I hope £230 for PSP Go is incorrect, because that price is a disgrace. Makes me worried about the price of the upcoming PS3 Slim. My PS3 died and I need a replacement, and I’m not paying £145 for a refurb. If PS3 Slim isn’t a good price I’m going to remain PS3-less for a looong time

This question isn’t directly related to the new PSP (awesome piece of engineering btw), but can we expect a Killzone: Liberation sequel?

Guerrilla did an awesome job with Killzone 2, so I’m really hoping they’ll do something for PSP as well.

The only question that is absolutely important to me is: will there be any way at all to convert my existing 22 UMD games to a digital format, and if so will it be available in South Africa, also will it cost anything? If there is and it is available in SA then you can make a space in your wallet for my cash.

Great Job with the overall design, it looks great. Cant wait for Oct 1 release date.

Secondly, @ WhiteWolfDK – I most certainly do no give GB users a bad name! It’s called business, now I may have a business focussed mind given my career and education and if you think it makes me unsympathetic to other Europeans then that is your problem not mine.

It has absolutely nothing to do with me getting or not getting any services, it’s about understanding Sony’s business reasons for making those decisions (in VidZone’s case they even explained them in the article – but people still whinged about it).

Let’s strip it right down to basic numbers ignoring any other factor – according to VGChartz PS3 sales in all regions outside of Japan and the Americas total 10.7 million – 19% of these sales are the UK alone making it the single biggest PS3 market outside America/Japan. Then take the other VidZone Countries like France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Austrialia and you have a further 5.2M units. Meaning that VidZone already covers 67% of the ‘Others’ region and 75% of European owners. It’s pretty obvious why they neither Sony nor Microsoft prioritise getting their services into Countries like Hungary – nothing personal to PS3/360 owners in those region, it’s just common business sense…

LOL this is why I didn’t go for a career in international relations!

Firstly, @ sny83 by “infrastructure” I meant the PSN Store, I wasn’t making any judgment on the infrastructure of Hungary, I merely meant that I would find it surprising that Sony would announce the PSN Store dependent PSP Go in a Country that didn’t have a PSN Store!

Unless they have some other way around this, like a PC/PSP version of the Store. I can’t imagine them releasing the PSP Go in Hungary if they didn’t have any way for consumers to access content for it.

@ greg_kb – Well, Apnomis is just the type of guy that makes the PSN users from GB stand out in a bad way, he was the same way in the VidZone comments – he’s gotten it so F*** the rest of us and we should just shut up, very little understanding for the way VidZone managed to make the rest of Europe feel, after all GB is not that a big part of Europe after all only in his mind.

Apnomis: maybe it’s just manners. probably the way you have put your questions/thoughts into the comments was offending some of us. anyway, please let us express our major concern, the lack of psn store, that is a requirement for the psp go here…

there’ve been plenty PSN members posting from Hungarian accounts as well. the reason for seeing some of us using UK accounts is that we have to register with a fake address to get even the free downloadable content and demos… imagine your ps3 or psp without demos… now you probably start have an idea why on earth we sound like one, crying out for support. from sony, and YOU fellow PSN members.

The same is with the GPS hadware, will it also work at the new psp go?

Is skype running on the psp go?

Do please enlighten us how you came to this conclusion? The infrastructure is there and has been there since the release of PS3 – the only thing needed is for SCEE to take the required steps to enable the service. The reason why you see many comments from less fortunate EU member countries (like ours) on the topic of local PSN Stores is because the PSP Go is the first console that _requires_ access to it to be of any value.

Also, I welcome you to check my PSN account/trophies, play my LittleBigPlanet levels and message me… you’ll quickly see I’m not just using some account created to post multiple versions of the same question and I’m sure the others in previous comments would be no different. If you take a step back and look at the fundamental problem we’re facing, you’ll probably agree that this is the single most important thing to ask.

But let’s not litter this thread with off-topic discussions questioning the credibility of other posters, and focus on coming up with important questions and issues that need solving instead.

It seems to be Sonys marketing strategy really. Charge an inordinately high price for a piece of hardware, (i.e. PS3 or original PSP) then years down the line charge exactly the same price for iterations with less functionality (PS3 without backwards compatibility, card reader slots and extra USB ports and PSP with no UMD). Thing is, I`m the kind of idiot that keeps paying for these things, and will probably get the PSP Go just because it looks so sexy. Oh well!

I read somewhere that part of the reason for the PSP GO’s innapropriately high price(seriously, your nuts if you think you can get away with charging ipod like pricing on this thing) is you increased the retailer margin on the hardware itself.

I hope what ends up happening is retailers realise that MSRP is too high and sell it for less then MSRP. I think the chances of you guys admitting you priced it too high and dropping it to $199US are pretty much Zero.

Can you please post pics of the PSP Go side by side with the PSP 3000?

That way we can see exactly how much different the length width and thickness are.

I’m particularly interrested in the thickness. I would like to see how much smaller the buldge in my pants pocket will be.
