Hello all, I’m back for another week of PlayStation Store fun! As seems quite fitting after a couple of slower weeks on the store, this week’s update is absolutely crammed with content.
We have four PSN games up for grabs, from our very own Numblast, to the comic-inspired shooter Punisher: No Mercy, as well as the old-school classic James Pond: Robocod. We have plenty for PSP owners too, with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite available digitally, as well as the PSP version of Numblast amongst other things.
We’ll also have a special publish on Friday morning for the digital PSP version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (which should be available around mid-morning).
Add to all of that content such as the Expansion Speed pack for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, a hearty amount of additional content for you PS3 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 fans and LBP’s Sacktue of Liberty costume. There’s also another trailer for Battlefield 1943, which will be released next week (I’ve just read the review in my copy of Edge magazine today and it was given a healthy 9/10) so check that out if you haven’t already taken a look at this game. We also have plenty more Batman Arkham Asylum trailers on the store this week too, and this game is really looking like a good one.
Phew…I think that should be enough to keep us all busy for a week!

QUOTE FROM MIKE
‘I’m actually quite shocked that I’ve read a few comments this week saying it’s a poor update – really, you believe that? If so, it really does prove that you can never please everyone. Oh well, I hope there’s something you will like in the coming weeks
’
I’d just like to clarify that I think this update is not that bad just it is not a strong as say next weeks one will be (BF 1943)
What annoyed me about your reply mike is that you read and completely ignored my questions.
Question 1: Can you guys please attach screen shots to games on the store. I at least want to know what type of game I would be getting before I pay for the privilege.
Question 2:I would also like to know why we get PSone games months after our American counterparts…
Question 3: Why do we pay more for the same content than our American counterparts.
If there are reasons you cant answer this then just say, its worse when you just gloss over it or ignore it all together when there is clearly a collective feeling on these topics.
If you read this please reply!

thank you for your quick response & im glad you be talking with konami-europe & capcom-europe on the games we want, so you know what‘s comming out next week can you enlighten us what‘s in store next week today & not sit on the infor till next thursday it will stop the speculation. :p
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 10:02 am by Mike Kebby
The only reason I don’t post content lists before the Thursday it comes out, is that there sometimes are occurences where content is pulled at the last minute, or we find last minutes issues with it.
I’d rather not give an exact list of content to avoid disappointment if we do run into such problems.

About 189 i know it’s not Mike that can directy answer my question about Disgaea 3, i’m simply asking you Mike if you can please get some info about it for us, as you’d probably get an answer about it from NIS/SQE

Howdy Sir Kebby
I don’t know about the others but a think most of the “this update is crap” is kinda disappointment for a lack of Fat Princess and Trine. the latter especially, as with a demo released on steam, people are really hanging out to get it on PSN.
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 10:11 am by Mike Kebby
I understand the frustration about Fat Princess – but it should never have been announced for a certain release period, and as I said a coupld of weeks ago we can only be as loose as saying it’s coming at some point.
As for Trine, it’s unfortunate there is a Steam demo out before our release, but the full game has been submitted for a PSN release and should be available at some point in the coming months. More news about this when I’m given the okay to say as such

Hey Mike,
Can you comment on the numerous PS1 games, such as Tekken 3, Ridge Racer, Colony Wars and Wip3out, plus more, that have been rated by PEGI for release on PSN but so far there has been no sign of a release for any of them.
Thanks.

Man I have you can keep this up because it helps for sure. But I hope you won’t get a depression from some lame people :s some people just lack respect.
Oh and I like your new nickname Sir Kebby
PS: @everyone: please stop asking about MGS he said he was all over it. He is looking into it!!!

I have another question, if I plan to buy things from the UK store do I have to spend british pounds or can I use euros too?
Thanks in advance!!!

If you’re buying from the UK store, prices are indeed in our Great British Poundage

Could you answer this query please
Is there any plans for a Pal version of Pulse and Qore.
Don’t know how you cope with all flak the children send you, definitely a case of should be seen and not heard.

