You’ve seen the PMCs, you’ve seen the scale of the battles and you’ve learnt about the “Shadow War”, but I know the question you are all really asking is: “How do I stop the battle descending into a chaotic, messy, free-for-all?”. The answer is simple; command and control. Watch this final part of the MAG developer diaries to have Zipper explain how you can command your troops as a squad/platoon/company commander, and how you can stay focused on your objectives as trooper out in the field.
While that’s the end of the current series of developer diaries, we will return to the blog with more info in the coming weeks…

I’ve got a nasty feeling that people won’t care about levelling up all that much – and not bother with some squadleader who’s bossing you around.
I for one wouldn’t be interested in playing the role of a squadleader, I just want to mow down some people with a rifle. This game isn’t for me is it?

Zipper are very conscious of this and are working hard to implement features that encourage *all* players to play within the design parameters of the game, without actually forcing them to do so. One such feature is that of ‘buffs’, which act like perks when you are within a specified radius of your leader. For example, so long as you stay near your leader and can see the buff indicator on the HUD, you might get an automatic health replenishment that increases your chances of staying alive longer.

I want to love this game but there’s just too much going on with the HUD in my opinion – Just looks a little cluttered.
Will there be any way to disable some of the information which is currently present on the HUD, in the options menu or something?
Thanks.

The HUD is not final at this point and is likely to undergo further revisions before release.

Hey Guys. Nice video, but i just wantet to ask one Q.
How does the size of the factions affect the shadow war..?..if one faction have a lot more players than one of the other factions, then you should think that “ranking” up in the shadow war would be a lot harder for the team with the least number of players.
The reason why i ask is that in almost every post/msg i read about witch faction people would like to join, most people say “Raven” witch would put the other faction a an disatvantage or what..?

The Shadow War is not tied directly to sizes of factions, but rather scores and results from battles. If your team wins a battle in a game and secures that contract, your faction’s stake in the Shadow War increases. As you are always likely to be playing in full games, these numbers are kept consistent and do not necessarily depend on the size of the faction.
Having said that, if there are more games being played between any two factions than the third then that could skew results slighly. Does this really make it a disadvantage though? There are always losers in war and the smaller faction has to work harder on their recruitment drive!

Maybe the game will autoselect which faction you are on much like KillZone and COD. Perhaps only in private or clan matches will you be able to pick your faction.
Or
You can search for games based on the faction you require – when all Raven games are filled up for instance you will have to chose another. I personally like the look of the gritty grungy faction – is it SVER?
I love the look of this game, it looks like KillZone2 on steroids – the objective based battle system is cool, and I for one would love to be giving orders to others!!!

This may have been answered in a previous blog post! But what features are being implemented to allow a balanced fight between ranks
e.g. a rank 14 player against a rank 1 player!
the worst thing for this game would be overpowered players because of ranks. After all war is kill or be killed!

Hey, what about if you guys fix this issue;
I have WipEout HD, and I used to play it Multiplayer. But since I went to my cousin’s house and added my info on his PS3, now I can’t play WipEout HD Multiplayer! When I got to his house again I deleted my account from his PS3, but even though I deleted it, I can’t still play it online!!!

When you get to do training for the 3 factions before actually choosing a side, do you train among bots and dummies and does the training supply a number of tip’s and tricks you can learn?
