Update: 20 July 2009
Hello! Great news – the new PSN Trophy features are now live! To compare your trophies with your Friends in the new leaderboard, go to eu.playstation.com, sign-in using your PSN Online ID then head over to My PlayStation Network / My Trophies. Enjoy
——–
Hi everyone. My name is Emmanuel (or “Manu” as everybody calls me) and I’m the Portal Manager here at SCEE, which means that I look after eu.playstation.com.
Back in March this year we released new PSN functionality on eu.playstation.com, in particular the ability to directly check your Trophies and the status’ of your friends on the website, plus a new Trophy-friendly version of the Portable ID.
Already more than half a million of you have enjoyed these new features and continued to update your Portable ID on a regular basis, so thank you very much for your support.
Since the launch of the PSN channel, we’ve been listening to the community in order to plan further enhancements to the section and I’m happy to say that from mid-July you’ll be able to enjoy two great new and much-requested features on eu.playstation.com…
First up is the new “My Trophies – Compare with your friends” page, which is fairly self-explanatory but will enable you to line up your Trophy collection alongside that of your PSN Friends.
Many of you also requested a Leaderboard, so you can see how you rank against your PSN Friends, and whether you’ve moved up, down or stayed in the same spot. So here’s a look at the new Leaderboard:
This is still work in progress and the design of these pages might change slightly, but as we get closer to the launch of these new features we’ll let you know more details on how they’ll work and the exact release date.
Back in March I said this is just the start of new exciting ways of enjoying your PSN world and it still is: keep an eye on eu.playstation.com for even more new features coming soon. I’m also keen to get ideas and feedback from you, so don’t hesitate to post your comments here on the Blog or into the Forums.
On a final and separate note, I just wanted to remind you to keep your PSN sign in details safe: never tell anyone else your PSN Sign-In ID (email address) or password, and only use these details to log-in to official PlayStation websites.
See you soon on eu.playstation.com.
Manu

Nice update and all BUT can i request a new feature, you see the PS3 comes with an internet browser how about actully making all the ACTUAL PS3 site features work with it? (via updaing the site or the browser, i don’t care which), i mean it seems silly to ship the console with a browser and then make features on the official site (and other official games, KZ2 for example) not work with it.

Please open up the API so people can integrate trophies into their applications / sites!
e.g. I’d like to write an app that would ping our IRC channel when a clan member gets a trophy (we already do this for xbox live).
A SOAP or REST service would be nice – thanks!

Any news on a patch for Ghostbusters?

Well, looking at the current portable ID, it could be smaller, one could remove the useless crap (favourite platform, favourite game, mood) and replace it by recent trophies.

Hey, great updates – looking forward to them. But my number 1 annoyance with it is that i have to go and update my trophy card manually everytime.
Can’t you make them automatic? It doesn’t have to be everytime we get a trophy, it could be just a scheduled update, say twice everyday, once in the morning, once at night.
Or, to make it even better, automatically update it as soon as we sync our trophies to the server..
Thanks.

Good stuff!
Also, any chances of getting more games on the “now playing” list, its missing quite a few popular titles
And what happened to the smaller PSN-card, now i can only select the large one?

Awesome features, looks amazing!
Now, could you answer this question:
Will the portable IDs soon update automatically, instead of us manually updating them all the time?

And another suggestion, more options for trophy cards! Smaller, more compact ones which removes other stuff like the mood, favourite game, etc to try and cut down on the size.
Would love to be able to fit a PSN trophy card up on my blog’s sidebar along with my xbox live gamercard!

hey, id love to seee a kinda integration into the text or voice chat with thism profile viewer so u can boast about ure trophies. And on the main page of the profile, a screen shot of ure HOME appartment
63
Posted on 29 June, 2009 at 3:51 pm by Jamito
^^^^^ The reason i say about my comment is because i can seee a tab saying ‘about me’ and i thought itd be pretty cool to show friends and stuff at school, with ure apartment snap shot, and your total amount of trophies
, What would totaly blow it out of the hat would be like an ingame screen shot of one of ure games, lke a score on cod 4, that would be awesome, Keep up the good work !

The new features look very nice Manu – thanks for the update! Well since you ask, I have two requests – first is for information to be added to my online profile – what I’m currently doing on my PS3. I.e. in the same way I can see what my friends are doing when I look at my friend’s status on PS3 – this would be handy to view from a PC too. Also, the status field (for instance “Drakes Fortune”) could be exported to twitter so that it would be possible to have a twitter feed automatically updated when I start playing a different game!
Second request – please ask devs to adhere to a strict policy on the text they use when submitting trophies. I’ll explain what I mean – if I bring up my trophies, some of the games actually include the word “Trophies” in the summary and some don’t. So scrolling down the list I see “game a; game b; game c trophies; game d; and so on…” Some games also have the name of the game all in upper case and some don’t. I know I’m being picky but it’s the little things like this that can spoil the slick look of the whole interface.
I look forward to the new features!

