Hello all, I’m back for another week of PlayStation Store fun! As seems quite fitting after a couple of slower weeks on the store, this week’s update is absolutely crammed with content.
We have four PSN games up for grabs, from our very own Numblast, to the comic-inspired shooter Punisher: No Mercy, as well as the old-school classic James Pond: Robocod. We have plenty for PSP owners too, with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite available digitally, as well as the PSP version of Numblast amongst other things.
We’ll also have a special publish on Friday morning for the digital PSP version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (which should be available around mid-morning).
Add to all of that content such as the Expansion Speed pack for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, a hearty amount of additional content for you PS3 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 fans and LBP’s Sacktue of Liberty costume. There’s also another trailer for Battlefield 1943, which will be released next week (I’ve just read the review in my copy of Edge magazine today and it was given a healthy 9/10) so check that out if you haven’t already taken a look at this game. We also have plenty more Batman Arkham Asylum trailers on the store this week too, and this game is really looking like a good one.
Phew…I think that should be enough to keep us all busy for a week!

James Pond!! Nice!!
Pretty good update, those that complain clearly do so for attention or out of habit. How can 3 full games, a classic (a real one) and loads of DLC be a rubbish update?? Bit of a shame about no Punisher Demo but if its not given to them then what can they do?
Glad to hear Ghosbusters Demo is coming, want to try before I buy. Next week should be good with BF1943 thrown in as well.

Please Sony put Crash Bandicoot 2 back on the store you took it off because it was glitched or something and never bothered to put it back up im pretty sure it still is on the us store.
Apart from that solid update

Nice update today. Only one demo… but 4 games! And I’m really looking forward the BF 1943 game
EA said something about a demo. Do you know something about that? It will be released next week with the full game?
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:15 am by Mike Kebby
It’s going to be a trial and unlock, so you can try before you buy yes

Great Guitar Hero Update!

Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 6:18 pm by FascistBullyBoy
The items in the store are very over priced and this is not a good update.
Maybe you are refusing to ask about the store “demo” category on my behalf because of the paltry amount of demos on offer.

I was waiting for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to come onto the PS Store, so I could copy it to my PSP Go in October. But £24.99 is too expensive
I have bought The Punisher: No Mercy and the Motorstorm pack though.
I’m very happy with this weeks update, good job guys

Can i just ask? Why are the teams at SCEE never in contact? They always have to be chased to find out the simplest things…
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:16 am by Mike Kebby
I think you may not realise just how many teams work within SCEE…

I hoped that Tiger Woods 10 would be all digital for the PS3 also, then I would have bought. Love having games on the harddrive instead of disc.

Blimely an awesome update and still people aren’t happy – it’s official Mike Kebby has the most thankless job on the planet!!!!
It is a bit cheeky to charge twice for the same game, but then when it’s only £3.99 you can’t complain too much! I wasn’t going to bother with this one as I thought it was another £6.99/7.99 release but for £3.99 I think it’s worth it – I just wish more game releases & DLC were priced low for volume sales!
I also can’t believe James Pond has been put up! I had that on my Amiga and didn’t even know it was a PS1 release! I don’t normally go for retro releases but I’ve got to relive that one!
Well done Mike, you’ve got £7.98 out of me this week!!!

Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 6:20 pm by Naeeni
Utter crap, where’s the dam demos.
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:18 am by Mike Kebby
A trial is a demo, it’s just a demo that allows you to upgrade to the game at the end, therefore we DO have a demo this week.

DEAR MIKE!!!
Hope that got your attention..
Anyway, please, for the love that is all holy and Sack-like, can you PLEASE contact Konami and get some information on MGS1 for Europe?
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:18 am by Mike Kebby
As soon as there is some information I will share it, believe me questions are being asked
68
Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 6:24 pm by Apnomis
Also could I just add that the “Preview” of Numblast that appears on the checkout screen is one of the best I’ve seen – I know people like demos but when a preview spells out the concept of the game as clearly as that one you really don’t need one…
I wish more of the releases would have similar Previews to them.

When are we Europeans going to get some real PS One classics such as Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil: Directors Cut? Both of these games have been available on the US and Japanese stores for weeks/years!!! Why do us EU PlayStation gamers have to wait longer and pay more? Especially in this economy? It is beyond frustrating and something which must be sorted if Sony are to take the lead from Microsoft – who seem to have no problem with worldwide release dates.

This is actually ridiculous….

I wont risk paying £7-8 for games with no demo and no prior experience with the developers’ games. Fortunately it seems a Punisher demo was submitted to SCEA in time for release with the full game but Topatoi gets lost until there’s a demo.

I’m still waiting on some punisher reviews before getting it.

Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 6:36 pm by dazexus
Can you guys please attach screen shots to games on the store. I at least want to know what type of game I would be getting before I pay for the privilege.
Not as bad an update as the past two weeks but still really weak.
I would also like to know why we get PSone games months after our American counterparts….and why we pay more for the same things they get.
(I’m guessing this post will just be ignored like every week)
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:20 am by Mike Kebby
I’m actually quite shocked that I’ve read a few comments this week saying it’s a poor update – really, you believe that? If so, it really does prove that you can never please everyone. Oh well, I hope there’s something you will like in the coming weeks

IGN said there should be a demo of Punisher…
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/100/1000444p1.html
Let me guess, the US will get it?
No MGS, no demo for Punisher…at least we can buy it today…
Overall not bad update, but I’m still waiting for MGS, and demo for every game from PSS.
P.S sorry for my english.

James Pond 2: Robocod is a classic game, it’s old AND a very fondly remembered game. I think some unfavourable changes were made to the art/music of the PSone release compared to the Amiga version I’m used to but there were many differences between to the original versions too.

And it did! Now I can continue playing it when I get the PSP Go.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift – Expansion Speed (£4.79/€5.99)
The Expansion Speed pack contains three extra tracks, with three track variants, three previously unseen vehicles and a Speed mini-festival featuring 48 new brutal events. There are also plenty of unlockable rewards, and new trophies to be gained too.
NOOOO, I want this… Where are PSN cards?

I looked over this and thought it was a pretty decent update, particularly after the last two weeks were a bit lacking…No Metal Gear Solid yet, but I’m not in any rush for it and I have other Metal Gear games I can play to fill the gap. So I’m scrolling down the list thinking, there’s not much for me personally, but a pretty good update in general…
Then I saw that Rock Band Unplugged got Still Alive as DLC.
I don’t think I’ve ever snapped up DLC quicker. XD

Good update today SCEE, cant complain about the amount of content this week!
Question: I’m a little curious as to where all the film trailers have gone, have they stopped completely Mike?
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:22 am by Mike Kebby
I’m hoping that at some point soon we will see a return of the film trailers – however, don’t hold me to that just yet ;

Wow, I really love when a 9,99$ price tag is not converted to 9,99€. Yes, Punisher & Zen Games, Im looking at you, thank you very much. I just bought the game. I know theres no demo yet, but I dont care, good looking game + nice price tag = mindless buy. This is the way, Mike, this is the way ;D

Hi Mike if SCEE really want us to d’load digital titles like TW10 on PSP where is the incentive? This game is available for pre-order at a variety of sites for the princely sum of £15 approx, but SCEE expext us to pay 100% more, no thanks.
http://www.find-games.co.uk great game price comparison site.
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:25 am by Mike Kebby
As we are a shop-front, like any other retailers prices for 3rd party content are not our decision, therefore it is up to the publisher to decide how much to charge. I do certainly feel the frustration when digital pricing seems at odds with what you would pay on the high-street. This is a real issue with the digital vs physical debate I’m afraid…