STORE UPDATE – Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (PSP digital version) has now gone live on the stores.
Also, we mistakenly put a price against the Rock Band Unplugged track ‘Sill Alive’ when it should have been free of charge. Our sincere apologies for this, this has now been amended on the store and you can contact our consumer services team for a refund if you did purchase it.

Mike could you please answer my comment regarding the PS1 games that have been on PEGI’s website for some time?
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 11:32 am by Mike Kebby
I’ve got nothing to feedback on I’m afraid, just because games have been given a rating by PEGI does not mean they have been submitted to us for release on the store. If I DO get visibility on such titles and can give any info out, I’ll try and do so
216
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 11:32 am by Apnomis
@ glaw73, Pulse and Qore are SCEA initiatives so won’t come to the SCEE Store in that format.
However I do remember reading that Future Publishing (the company that runs the Qore digital mag) were planning on launching a Europe (or at least UK) version this year. It’s not Qore and won’t be called Qore (thank God) but will be a similar concept.
Sir Kebby do you have any comment on the SCEE/Future Publishing partnership and any ‘loose’ release dates?
P.S. I fully agree with Jerommeke, Sir Kebby deserves a raise
P.P.S. It may make you feel a bit better to know the SCEA store guys are getting it in the neck for not releasing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on their store when SCEE have it!
P.P.P.S I think it’s really unreasonable to call an update rubbish just because one particular piece of content isn’t included, even if said content was never meant to release in July! There will always be new releases in the pipeline so there will always be something else to want, by this logic Sir Kebby will not get positive feedback from you until the final ever update of the PSN Store!!!!

yo, Mike
Nice so see a decent amount of feedback. It’s well appreciated.
Any word on the Bionic Commando Rearmed patch? This blog said that it was in QA on June 18th, and i thought that once a patch has been submitted to Sony for QA, it takes 2 weeks? Seems i was wrong.
Also, i think it’s great that your looking at the icons on the EU PS Store, that has been bugging me for a looong time. What’s equally bad though, it that a PS Store item only has a “name field”, and doesn’t specify what game it is for. “Summer add-on pack” doesn’t say anything. Sometimes you have to either read several sentences into the description to find out what game it is for. Sometimes it is even worse, i have to look at the frikkin icon-pic to find out game it is. The pic doesn’t always include the name of the game either, so i have to look at the pic and go like… “hmm, yeah that character kinda looks like it belongs in Ninja Gaiden, that’s probably it”
Is it so difficult to add a “type of item” and “game/platform” field that is easily viewed in the store?

Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 11:44 am by Kyo_Daikun
It certainly was a better update than the american one, I would really appreciate it if you could pester bethesda on the fallout dlc as alot of my friends keep nagging me when its coming out!
Have a good weekend Mike (looks like its raining for the most part saddly)
219
Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 11:50 am by SleepMachine
hmm, there’s no edit function here?
Anyways, one example of a bad store item as i mentioned above is “Tiki Polynesian Ball Pack (Game Pack)”
okay, so the item type is included at the end of the “name/title” field but there’s no mention of the game until the end of the description.
There is a High Velocity bowling splash in the corner of the thumbnail, but it should be easier to read. (IE normal text somewhere accessible, while browsing through updates. Preferrably somewhere near the “title” and “price” rows in the list view)

Posted on 3 July, 2009 at 12:00 pm by SleepMachine
sorry for spamming comments, but i just saw that the us store named the aforementioned store item:
“High Velocity Bowling: Tiki Polynesian Ball Pack (Add-On Content)” which is a much better naming scheme.
the EU Store should name them the same, or make some improvment like i mentioned earlier.

