I know for many of you this week couldn’t come soon enough (myself included), as this week sees the release of the brilliant Battlefield 1943. For those of you who enjoy a good session of online multiplayer shooter action, this is a great new addition to the genre, and set against such beautiful backdrops too.
This week we also have two demos available for you to try, we finally have Ghostbusters on the store (a game which needs no introduction from me), and we also have a demo for the epic racing game Fuel.
The second expansion pack for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is available this week too, as well some extra content for Skate 2, High Velocity Bowling, Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires, and as usual extra tracks for Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band. There are also a handful of additional PSP games available for download now too.
Right, off to the battlefield!

So EU video store?
Bomberman?
When are we getting these Mike?
Surely the EU video store must be nearly ready? It’s almost like waiting for GT5.
Posted on 9 July, 2009 at 5:28 pm by Mike Kebby
Blog readers should be the first to find out about Video Store when there’s something to be said
Bomberman is coming this summer, date has yet to be confirmed.

It’s in the process of updating – I think we jumped the gun a little bit with posting the update on the blog, that’s my bad though.

I can understand the frustration some users may get when the update is less than what is expected, but its really not Sony’s fault most of the time and it definitely isn’t Mike’s. For the people who are complaining about a lack of Fallout DLC, ask Bethesda, or Microsoft if its something to do with the exclusivity deal. No MGS? Bug Konami and ask them to hurry up.There’s only so much Sony can do to bring content to the store. If the content is simply not ready, nobody can do anything about it, so sit tight for another week.
Anyway, this update is pretty awesome, so I hope nobody is complaining.

Thanks for the reply Mike.
Believe me, it’s not just you going crazy over this whole Metal Gear Solid fiasco.
I’ve been holding out for this game for over a month and Konami won’t even give anyone an answer.
It’s crazy!
Thanks again Mike.

Mike,
Any idea when or if the Dark Mist update and dlc will ever make it to SCEE ???
63
Posted on 9 July, 2009 at 5:31 pm by geddesmond2
Look its hard enough dealing with exclusive and timed exclusive games on the xbox 360 but this exclusive and timed exclusive crap SCEA has over SCEE is really starting to become a joke. I’m sorry but I really bought into the PSP go concept. Being able to download all these games and carry them with you, but god dam does Sony really expect Europeans to go out and buy a psp go when america and asia are getting all the Classic games. I don’t want no James Pond. whats that a game for a 5 year old. I’m 24 years old for christs sake

I know it’s out of your control, but could you look into whether Rock Band Unplugged is being released digitally soon?
Also (and this one is entirely within your control):
CRASH BANDICOOT 2.
Posted on 9 July, 2009 at 5:34 pm by Mike Kebby
I can’t give the specific reason, but Crash 2 was removed for legal issues – I am trying to find out if we will ever get this back on the store, but at the moment I’m not too confident about that…

Archer Maclean’s Mercury (£4.79/€5.99)
Championship Manager 2006 (£3.99/€4.99)
= Pricing done right. We be getting mercury in a few weeks. Oh, and championship manager is £3.19 on the store. But it’s good to see old games on the store like that. Any chances on Fifa 07? And since these prices are good, could you also lower WipEout Pure, £14.99 isn’t what id pay for a launch title 4 years on. Ive got it on UMD but want a download version, but not paying £15 or it!

Great! I’m getting Bf1943 and Motorstorm Adrenaline pack….
Now where is my store update? it’s not updated yet….
Pst: I want bomberman soon!!
And some Call of Juarez DLC would be good to keep my summer going…

Posted on 9 July, 2009 at 5:36 pm by Amherst_Wind_4
Yay! Battlefield 1943!! £10 is just a ridiculously, insanely, crazy low price for this game. I just can’t beleive it!
So are we supposed to download the trial first, then purchase the unlock key?

Really nice update, I’ve always wanted to sample Fuel and Ghostbusters. And Battlefield pretty much speaks for its self doesn’t it.

Posted on 9 July, 2009 at 5:39 pm by Shift_Breaker
Yessssss, Pearl Jam pack, just what I’ve been waiting for. The store hasn’t updated for me yet, though.
There’s a lot of variation this week. Will there be any news when we get Crash Bandicoot 2 and Spyro back on the store? How about some other games the US store has had for ages, like Castlevania.
76
Posted on 9 July, 2009 at 5:39 pm by dazexus
Haha Mike I bet you love weeks like this where there is some good content! Quick question, do you have any idea why we have a slow stream of PS1 classics….my wallet wants to be in your store right now! (that sounded more sexual that it was meant to, sorry)
Also on a side note I am so glad that that for once $15 = £9.99 and not $15 = £15

Okay, so Crash 2 was removed for legal reasons. Fair enough (it’s nice to actually have a response after week’s of trolling). But what about the three Spyro games?

Mike, I asked this last week and got no response but I thought I might as well try again: Is Puzzle Quest(PSP) going to be made available on the Irish PSP/MediaGo store anytime soon? As far as I can tell it’s up on the UK store but not the Irish store, so is there any way around this?

Legal reasons? I heard it was technical problems. What sort of legal issues would there be in Europe only for a game series which has 3 other games in the series already available in the store?

@81
I’m very sure Crash 2 was removed because of techinical problems, it was all over the PS Forums at the time it was removed. There were compatibility problems with putting it on the PSP.
I had a lot of back and forths with Sony at the time (trying for about 2 months to get a refund) because I’d been allowed to purchase the game but not download it, so I talked to them a lot about the game and am 99% sure it was just technical problems which led to it being pulled from the store.

Any word from the powers that be about a demo category on the store?
Is there a plan to give us one?
If not will they consider it?
If they won’t even consider it is there a reason why?

Good work on bringing BF1943 here on release date.
However.. do you have any news whatsoever on Worms in Australia Mike? Last I heard it passed our classification board, but still nothing. Can you make some calls or something? Likewise with some other games, but I’m sure you’ll get enough comments about them
Good work on the earlier update this week too.
