Hello again, I hope you’ve all had a good week! This week sees an incredible array of content on the store, from a brand new PSN full game, to a couple of ‘old-school’ classics, our new music application VidZone, additional map packs for two great FPS titles; Call of Duty: World at War and Killzone 2, and much more. Burnout Paradise has also had a recent extension into Big Surf Island, so all Paradise City racers should get themselves ready for more mayhem.
Following on from the announcement of The Last Guardian, fans of the two previous Team Ico titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and of LittleBigPlanet, can now download some great new costumes for their Sackboy to celebrate their love of these games.
I know I said this last week too, but I think we’ve had a great start to June on the PlayStation Store and I just wanted to reiterate the point, that there’s much more great new content to come.
Have a good week all and, as usual, let us know what you think

I agree with Spurs78 and his comments about the lack of information on patches. I know you have stated that you have passed these comments onto the appropriate people and you shouldn’t have to apologies for their lack of replies when they are able to post themselves.
But these people are clearly behind closed doors to us, those at SCEE must be aware of the issues on the forums and the blog, and you are stuck in the middle having to deal with us moaning about the same issues each week.
The Blast factor patch is a particularly bad example, i have posted many comments in the 12 page and growing thread on the official forum yet no SCEE rep sees it fit to reply. Fans have even emailed Bluepoint the developers and they state the patch was passed to SCEE last year and they have no idea why it is not out in the EU.
So emails to SCEE, massive threads in the official forum and numerous comments on the official blog and still these people at SCEE refuse to comment.
I feel sorry for you Mike as they could easy post comments and stop all the negative comments this blog fills up with, instead you are having to deal with it all and they don’t even seem to listen to you!

I cannot get vidzone to work at all. It has installed but when I try running it I get an error – an error occurred during the country checking process.
This is a UK PS3 with a UK timezone. Anyone else having problems?

@Mike
[JohnSketch]
I travel alot and so find myself owning a large quantity of Import titles stateside. So far “at least” I’ve not encountered any noticable problems with DLC for Dead Space, LittleBigPlanet e.t.c. but saying that It’s always best to be safe when wishing to future-proof a purchase so where possible buy your native region, but if not..it shouldnt be “too” much of a hassle.
One way around any issues (although unsure if you are able to announce this on legal/moderation guidelines) is to create an account on your PS3 for the region with which the title was purchased and download the DLC from there (from the comfort of your home in your native land).
Just a few thoughts.

Why are not all of the listed PSP-games released in the Swedish PSN-store?
Only two of the mentioned four are available here, Wipeout Pulse and Syphoon Filter.
All of the four titles are Sony games so there can’t be any licensing issues.
If there were anu, I guess the only title who could be in trouble would be Wipeout Pulse with the music tracks. But that is released here…
Will there only be PSP games that have turned Platinum that will be released on PSN?

SONY come on…
Since when is Europe limited to UK and France?
Why do people in Luxembourg, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, etc… don’t have the same stuff as the others? If you aren’t planning creating a REAL European store, then just create 2 of them: the “good PS store” and the “store for the noobs that paid the same price but won’t get any content”…
Of course it must be soooooo difficult to have the same content in Luxembourg as in France? Put the french content in the luxembourgish store and that’s it! Don’t say that there are administrative/legal problems, especially not in Luxembourg…
Do something, so that the euro store becomes a REAL EUROPEAN store…

@ 105.

MISSING in the Dutch store: Ferrari Challenge DLC Pack, the cars and track seperately are there, but not the pack with all the DLC as it appeared on the UK store last week or so (which is almost half the price!).
Also missing are the 3 videos, I guess Sony is again adding Dutch subtitles for no good reason again…? You’d think they finally got the message after the inFamous English audio debacle.

VidZone is a nice idea, certainly for free it could not be said it should not be there. But?
Of course but! It’s a new thing.
The PS3 has parental controls, why on earth should the music be universally censored with such capabilities in the console? Some “clean” tracks are done well, or even recorded that way – but there are also many terribly poor edits made to songs forced to be radio friendly, creating really poor versions of the music.
Sadly for me, most of the music I would want is subject to amateur hack job editing, and makes it no more appealing that it would of been on TV, where I do not watch music as it is.
More related though (and not simply me whining). The search interface is utterly terrible. Slow, unfriendly and entirely ignoring the ability to use a USB or Bluetooth keyboard interface for text.
I would bet anyone who has Sony’s own little message pad on their DualShock or those of us with keyboards plugged in by instinct tried to type into the search box before realising what a poor input method is required.
Something that could easily be changed, of course.
So a good idea for the console, a nice addition but sadly I must decline interest. Will check back later.

In the name of the whole HUNGARIAN Playstation Community what my homemate Kenchi mentioned a few comments before we want our own PS.services!
Why do we have to make fake foreign account in order to buy games and dlc in my country?
There are thousands of playstation 3 owner,is it not enough?
A hungarian owner.

@116.
What I was trying to write about was that it seems that all of the PREVIOUS released PSP games that was to be digitalized for the new PSP GO may be limited to only games that have become Platinum.
SONY said that a majority of the previously UMD games would be available for download on the PSN-store.
I have a feeling that they will only release Platinum games.
Of course I understand that NEW PSP games will be released on the PSN.
And please keep the language international (English) so everybody understands.

Sounds like we need a Global Playstation Network with simultanious updates. I know there are legal/localisation issues, but will be worth the effort.
And the Prices need to be chopped. Your only selling digital, infinite copies of software, not physical retail copies of products.
Massive change is needed on a Global scale in order to improve PSN and featurs on the XMB like cross game chat etc.

Dear Mike,
May I politely ask why there is this perceived Great Wall of Secrecy surrounding the patch for Blast Factor?
The patch was passed to SCEE 7 months ago by BluePoint.
This delay has been long enough surely, however the galling part is being seemingly ignored by any one who could gain factual answers on this simple issue. The matter is constantly getting “passed on” but nothing is ever forthcoming!
The Blast Factor patch (as far as I am aware!) is not an MI5 or CIA top secret matter of global security. It is a simple video game trophy/rumble/custom soundtrack patch for a game that has a special place in the hearts of many DAY1 PS3 buyers, for whom this great full 1080p shooter was their first ever PSN download.
Can you please, in your function as conduit of communications between SCEE and its loyal fan base please ask the person who is in charge of this issue to give us some actual tangible Information?
With greatest respect could you please get this information out from behind this wall of secrecy, because the constant feeling of seeming to be ignored or disregarded is almost worse than not knowing the status of patches for games that some members of this community actually care about
Thank You.

Nice update
vidzone is great!!! using it right now. but one question:
why aren’t videos that have a 16:9 aspect ratio shown without giant black frames?
in full screen with nothing around that just doesn’t look nice on a big tv. i would like to see it full screen or the option to make a blue (vidzone background) frame around it… or something else.
but for the start it is a really great service
very good audio quality

I will take your word for Vidzone being fantastic…..Came home from work today looking forward to having a look and low and behold the usual demand preceeds itself again. Got the download but cant conect too many people not enough servers. It’s ‘Home’ all over again, I had to wait the best part of a week to gain access to that as well. Never mind at least it is free so cant really complain. If only my wife would understand……………………….