Hi Mike
Great update which puts the last 2 weeks into perspective
Bought The Punisher but was shocked at the lack of game launching support from Home :O
Please could you pass on to the relevant people the need for this in future releases

Games on the hard drive are better as there’s no changing discs
This also would help more people go into Home

Hey, Mike. Here’s something you should pass onto the Store team: on the Irish store, Final Fantasy VII isn’t listed in the PS1 Classics section on the store. It was put into the Latest section when it was released, but not archived. It’s still there when you use the search feature, but it’s not in the PS1 Classics section. Just in case someone not as feature-savvy as ourselves wants to buy it, and can’t find it!
I love this blog. Such an great way to give you guys feedback. I sure you know exactly what we’d like to see in the future, eh Mike?

hello.
good update overall… about the delay of pal version of games is it because they have to work on the multi language? is it why they are more expensive? most of europeans speak english and for games is only what we need… dont delay it because of multi language!

Sir Mike,
First of all, I think you should recieve a medal for the abuse you get on here by some people. I know there are limitations on what information you can give and what information you have but some people just need to use their brains.
Thanks for the good update, as soon as I get paid there will be a few purchases from me.

“but the full game has been submitted for a PSN release and should be available at some point in the coming months.”
Months,it’s already out though.shouldn’t it only be weeks.
Also it’s disappointing to read a the developer say this.
” The simple answer is that we don’t know. It’s beyond our control now, and we are hoping for the best.
There will be a PSN demo (at least that’s the plan) but it will be released after the game has been released on PSN, unfortunately.”
I feel another SF2HD coming.

Hey mike I just thought id leave a few words and say I kind agree with a few people here! When they say that this update was not that good, reason being the bulk of the content was psp and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
now im not saying im ungrateful for your efforts, but we do need demos not having demos just makes the gamer feel they are forced to buy the game just to play it and then find out they don’t like it.
I know the name of the game is to make more sales/money but giving demos just gives us variety, not just that but I think more psn games for the ps3/psp are needed to, dl content is good but not so good if you’re not interested in a certain game or haven’t bought it hence why many people many think this could be a poor update.
so I have a question I would like to ask! Is there any possible reason why there is only a update every Thursday and say not twice a week? and if not then why?

Another great update, thanks guys ..
Would be nice if the store had a ‘Demo’ tab, you know to keep things simple & answer the millionth time someone has asked ..
Place a new tab ‘We Recommend’ under the main logo, next to ‘Store Top’ & replace it with ‘Demo/Trials’ .. simple ..
Please thank those responsible for the ‘SuperStardustHD’ anniversary price drop .. anymore price drops planned? We still think things are a little over-priced & in Home too .. It’s the consensus, sorry ..
keep on keepin on ..
PS: No Trial = No Buy

Sir Kebby of Awesomton…
Whatever happened to OPM HD? There was a website where you get notified about it’s release, and possibly win a free copy of Kilzone 2.
And what about Spyro. I know you must get sick of me asking but it’s the game that got me started on PS1, would be great to have it with me on my PSP. I used to kick names and take ass with that game
OK, I’ll stop with the obscure Unforgotten Realms quotes :/

Sir Kebby! ;P
Just a minor bug I have with the PSN Store, every time I try to open up the Killzone 2 section to pick up the map packs, I have a broken image icon and there is nothing in that section.
Not sure whats causing this, but I dont seem to be able to fix it, and I dont know if its effected any other users. It’s the Swedish store is that helps?
Thx!

Still no Metal Gear Solid…
I’d like to say that I’m surprised….. but I’m really not.
Every update that does not have MGS is a disappointing one.
A map that shows how I feel:

Yeah, at last the Blast Factor trophies appear!!!!
I’d love to know what caused the 7 month delay…..????
But I’d rather know that the patches for….
The Last Guy ( I think Mike has said its coming at some point?)
Dark Mist (Don’t think Mike has answered this one, just passed the Q onwards)
are coming to the EU???
Otherwise a decent update, a demo should be standard as on the 360.
Nothing for me this week though.

Mike,
Any date for The Last Guy trophy patch and also the DLC? I believe America and Japan have had them for at least two or three weeks now, so I’m kind of hoping SCEE won’t be far behind.
Thanks.
