Win A trip To France And Play Football On A Glacier With Friends

If you play in a five-a-side football team that is up for a challenge, then eu.playstation.com has an amazing competition for you.

Your team – that’s five starters and two substitutes – could be playing the beautiful game in one of the world’s most stunning locations: a glacier high in the French Alps.

All you have to do is head to eu.playstation.com/psn/competitions and match five famous football stadiums to the continents on which they can be found.

It’s all happening to promote a new range of SONY cameras that uses cutting-edge digital imaging technology for great photographic results in low light. A series of matches will take place in exotic locations, just as the hour of twilight moves around the globe during the Autumnal Equinox – and your team could be lining up for one of them.

You and your team-mates must be over 18 to enter and the individual submitting the entry must be signed into PlayStation Network. Be sure to read the full terms and conditions before entering.

Good luck!

Inferno Pool Master Class

You know you’re onto something good when the people who have been developing and testing a game for months on end are still hanging around at lunch and after work for yet another 4 player battle royal. So when Inferno Pool launched on PSN at the end of May we were all very excited, if a little nervous that people might mistake it as merely a great Pool simulator.

We had two main objectives when developing Inferno Pool; firstly we wanted to make a frantic multiplayer title which would keep players on the edge of their seats right until the end, and secondly we wanted the game to be dead easy to pick up and play, but with massive depth for experienced players to keep discovering new skills and techniques and become masters in their own right.

Of course as developers we were well aware of the array of hidden skills and techniques, and had cut our teeth in highly competitive matches against each other, so we were confident of kicking some serious ass when the game came out in public.

For the first couple of weeks, all went as planned. Dark Energy PSN IDs stalked their way to the top of the leaderboards, victory after glorious victory… we felt rewarded for all those hard months of work.

Then… something changed. It wasn’t just that players were learning about all the hidden skills and techniques, it wasn’t just that they were surprising us with tactics we’d never even thought of… they were ganging up on us! Here we were pursuing the deadly tactics we’d concocted over the last few months… and all of a sudden we’d get attacked from all sides at once. The other 3 players didn’t care which of them was to win… as long as they took the developer down!

You see… in all those months of going head to head against each other in the studio, each of us is of a fairly similar skill level, we’d only ever had one thing on our minds… out and out victory. It was quite delightful to see real players adapting to our experience and collaborating to put a halt to our cheeky assault on the leaderboards, and quite right they were too. We certainly deserved it!

Anyway, in the spirit of giving a little back, we’ve decided to come out and share some of the advanced techniques we so ruthlessly exploited for our own personal glory in those first days after release on the Inferno Pool homepage… click here to read them. This is just a sample of some of the skills of an Inferno Pool master, and there’s plenty more to discover when you dive into the game.

GT PSP Packfront

Hello everyone, its Penrose Tackie here with more news from the beautifully rendered world of Gran Turismo.

Today we take another step closer towards the launch of GT-PSP as we officially reveal the pack image. The car featured on the packfront for those without an encyclopaedic knowledge of cars is the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

The choice of what to feature as lead vehicle of a release as big as GT was a carefully considered process.

The resulting selection of one of GMs’ cars is clearly a reflection of Kazunori Yamauchi at Polyphony’s respect and admiration for the global motoring industry and the American giants in particular.

And it certainly hasn’t escaped the notice of Yamauchi-san that these are difficult times for the global and American motoring industry.

In a recent interview that he gave to the PlayStation Blog he expands on this theme and also the inspiration that he has drawn over the years from motor manufacturing Mecca, Detroit.

Kazunori Yamauchi

This spring I visited Detroit a few times, mainly to see the factories of the Big 3, and their museums and archives.

What I came to realize in those visits, was that the designs and mechanisms of American cars, in all eras over the years, have always been aimed towards a bright new future that all little kids dream about, and just seeing them makes your heart race.

I found that when I’m surrounded by these generations of American cars, it just simply makes me happy.

Buzz! Brain Of The UK Finalist Found!

Last night stage two of Buzz! Brain of the world was held in the UK. The top Brainiacs from all over the UK made their way to London to compete for the Buzz! Brain of the UK crown. Contestants flew in from every corner of the UK including Belfast, Glasgow, Bangor, even the Isle of Man and they all came head strong, ready to battle it out to the very end.

Buzz! Brain of the UK, Finalists

With a few unfortunately unable to attend at the last minute due to sickness the night began with three rounds of Buzz! seeing each contestant play for a place in the semi finals. Only two from each group could go through and after a nail biting couple of rounds our semi finalists were whittled down to the FINAL FOUR.

The final four consisted of Andrew, Ian, Glen and Tony of whom you can see below in the final photo. It was a nail biting finish and the final countdown round proved that anything could happen as the contestants podiums constantly fluctuated in height, battling for that place in the World Final.

Buzz! Brain of the UK, Finalists

We’d like to congratulate Ian for winning stage two and being crowned Buzz! Brain of the UK. We, the UK team, would like to wish Ian all the best in the World final, we know you can do it! Go and make us proud Ian :)

A huge thank you must also go out to all the contestants that came to the event and competed. We hope you all had a great time.

Burn Zombie Burn! At Home And In Space

Greetings! My name is Ollie Barder and I’m a senior games designer at doublesix, the studio behind the recent PlayStation Network exclusive Burn Zombie Burn! Along with other members of our studio, I worked a lot on the game’s scripting and level design. So when you see zombies and weapons spawn in lovely patterns and forcing you into choke points, that’s me.

We’ve also been hard at work at expanding the Burn Zombie Burn! universe since the game was released in March. With our new Home space, set in a themed graveyard, you can literally walk amongst the undead in the same way as you do in game. There’s also a cool maze populated with some zombies too. Naturally, there’s a selection of apparel available for purchase as well.

In addition to our new Home space, there’s also some DLC on the way for the game. Entitled “Burn Zombie Burn! In Space…”, this is two new levels set within an alien spaceship overrun by zombies. We’ve had a lot of fun making these new levels, as well as creating new modes for the whole game. Below is an exclusive trailer of these new levels in game. Enjoy!
