Hello all, I’m back for another week of PlayStation Store fun! As seems quite fitting after a couple of slower weeks on the store, this week’s update is absolutely crammed with content.
We have four PSN games up for grabs, from our very own Numblast, to the comic-inspired shooter Punisher: No Mercy, as well as the old-school classic James Pond: Robocod. We have plenty for PSP owners too, with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite available digitally, as well as the PSP version of Numblast amongst other things.
We’ll also have a special publish on Friday morning for the digital PSP version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (which should be available around mid-morning).
Add to all of that content such as the Expansion Speed pack for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, a hearty amount of additional content for you PS3 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 fans and LBP’s Sacktue of Liberty costume. There’s also another trailer for Battlefield 1943, which will be released next week (I’ve just read the review in my copy of Edge magazine today and it was given a healthy 9/10) so check that out if you haven’t already taken a look at this game. We also have plenty more Batman Arkham Asylum trailers on the store this week too, and this game is really looking like a good one.
Phew…I think that should be enough to keep us all busy for a week!

Why does the rest of the world have to suffer while we all know that the SCEE is holding the Fat Princess release back? Take one for the team and let it release everywhere else! Or at least give us a two week window of when it will release. I’m tired of having to rate every psn store update post with a 1.

In the PSP store in Belgium I can find only 2 out of the 6 (5 PSP + 1 PSone) games mentioned.

Hey Mike..
Sorry if this is unrelated but is is true that Backwards compatibility was removed from the PS3 due to the fact that ps2 sales are sill strong and they don’t want to mess that up. There was a patent filed by Sony discovered recently that would allow any PS2 game to be played by the PS3. They says they are waiting for PS2 sales to dwindle and then BAM!! PS3 SLIM WITH FULL BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY!!
Any comments??

Not my area so I can’t pass comment.

@Mike
I asked Capcom about their PSP and PSone releases on the US PSN and whether they would be coming to Australia and guess what….? No Response. Can you please do some asking for me (us, or even Europe).
Plus Tapatoi isn’t on the Australian store. I read about it yesterday and wanted to give it a crack.
This weeks update is much better than the last two weeks but as always some burning questions:
*Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil 1,2,3 when are they coming?!?
*Capcom UMD Legacy titles, when are they coming to Euro/Australian PS Store?
*Will anymore full retail PS3 games (like Tiger Woods, Batman: AA) be released over the store?
Picked up Monster Hunter in a heart beat. Capcom – If you are listening! Release games on the Australian PS Store and I WILL BUY THEM!!!

What do you guys think??

Can I ask who sets the pricing for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite?
Reason being it’s £17.99 in the majority of retailers yet a digital copy which doesn’t need packaging or shipping costs more?
I just think signs like these will deter people from ordering a PSP Go in reality as the prices for the games will be higher than a physical copy.
Anyways a decent store update from the previous two weeks!

I give up… Whoever it is, whoever is responsible for this, to that person I say: You love torturing us, don’t you? Us Metal Gear fans who haven’t got the original game, and yearn for it. You love it, right?

If I seem evasive I apologise, however what is the point of giving you disinformation or conjecture when I have no update to give you. As SOON as I know what is going on with MGS I will let you all know – you have my word on this.
Also, as nicely as possible I ask this, please don’t swear at me again.

I was really hoping that during the PS3 Sony will stop treating Europe like the bastard child and we’ll actually get the same stuff at the same time as the rest of the world… I guess I was naive.
Where, I ask, is MGS, Medal of Honor games, Resident Evil, Suikoden, Crush Bandicoot 2… and why did Silent Hill disappear?
182
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 8:43 am by FallingStickman
Crash Bandicoot 2 of course.
Oh, and James Pond?! Really?

If everyones so annoyed with SCEE about te no where to be seen MGS1 etc just purchase a Playstation network card off ebay and purchase the game from the US store…..
Its so ironic that everything you lot moan about is on your PS3 as you rant. You just got to know how to get it.

*Sigh* Still not a single word about the Disgaea 3 Patches Trophyes and DLCs
Both US and JP stores and versions are up to 2 or 3 patches (don’t remember exactly), a ton of DLC and US got Trophies confirmed for later this summer, EU not getting even a word about if we will ever get any of those.
Considering we payed the game the same as the JP and US people, that the Disgaea 3 US version it’s the exact same of the PAL version except for the region code of the blue-ray and so on it’s both sad and embarassing that noone can take some of their time to simply change the region code of patches and DLCs to release them to the “poor europeans” too, estabilishing a sort of “equal behaviour” with all the customers
It’s not like they have to translate patches like from the JP to the US version after all… or at last say “sorry we are not gonna release anything for Disgaea 3 for the PAL territory”.

Please can you tell me why SCEE has such a weird, dumb and almost bad strategie about releasing contents in Germany. Every true gamer laughes about the German PSN Store because almost every content rated for aged 18+ like demos or even trailers won’t be released in the store! SCEE states that this is due to local youth protection BUT on Xbox LIVE in Germany there are no such problems?! Every demos and trailer and so on with a rating of 18+ gets a release on German Xbox LIVE! If you want to hold your customers instead of customers which are laughing at you and get angry try to release all content in Germany as well.

Mike, I was wondering if you know, or could you ask about, why Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords isn’t up on the Irish PSP store? Been interested in this game for a while and it’s almost impossible to get at retail these days. Any info would be appreciated

Now Sir keddy plz tell us with your wise wisdom, are we going to get fallout 3 dlc next week yes the Dev did say they finish it of & as well as mgs will we get castlevaina-SOTN as it was in SCEA stores For Aeons ago oh & Resident evil 1 2 & 3.
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 9:41 am by Mike Kebby
To avoid any disappointment on your behalf, I know the schedule for next week and there is no Fallout 3 DLC included. As Bethesda have said, they are working on the DLC and are planning on bringing it all to the PSN Store at some point – until they announce dates in the press we can’t give you any information other than that it’s coming.
I’m liaising with the relevant people here at SCEE to see what news there is on MGS, and the RE games from their respective publishers.

27 replies so far on a store update, excellent :]
Hows the coffee this morning?
Any chance btw of having US style overlay icons on the store? (telling whether the article is a psp/ps3/ps1/addon) Demo section and top-lists would be sweet too.
Also: on the Dutch psn store is the icon for Final Fantasy 7 missing, and the description is in mixed language, partly Dutch and what seems to be Spanish or Portugese.
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 9:44 am by Mike Kebby
Good coffee thanks, I usually go for the double shot from Pret, nice and strong
I am working with the guys in our creative team to test some new ideas for the icons on the store – we don’t have a definite plan as yet, so I can’t say for sure what will happen, but it’s something we’re taking a long hard look at.
Thanks for the heads-up on FFVII on the Dutch store, we’ll take a look at that now.
