Hello all, I’m back for another week of PlayStation Store fun! As seems quite fitting after a couple of slower weeks on the store, this week’s update is absolutely crammed with content.
We have four PSN games up for grabs, from our very own Numblast, to the comic-inspired shooter Punisher: No Mercy, as well as the old-school classic James Pond: Robocod. We have plenty for PSP owners too, with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite available digitally, as well as the PSP version of Numblast amongst other things.
We’ll also have a special publish on Friday morning for the digital PSP version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (which should be available around mid-morning).
Add to all of that content such as the Expansion Speed pack for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, a hearty amount of additional content for you PS3 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 fans and LBP’s Sacktue of Liberty costume. There’s also another trailer for Battlefield 1943, which will be released next week (I’ve just read the review in my copy of Edge magazine today and it was given a healthy 9/10) so check that out if you haven’t already taken a look at this game. We also have plenty more Batman Arkham Asylum trailers on the store this week too, and this game is really looking like a good one.
Phew…I think that should be enough to keep us all busy for a week!

Very nice update. I’ll think about a purchase of Topatoi.
Concerning the PSP titles: Do you know or could you find out if there are any plans for releasing “Prinny, Can I really be the hero?” as a download soon? I don’t want to buy it on UMD. I’ve contacted the publisher myself, but didn’t get any answer. Maybe a Sony official would be more successful.

Hi Mike
I left this question last week but never got a reply so gonna try again this week
Can you please tell me why Rayman was released on Euro store but never made the Irish store
Thanks
Gerard
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:26 am by Mike Kebby
It was not submitted for release on the Irish store I’m afraid

Simultaneous releases are more often than not achieved by delaying ready regions until all regions are ready. Publishers, rating boards, Sony and any other processes games need to go through before release take different amounts of time in different regions.
If the release period of a game can be kept quiet until all regions are ready, nobody has any reason to complain because they don’t know they had longer to wait. Ignorance is bliss!
Who to complain to about the lack of Euro Metal Gear Solid? Unless you know which process is holding things up (Konami? PEGI/USK etc? SCEE?) it’s only polite to ask what the hold-up actually is.

Nice update, just too bad that I got my copy of MH:FU on UMD last week. Would have loved to get on my memory stick, but my patience was a little bit low on this.
Hope that I might be able to get the digital version later on when the PSPGo is about to be released (or maybe a little bit earlier *hint hint*).
By the way, will you guys be in Cologne in August? I just got the info today that I will be doing the network security concept for the event and would love to come around to say “Hi” if I get the chance.

@Onna76_NL: Well no, there are not forbidden in general. But a lot of these games (16 + and 18+) are not coming to the PSN Store. For whatever reasons, considering you can only pay with a creditcard.
@Mike: Any chance we will get the game here?
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:27 am by Mike Kebby
I’m hoping to able to bring some good news to our German users quite soon, just please be patient for a while longer

Any news on incoming info about the PSN cards so I can buy these downloadable games? You keep saying that you will have info soon but does that mean in a week, a month or even longer

Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 7:25 pm by Carl-G
I don’t know why people just don’t make a Euro + USA + Japan + China accounts? If there are no demos on Euro PSN 1 week, there might be some on the other ones, ect ect
And you can get PSN cards off ebay. I got a Japan PSN Card and i’m buying things off the Japanese store ;P

GREAT to see Thrice on Rock Band, especially

@ remanutd5
I really wish I could tell you,but I’ve decided in the last month or so,that no demo = no sale from me.
118
Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 7:38 pm by Arlanthir
But then again, Monster Hunter at £25£ and €40(!!!)… I think I’ll wait for the “good-will UMD program” from sony and import this one from UMD from elsewhere.
Saddens me to see it’s just £18 at amazon. I’d like to support the move to digital distribution, but there are limits =/
Still… Thrice. Now I’ve actually got to buy Rock Band. =X

Would we ever get the DLC for Dark Mist?
I just beat the game…it took me almost 3 hours…my wife was yelling at me that I should be in bed LOL…
Beautiful game, definitely one of the best PSN titles out there, a little sad that probably not many have played it.
I understand the Retro-feeling that Game Republic gave to the game but if they patch it to allow saves at Labyrinth level the game would benefit from it.
Also a Demo would help…Trophies would seal the deal but not sure if Game Republic has time for that right now
Sooo, any plans for the Japanese DLC to Europe or even a NA release?some buddies in the US ask me about the game when they see me playing it.
PLEASE PLEASE answer, can’t find much info about the game on the web and if the SCEE Blog doesn’t answer then I don’t know who can
… I have been waiting for our own Blog to ask about this
Thank you for your hardwork!
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:28 am by Mike Kebby
Good question, I have not seen any plans for such DLC for Dark Mist, but I’ll ask the question certainly

One of the burning issues with the store is that over time, games depreciate in value. This is evident in shops and online, all over the place.
The only place where the price doesn’t gradually lower over time is the PSN. I can see it being the case that in five years time things that were released for £25 will still cost that much (and possibly more due to inflation as they seem willing to raise prices as much as they like) since they aren’t willing to reduce prices to reflect what the product is actually worth.

