PlayStation Store Update – 18th June 2009

Hi Mike,

I know people were asking about adding file sizes to content on the store or the blog so we know if we have enough free space to download something. I know its on the US store so is there any chance of this happening for the European one? It would especially be handy when downloading PSone games.

Another thing. Would it be possible to add a separate Demo section to the store? Its another thing that’s on the US store. It would be handy when having a look for any old demos that we haven’t downloaded yet. At the moment games and demos are together in the same section so it makes it a bit messy when searching for stuff.

Where is FFVII for french? Please answer about because normaly it is on store 3 week ago and it doesn’t. So this my question: “WHY?”

In fact i can spend my time on other games I have.

But please, don’t give any date if it’s not sure @ 100%
I prefer to have a good surprise than waiting like a child and being disgusted when i check the weekly update with all good things missing

Maybe I was abit harsh. But a few simple steps would placate me.

1. Release Dates for PSN Games. We have them for retail games.

2. Release Prices prior to release. We don’t have PSN Cards in Europe and my parents don’t often give me their cards.

3. Worldwide patch/game releases.

4. Why do we only update on Thursday. Shops are open all week!

That would prevent discrimination and dissapointment.

Hi Mike! I know you confirmed the Last Guy patch, but whats about the Dark Mist and Blast Factor patches? The Dark Mist one is specially critical because it adds the savegame option. Please, can you ask about it? Thank you very much.

About the last store update… well, not the best update ever, but Im very busy with my latest games to really care. I earned the inFamous platinum yesterday and now Im all Sacred 2. Man, what a long game, I can see me playing it for a million hours.

Can you tell us why we are paying 10€ when an US user pay 10$ ?
And the PS3 price ?
US = 400$
EUR = 400€

It’s a poor update but seriously guys it ain’t SCEE’s fault that Europe have all these licensing issues or whatever is is.

Well who cares about crappy update, I’m more interested when you guys are finally gonna fix the wallet of EU psn store. I’d like to buy stuff but oh wait, you screwed up the billing system.

man i hate the US getting stuff and no mention of europe (jeanne d’ arc) i say we should be able to purchase off the US store so that we can at least exerience the same service.
PS any word on blaze blue, white knight chronicles or cross edge as these types of games rarely recieve an EU release

2, again would love it especially if they were in line with other regions we always seem to pay more here.

4, i think this would be kool but there isnt enough content for daily updates. maybe have seperate days. mondays are singstore, guitar hero, and rockband updates. tuesday, videos of upcoming games, wednesday ps1 classics, thursday game content for ps3 games, friday demos. weekend we rest. and start again on mondays.

Have you managed to get confirmation that SCEE will commit the same release date for Fat Princess as SCEA Santa Monica, June 2009?
If yes, it has to be next week.
If not, it’s time to buy a US prepaid PSN cards from ebay…

all the best updates are in america. We brits get the crap games we threw at the gameuk bargain bins ages ago.sort it out sony eh, or we wont buy anymore playstation content with our hard earned cash.fed up with sony keep ripping our countrys off, i guess its payback from the japs after losing to us at ww2.got a problem with the commonwealth countries have you now.;-)

The prices prior to release would be key to me. I have £20 on my PSN, If Fat Princess is £15 I could entertain myself for a week with £5 content. But, It may be £20, so im stuck.

It would also be really nice if we could get a EU date for Bomberman Ultra…

Mike has been kind enough to give us an update on the French Final Fantasy VII release.

We can only patiently wait and hope that we get another update.

Anyone noticed that there are 4 Spinal Tap songs, for £1 each, or buy all four in a pack for only £5. Wonder how many people are gonna fall for that!

I would just like to say thanks to Mike for all his responses.

I would also like to say that although I am disapointed that there are no new PSP games or PSone games on the store this week, we shouldn’t complain about it. For a long time I did not complain when walking into my local GAME store only to see no new PSP games on the shelves, so why complain about a week of nothing new on the store. It simply means that next week, there might be something cool and new to download. In the meantime, I may look into buying some game that maybe I have overlooked.