Hi what i really would like is when you click someones portable ID you get a list of their trophies, not the PS registration page… That would be great
Posted on 29 June, 2009 at 5:26 pm by Emmanuel Orssaud
In the Future when we release the Public Profile, we will definitely link the Portable IDs to the Profile pages.

nice but any chance of there being a feature in a future update allowing us to transfer our saves, downloads from psn and games to other users on our ps3? i’ve been waiting for this for a long time

Will you include Auto-update in the future?

Ziggy-Moff is spot on, it’s impossible for you to use eu.playstation.com on the PS3 browser as that is the same address of the PS3 specific page – so whenever you try to link to the EU Forums or your PSN Profile Page etc you get an error as the site automatically assumes you want to go to the gimped PS3 specific version of the page! These should be distinct pages – I can understand the need for a simple PS3 browser homepage, but there’s no reason to completely block the full version of the eu.playstation.com!
As for other people commenting on the design of the signature, I can see where they are coming from as some sites only like little signature images, but I personally like the current version. If it were to change it should be an option – maybe 3 different types of varying sizes – either that or open up the API and allow the community to come up with their own bespoke solution…

Custom avatars please? And if you guys could somehow display everyone’s trophy level below their name it would be really cool. Thanks.

As mentioned by many (many) others already, the biggest missing feature is still *automatically updated PSN cards*.
It’s such a chore to have to login on the website and then manually update my card. Please address this soon.

Great new features! But as some others have requested, it would be nice with a global leaderboard as well.
Also, other things that I’d love to see are:
+ Being able to choose an avatar from eu.playstation.com. Right now we’ve got a very limited selection of avatars.
+ Being able to read messages and reply to them from eu.playstation.com.

It could be cool to be able to queue downloads from the site too, and send/recieve PSN messages
Just some suggestions

Is there any chance that we’ll see these features in other regions? I’m a US user and it would be nice to see this in the US site, as of now if I want to see features like this I have to go to the EU site. Not that there’s anything wrong with the EU site, but it’d be preferable to go to the site that is more relevant to my region. I know there is some funtionality that is similar on the US site, but this is far, far more robust.

less flash would be amazing… i currently cant go on playstation.com at college because of all the flash, i know i shouldn’t anyway but playstations an addiction! lol
Posted on 29 June, 2009 at 4:53 pm by Emmanuel Orssaud
The site is fully usable without JavaScript, but for the Flash fans, we are currently optimising the performance of the site.

oh.. being able to add/remove and message friends would be amazing.. not just text chat either, maybe implement the same IM that’s on the ps3, as well as voice chat (video chat maybe)… the voice and video chat probably would take a while to implement but it would be worth the wait!

What would make the PSN stand out from all the competitors would be being able to send messages from any platfom to your friends and others.
So that I could sign onto PSN on my computer and send a message to a friend that might be online on his or hers PS3, what also would be cool would be if you could be able to log onto PSN on your PSP and check who’s online etc. If the PSP can’t do that while running the XMB you could make it an application like Skype is. That doesn’t sound like something impossible since Skype handles lots of users being logged on, comments etc. That would be something that no other competitor have, so that would be a great marketing chance for you; Full connectivity with friends on any platfom, PSP, PS3 and PC.
Just some dream of mine ^^

I agree with some of the comments about being able to access this site from your PS3 browser. This would make the whole experience better and I wouldn’t have to get off the sofa to use the PC. Please SCEE can we get this sorted.

Hello Emmanuel, I have moved to Europe’s Blog to tell you that its a great idea what you guys are bringing to the official web site. However, it will be much appreciated if you guys could also bring an *official trophy leaderboard to the PS3*. I mean, is nice to have it on the official site, but some of us are eagerly waiting to get a trophy leaderboard on our PS3s.

Salut Emmanuel,
Thanks for news. However, is there any chance we’ll see a link to the signature picture that will correctly display our profile instead of the sign up page?
I mean, just try to click on your own signature and you’ll see that your profile page is pointing to the sign up now page…

Hi Emmanuel,
Will the EU playstation allow me to sign in to PSN automatically in the same way the US site does?

Some nice additions there thanks. I would like to see an auto update of trophies though but as already said they should be on the way.
I think you should have options for card colours too, like the purple you have now, and black, blue, green, red etc.
Also is there any upcoming avatars? I’d love some Kingdom Hearts and/or Final Fantasy ones.
Thanks

The leaderboard – I know how I’m ranked amongst my friends, just now I’m in top 5 with 1175+ trophies – but I would like to see how I stack up against the other danish or european players.
The autoupdate system – why is it so hard to make? I must admit I don’t use my official card anywhere since it doesn’t update, I get around to update it maybe once a week, ps3trophycard.com updates my card automatic once a day.
Other features should be a greater form of customization, at Battletracker.com we can make a compleltly custom card, I offcourse has one with wolves, both features can apprantly be handled by 3th party vendors, so why not the biggest company – SONY themselves?

Forgot 1 thing:
pictures of the trophies last earned on your card – don’t care much for the 3 pictures of the latest games I play, most friends of mine already know what games I play, they can see it on the trophies

We need a smaller version of the PSN portable ID to choose from. This is how they look on a forum I visit.

I’d like the functionality to be able to send and read messages on playstation.com.

This feature is not yet available from the API that we use on the site. You can be sure that when it becomes available we’ll implement the messaging functionality on eu.playstation.com.
