Hi, not sure if this is a bug or intended to make the Bling Brigade trophy easier to get, but it seems that the Fury ships count. I just organised a race, 7 of us had the chrome skins and one guy was confused and had not even unlocked the skin yet, on the third race he used a Fury ship and we all got the trophy. Should probably be fixed as it kinda sucks for all the players who worked hard to get that trophy I guess?

Just took this from: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2009/07/15/wipeout-fury-dated/

WipEout Fury Dated
By Peter C [ColossalBlue], Site Editor

We’re pretty excited about the upcoming WipEout HD DLC. You might have noticed, we talk about it whenever we get a chance. Well, thanks to the wonders of Twitter and a bloke called JamboGT (not even sure if he’s on TSA) We’ve got another excuse to talk about it. Excitingly we’re getting to tell you that it has an official Sony release date. OK so for the time being it’s only on the official Hong Kong site but we really can’t imagine Hong kong getting the content and the rest of the world being denied it.

The date to mark on your calenders is July 24th 2009. Which is soon, hurrah!

@78 There is motion control in Wipeout HD, you can turn motion control on/off in the settings so you can drive/fly/hover only with the use of the motion control.

Hope it helps a bit. :)

Hello,

Thank you for sharing all your thoughts and ideas about design and gameplay. This is so rare nowadays, I have read all of it, and bought WipeOut HD one week ago. I love it !

One question: could you, one day, add Motion Control ? This would be awesome with a game like Wipeout ...
Iam thinking about a future update, as this would need tweaking/testing I guess.

Cheers.

Hi armorvil

We love cutting edge, futuristic architecture :)

Natural environments are cool too but we there`s more scope to legitamising crazy shapes with man made structures.
If we tried the same thing with landscapes the tracks would start looking like they were set on an alien world.

cheers

Hi AZanshin

You`re right, the Fury's architecture and ship designs have evolved from the original HD game which gives Fury a distinctive cutting edge aesthetic.
However, as a result of developing the designs of the original game the Fury pack we have achieved continuity with the look of HD.

Thanks

Cheers for the answers Paul. : )

My main concern with the stat increases is that it might skew online time trials towards Fury's craft if it means laptimes are permanently reduced using them, but knowing the Wipeout crowd, I'm sure that'll just encourage some players to try and eke out as much performance from the original craft as they can to match them. Aesthetically speaking, I prefer the look of the Fury craft.

Hi, Paul & Marcus.

You know you made one of the best games ever with WipEout HD, so I'll get right to my question. It's regarding WipEout environments : why so many artificial settings compared to natural ones ? In HD, 6 tracks out of 8 are in an urban environment. A lot of players have fond memories of the endless plains, forests or deserts in the previous titles. Will nature make a come-back in the future ?

Hi JamboGT,

That is a good idea but, no I'm afraid not. You can either choose the WipEout music or a created playlist. Sorry.

Thanks,

Hi Concepting,

I'll tackle your questions.

1. The HUD thing I don't think will be an issue. The three new modes have their own distinct HUDs which work well and shoe-horning them into the WO3 or 2097 style would have taken a long time to develop and test and might not have even worked. You'll see when you see them just how specific to the modes they are. Also, it's not like they're in the same style per se as the HD HUD either. They are pretty much their own thing(s).

2. It's certainly an interesting idea to explore the WipEout Universe in other genres but nothing is planned at the moment.

3. I understand the concerns about the stat increases but they're so minor that they don't make that much of a difference in race. The old ships can still hold their own. When you've played it, let us know if you agree.

Thanks,

Paul.

A few questions (one of which has no chance of being answered, but hey, I tried ;))

1) While I realise that time issues prevented the alternative HUDs from being modified for Fury, is there a chance that you might consider releasing an update to include them later down the line? While the visual design in HD is gorgeous, I can't help but feel the subtlty of Wipeout 3's HUD feels makes it feel less in your face about the information it presents.

2) Considering how much attention has been lavished on HD's environments, and the fact that it still posesses a unique style compared to most videogames, have you ever thought about branching its world out into another genre? There's so much variety to the landscape that I hardly doubt I'm the only player who'd love to explore more within an action adventure setting (particularly after playing Mirror's Edge).

3) Aren't you concerned that the stat increases to Fury's new ships might unbalance the game with regards to the original craft? I believe the improvements are supposed to be small it runs a risk of alienating vanilla HD when it comes to time trials.

(Apologies for the double post, mods. Some of this appeared on the ship design blog yesterday by mistake post-login)

One more quick question, will we be able to mix songs on our own playlists with those already available with the game. I would love to include WipEout HD's music tracks with my own while racing. Especially with that great Noisia tune from the Fury trailer.

Since Fury is nearly a new overhall when it comes to graphics and textures, how will you keep original wipeout hd tracks to look as fresh as the new fury ones.

I really like hearing from development teams who are so passionate about their product. You can really gain a sense that the final product will be well worth waiting for. The original WipEout HD still is one of the best downloadable titles out there and I'm sure Fury can stand up there with it.

Thanks for answering. I apologise for using the word gimmick. Was maybe the wrong word to use, though I still don't like rolls lol. I know you put alot of thought into everything wipeout, and it's very much appreciated. Loved and played all the wipeout games for many years. Any thoughts on using ps camera to take mugshots, etc?