One question to Mike though, yesterday I bought Final Fantasy 7 as it was shown on the the front page of the PSP store, but if you go into the PSone classics bit, it is nowhere to be found, as if it has been added to the store, but not classified.

Also, where did Silent Hill go, it was released for about a day and then withdrawn

Looks like a Major FAIL for both Xbox and PS3 this week. I was at least expecting MGS but fat princess would have been a nice surprise but nothing. Oh well Guess irl just go play L4D.

Please can you answer the PSone games question for me? The main games I look forward to each week are PSone games as I have such a fondness for the system and want to play the games legally on my PSP. I can’t use American games on my PSP so even going that route means I can’t use them. But so many are rated by PEGI and have been for over 18 months so please can you get something sorted so we get at least one game per week? And a game that isn’t rubbish like Bass fishing?

I work in the industry myself as a developer in Cambridge so I can understand the QA process but surely it doesn’t take 18 months to QA old games?

Also it’s my Birthday tomorrow and I was hoping to spend some money on myself with good content. I have spent about £400 on the store since day one and love the games I have played but I would like more content more often.

Maybe you should have a release schedule for us to see? That way we won’t have days like today as we know to expect nothing. If a game slips from release date, tell us and then know not to expect but guessing each week is tedious at best.

@halljames, rockband unplugged is out 2morrow. you have to remeber all new releases in stores are generally a friday release.

I sooo wish that sony would scrap this “every store has its own team and does stuff differently”-nonsense. The same goes for home.

Microsoft got this right from the start – every store is treated equally, and all their consumers are treated equally, wether they come from germany, spain, ireland or the US.

I don’t get what the responsible guys over at sony are thinking. It’s like they don’t want our money here O.o I don’t want to buy stuff with foreign accounts that could be closed whenever sony feels like enforcing their terms & conditions and thus losing all my downloads I spent money on.

“Fat Princess will have a global release date, but I can confirm for you it will not be next week I’m afraid. The game is coming at some point this summer, but there is no confirmed release date at the moment.”

When on earth are you gonna acknowledge that you messed the billing system and when on earth are you gonna fix it? The annoying “Funds could not be added to your wallet” and other errors are pretty annoying.

The update was dissapointing. I take that. However, the line was crossed when he said Fat Princess isn’t out this month.

In the June 1st Blog, he confirmed that Fat Princess was out this month.

… why is there no Metal Gear Solid 1? Konima announced a June 18th release date …

Anyway its sad that PSN is missing so many great PS1 classics that should be out here. Where is Spyro 1/2/3 , Crash Bandicoot 2, Metal Gear Solid, RE: Director’s Cut, Tekken 2, etc? I mean look at the Japan store it has what over 250 or is it over 300 PS1 games on it.

The fact is a this point i know the majority of Australians (and our friends from NZ) would prefer to be linked to the US for PSN at the very least. We do not accept crap like localization (if the US version works on my PS3 what exactly are you doing), adding languages (we speak English and only English, don’t delay content here for countries on the other side of the world), etc.

Nice to see someone finally taking a note. The forums happen to be full of threads about this error too. Hope you get it fixed soon as some people haven’t been able to purchase anything from the store for a month.

About PS1 games. What if the publisher is Sony Computer Entertainment Europe?

Just to let you know, I want to play Metal Gear Solid on my PSP. I didn’t really expect it to be released in Europe this week… But I was still pretty disappointed.

How about specifying which regions a game will get released in when you announce a release date? It would probably eliminate many of these messages, although the ones complaining about regional differences would still exist.

That said, I, too, am annoyed by the fact that we get almost everything later than the Americans and sometimes even later than the Japanese.

Mike, thanks for updating us and answering some of the questions in the comments. While some of the users seem to want to string you up, plenty of us here (including myself) are grateful for the games and content you help bring over to us EU folks.
