Hi everyone. I’m Naomi, European Producer in the SingStar Team.
Hope you all saw some new tracks you liked in Nina’s sneak peak at this week’s SingStore update; I’m here to let you know how things are going in our hunt for the new face of SingStar – the Crystal Mics contest.
The last stage of the competition will soon be drawing to a close and just 30 finalists remain out of the 11,000 people who originally entered 10 weeks ago. Here are their names and even some clips of their superb SingStar perfomances:

For getting this far, each of our finalists have already earned themselves their own pair of (utterly gorgeous) crystal-encrusted Wireless SingStar Microphones, but just one final test remains: they must impress rock legend Bonnie Tyler!
Bonnie’s epic 80s rock ballad, Total Eclipse of the Heart, has been top of the SingStore ‘most downloaded’ chart for some time, so it seemed appropriate to invite her to be our Crystal Mics guest judge. Each of the 30 finalists will upload one more video performance to My SingStar Online or our SingStar community site, www.singstargame.com, in an effort to amaze Bonnie and be crowned the winner of the Crystal Mics. We’ll bring you the results of the final in July and so, in the meantime, good luck to all of our finalists and well done for making it this far!
And just in case you missed them in all of the E3 craziness, last week we announced two new SingStar games coming to both PS3 and PS2 later this year
SingStar Take That will feature a collection of new and classic tracks from the band’s career, including Shine, Back for Good and Could it be Magic; SingStar Motown celebrates the industry icon’s 50th anniversary with a great collection of tracks from legendary Motown artists, including The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and loads more. Some ideas for Singstar, thought this would be a good enough place to get read as any
Battle of the bands – Imagine how much fun it would be if you could challenge another “team” online, get your mates round your house and all sing together to score higher than the competition, you could even run a tournament or have a league table!
Random Song Challenge – The enter the number of competitors and it randomly chooses a song from your available list, all people have to compete against each other on that song, followed by the next one etc
What comes next again? – The song plays as normal, and at a random point it drops the lyrics, you have to keep trying to sing them!
Mood Suggestion – Be able to pick a mood your feeling and have the game create a song list for you to play from those available.

I see that the SingStar game is very popular in the UK and Germany judging by the fact that is where the majority of the finalists are from (either that or they have the better singers!).
SingStar is definitely not my thing, but good look to the finalists anyway! I like the idea of SingStar Motown though, that genre is full of karaoke classics so I can see it being a big seller, but again it’s not something I’d be buying in a hurry!

Hi friends, I readed about upload final´s vid on singstargame.com, but I have two problems with it, first my account WarData have an unknown password (I asked system to reply my password, but I never received it) and second is that I upload a vid, I get confirmation, but none video is finally online.
Naomi, can you confirm that the only way to upload a vid is throught singstargame.com?

Congratulations for being one of the finalists. I think you should be able to upload your performance onto MSO, I am double checking, but believe that should be ok.

glad you like them, but sorry!! I have more ideas
Party mode – Enter the number of competitors and then you get to compete in a number of challenges such as:
- being dropped in to a random song and having to continue singing it at a random point for a fixed duration
- Who can sing the highest or lowest note and sustain it for the longest
- this would also work well with my “What comes next again?” suggestion above
- plenty of scope to add more game types as well, or even sell them as 99p DLC
Singstar:Voice Workout – I quite like the idea of the game being able to work out a “plan” so that you can practice your low range, upper range, rapping skills etc and give you stats etc on how you are improving, almost like a workout regime but for your vocals!
Compatibility Rating, it could be quite fun if Singstar could do some kind of “compatibility” rating after singing a duet with someone e.g. depending upon how “well” you were singing together for *how* long in the song it could predict your relationship together, bound to cause a few giggles.
I’m sorry once my brain starts whirring ideas don’t tend to stop popping out, thanks for your time

I cannot wait for this final to take place. Really looking forward to it. Bonnie Tyler as the special guest judge is very cool. Singing Mamma Mia is going to be quite a challenge but I look forward to it! Good luck to the 29 other finalists!

Singstar is worth buying for watching the community videos alone. There are some crazy people out there. Second all the ideas that designheadache came up with in the first post. Keep the updates coming, and best of look to all the finalists.

Thanks Naomi!!! So, finally we can upload our vid of ABBA on MySingstar Online? If you can confirm it would be nice, because we are trying to solve our problem (none in Spain could upload a vid to the Crystal Mics contest..), but it looks difficult to solve…

H i ,we haven’t received our crystal mics package either ,i hope they come this week , i don,t think my postman can take much more of me asking if they have arrived yet lol , we loved doing mamma mia vid ,all the vids in the competition were great does anyone no when we will find out who the winner is? is it at the end of july?, if u could let me no that would be great

The terms and conditions state that the winner will be notified by email within 14 days of the final closing, so I reckon that they will let them know before the 15th. As for when they will announce the winner publicly – who knows!
There have been some utterly amazing final entries and I’ve really enjoyed watching them all (and some of them several times LOL)
