pounds on a game on your mobile phone is completely different to spending 30 pounds on a virtual wares. Customers like to be reassured in owning a physical product. Are there any plans to compromise that problem by including an single account game code in the UMD game box, similar to the Rock Band song export function. This way PSP owners can own both a physical representation of the game (in the form of a box, with a manual and a UMD, if they are classic PSP costumers and a code if they own a PSP Go instead). The problem of not being able to download the game after the service is terminated is a big issue for collectors, like me.

My questions:
1. Will the display be more brighter like the iphone. I like playing outside, but with the old display (PSP3000) it’s impossible to play outside.
2. In autumn when the new psp go is released whats up with paying in the store. I have no credit card how can I pay? Are there plans that the psn prepaid card is also released in europe?
Thanks for an answer.

I have the same question as other hungarians. We would like to pay for the DL content, but the PS store is not available in our country. We know, a fully localized store might not be profitable, but redirect us to the UK store, and let us pay with credit cards issued by hungarian banks would be a great solution.
The current procedure anyway is against the EU guiding principles. Citizens from different countries cannot be differentiated like this.

I’m not from Hungary, but having read through all of these questions, I do have a few more that need asking.
Does everybody in Hungary own a PSP?
If you’re from Hungary, is there a law that states you have to include that information in everything you say?
With Hungary apparently the dominant European market as far as the Playstation brand goes, why isn’t the Playstation Blog written in Hungarian?

If Train A leaves at 8:45am and travels a distance of 120 miles at a speed of 160mph, and Train B leaves at 10:15am (it was meant to go at 9:00am, but was delayed) and travels 40 miles at a speed of 80mph, would either driver want to buy a PSP Go when they got there?

I would like to know if the PSPgo is coming with preloaded games in the 249€ pack ?
And how the retailers does a margin now ? ’cause they do it mainly on the games no ? Do you increase the margin on the console ? Is this the reason of the most important price compared to the PSP3000 ? / Sorry for my poor English :/

Since you can only use PlayStation Network to download games, how you are going to address the problem with specific countries like mine which do not have access to PlayStation Network. I find this to be unfair, I can’t view or download anything found in PlayStation Network just becuase you guys decided to not allow it in Malta. I hope that this issue gets resolved as soon as possible since I paid the same amount of money as other european customers did for the system.

1) Simultaneous release in Australia
2) Australian price
3) Applications (Intrigrated into firmare or PSN? – facebook app, twitter app, myspace app, youtube app – ei Skype-by the way fanatasic-more like this! Grab hold of the market for crying out loud, you’ve solved the lack of game support!) There is a new clock and calander that has been mentioned in interviews, new firmware?
4) Movies, TV, Video download service in UK, Australia, Europe?
5) PSN cards, please – with an all download device it is ridiculous STUPID for you not to. (Even if you display ALL European currency on the card is fine) and the age groups including teens and children aren’t going to be able to persuade for, even if, credit card access.

6) UMD solution-trade in/download vouchers? Better reveal to the public, not the internet, game stores an such of a service that resolves this or else you will have confusion in the market less sales and frustration in customer support!

1.) Since buying a PSP Go is pretty much pointless in EU member countries where there’s no PlayStation Store yet, does this mean that these countries will finally have their PSN Stores available? Since loss of income from PSP Go sales, PSP Go game sales and PSN-only content sales far FAR outweighs the cost of implementing a store for a country that doesn’t have one, this is pretty much a no-brainer, but still there’s no official word on this yet.
2.) Will PSN prepaid cards be introduced for the EU region so PSP Go owners without credit cards can also get the games they want from the store?

I dont know if anyone else has already asked this yet, but will the PSN be hosting more PSOne classics for the launch of the Go?
Also, will be seeing games like Dissidia Final Fantasy or Motorstorm on the PSN as well as UMD? Because I’d like to start building up a collection of PSN titles before the PSP Go is launched

@ sny83, you wouldn’t be referring to Hungary by any chance? Seriously I’m shocked, I had absolutely no idea Hungary couldn’t get access to the PS Store! I can’t believe no one has mentioned that before, oh wait a minute…
Seriously I want to get all these Hungarian PSP Go potential buyers in a room at the same time, I’m convinced it will be a room of one, maybe two people!
Who knows, maybe I’m wrong, maybe it’s just a big coincidence and there are genuinely 37 people from Hungary asking the same question in the same comments section!

Some questions that are asked before, but i’ll ask them aswell just to improve chances of it being answered;
1. How do you justify the price in € and $ to be the same, while 1€ equals 1.41$?
2. What about the umd games (and movies) we already own, how will we be able to play ‘em on a psp go?
3. Battery life?
Thanks in advance.