@ 112….was just about to say that!!! i dont get it either!

I still do not understand why digital downloaded games cost more than the same title does you can physically hold…..
http://www.play.com/Games/PSP/4-/9623017/Monster-Hunter-F reedom-Unite/Product.html
£7 cheaper on PLAY, Amazon, gameplay…..
128
Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 8:12 pm by Darkos87
@127 maybe because the fact that it’s downloadable, means you can play the same copy however many times you like, or however many psp’s you want?

I was expecting to see MGS too. What’s with the delay?!
PSN has delivered some great games – Wipeout HD, Flower, GTI Club +, Pixel Junk Eden, The Last Guy and Final Fantasy VII (with only a minor delay). But the releases are sporadic and/or overpriced, Monster Hunter Freedom: Unite is £17.99 (inc. delivery)at all major online retailers!!!
The US and Japan have had MGS for weeks/months already. Come on Mike, PSN is a global community so please let us know when we should expect releases like MGS, or how long we should expect to wait. I thought PSN was starting to gather momentum following E3 and FF7, but PAL owners are still being kept waiting. It is even worse when you consider that Microsoft times releases globally – at least you seem to be performing better than Nintendo though.
I hate complaining, but this is a very serious issue for many PAL gamers!
Playstation 3 should be about us diving in and having a great experience, not waiting to do so whilst we see NTSC guys playing the games we’re hungry for – it’s not 1995 anymore!

We get a great update and still people complain. I can understand that there are certain things you really want, but come on..
I have a slightly offtopic question; Do you happen to know if the Dutch Store will ever get Crash Bandicoot 2 again? It was removed a long time ago for some reason and we never got it back, and I really want to play the complete original trilogy
136
Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 8:42 pm by GHenrik
Good update. I got topatoi and monster hunter.
Now to find someone to hunt with.
“When is the movie store coming to Norway?”
Stuff like this takes time. And I expect it to come to UK, france, spain, and germany first. :/

@Mike: Which PSP’s firmware does this version (DD, complete game) of MH:FU need?
141
Posted on 2 July, 2009 at 8:57 pm by Smegzilla
@135
Crash 2 was removed from all stores in the EU and was never put back up for whatever reason. I do know there were some issues when playing the game on the PSP but that was about it, surely they should have been sorted out by now. It’s a pain having 1, 3 and CTR and not having perhaps my favourite game in the series, Crash 2!

JAMES POND: ROBOCOD!!!! WOW! lol you have made me a happy man today Sony. thats a quality update. shame its the PSone version and not a one redone for PS3 with trophies (thats my trophy whore moment)
Still no word on metal gear? or the capcom stuff are american counterparts are getting?
this update is crammed with lots of little treats i must say. the statue of liberty costume is all well and good but how about something a little more british. i dunno maybe like the Royal Guards, or a Classic Britsih police outfit complete with baton.

Fantastic update! How anyone can complain about this week I don’t know.
The Speed expansion for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift though stole the show, great price for some fantastic content, Evolution Studios really nailed it with this dlc! If it wasn’t for that I’d be buying some off the new games, as it stands though they shall have to wait a few days
Oh and we still have more Motorstorm dlc to come, along with WipEout HD Fury! Way more excited for those bits of dlc than any off the games coming out soon.

Yet another awful week of updates huh? Were is my Skate 2 dlc? (without trophies btw) Were is the Fallout 3 dlc that was due mid june? Why are there no god damn demos of these new PSN games?!
Seriously, I’ve felt really short changed from PSN these last few weeks.

WHY DOESNT ANYONE REPLY TO ME!
WHY CANT YOU PUT THE GAME SIZES THERE?
PLEASE!
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:33 am by Mike Kebby
I’ve put game sizes on the PSP content and will continue to do so from now on – as for the PS3 content, it’s not as simple as just cuting and pasting, as we don’t store filesizes for that content; so for the time being I won’t be providing this information in my updates.

Wohoo, new equipment for Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires! Very good, though I have yet to see them. I also wonder why they didn’t make it in the release… Guess it’s KOEI trying to look better by releasing free DLC, too, in addition to paid DLC we’re likely to get later. Still, good.
Also, a free costume for LBP. Not my favorite… But this goes just fine. I liked last week’s costumer better, though. Still, I can’t complaing, this is pretty much good.
Anyway, one big complaint: Where’s MGS? I know it wasn’t promised… But they made it sound like everyone would be getting it – they didn’t specify who’d be getting it. Personally I didn’t expect it but I’ve been hoping for it since the initial announcement. I want to play MGS on my PSP, despite the fact that I already own the original PS1 version.