Also, why does it cost 250 Euros as well as $250 US?

Just to respond to the many condescending comments regarding our questions.
This particular opportunity for questions in the EU (not UK!!) PlayStation blog was linked from some of the major Hungarian PSP/PS3 focused blogs. Of course you’ll see many guys jumping at the opportunity to comment on our problem here. This is the only way where we can provide visibility to this issue.
We do have thousands of PSPs in the country of 10 million, so there’s bound to be a market for PSP Gos and games there, hopefully Sony will recognize that we’re passionate about the brand and enable us to pay for their products.
I think the problem of not being able to get the Go and the PSN store should perhaps have equal weight than the problem of how many quids it is in the UK and how many analog nubs it has.

Apnomis: what is the problem? your only problem is the price and the second analogue stick. we have some more, basic issues over here. we are equally enthusiastic about sony and playstation as you are. but we feel a bit left out lately…
we are not saying that you must be a single British kid whining about the second analogue stick in a dozen comment. so forgive us for our own whining… it is just that the news about this blog entry been published on a handful of Hungarian gaming related sites, so the readers are coming over to express their frustration. please let us share our view and support us in getting the same level of experience that you already have.

Digital content is more convenient, that’s pretty much a fact. However as someone new to the PSP club I’ve noticed that gaming looks set to become much much more expensive…
Used and even new UMD’s are much cheaper than the digital downloads. I’ve been truly shocked by the high prices. An extreme example is Buzz Quiz Master – £19.99 on PSN, £4.79 in Argos!
Seriously… in the medium-long term there will be no option but to buy digitally which will mean a fixed price (as there is no competition) and no second hand market to pick up old games at a reduced price… This may be great for Sony but it seriously bad for the gamer.
Think about how you go about buying a new game now, I check eBay, ShopToNet, Gamestation, Gamestop, Amazon, Asda and a local chain. Then which ever is offering the best price or deal for a game gets my custom… This will all end when there is one source and one price… It will be a MONOPOLY!
My questions to Sony therefore is how will they address PSN store pricing being so high and will they make older games cheaper as happens in the tangible game world? I’d also like to ask about being able to re-sell or exchange old game downloads but that seems a little too wishful to consider!

Hi again,
1.- The screen of PSP Go will have 480×272 pixels resolution as well?
2.- Why Sony don’t add a right “analog” stick that just emulates the right buttons in a more comfortable way?
3.- The optional Memory Stick M2 will work like de build-in memory or games will need to be on the main memory?
4.- Will be analog the square, X, O and triangle buttons? For racing games that should be a good improvement.
5.- The battery could be replaced?
6.- There will be a 32 gb version of PSP Go?
7.- Will Sony launch some day aplications for the PSP as Calendar?

@ greg_kb, firstly I wasn’t one of the ones whining about it not having a second analogue stick, secondly it wasn’t my intention to cause offense – if we have genuinely had an influx of Hungarian members then fair enough, it is the EU blog afterall.
I was just commenting (and I wasn’t the only one) that it was a bit of a strange coincidence that we suddenly had several posts from similar sounding members (mostly UK accounts) all asking the same specific thing – it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen the same comment poster creating multiple ID’s in order to reinforce their argument on a blog/forum…
Out of interest is the PSP Go even being released in Hungary? I doubt they would even bother launching it in a Country that didn’t have the infrastructure to support it?

Firstly, please introduce PSN cards!! This will bring fantastic flexibility to PSN and introduce a younger audience to it, as a teen, I cannot pay for the excellent things on offer! This would change if the cards were available.
Secondly, what happens to my UMDs?! Do we get a discount or get them for free something if we type in the serial number?! I am not willing to dish out for them again!!
Thirdly, will there be PSPGo exclusives?? I’m guessing there would, as the PSP original won’t have the same PSN capabilities I guess?
Finally, PRICE!! For goodness sake, do not fail on the price again Sony!! I won’t be happy to pay more for the PSPgo in comparison to the PSP original, when it is actually minor to the original. If it doesn’t play UMD’s and doesn’t have any different capabilities, in terms of gaming hardware then there no point!!
Thanks,
Wentyy

I’ve already asked questions but I forgot one.
Will the UK get PSN cards a la microsoft points available at retail? Or will some games be available like patapon 2 in the US as a code used online to redeem the game?
If the PSPGo is to be entirely digital then surely some customers will miss out if they are reluctant to use credit cards online. I believe the system for buying the digital games would need to be more flexible in order to increase the games bought and in turn pspgos sold.

Can you please post pics of the PSP Go side by side with the PSP 3000?
That way we can see exactly how much different the length width and thickness are.
I’m particularly interrested in the thickness. I would like to see how much smaller the buldge in my pants pocket will be.
