The problem is that we can’t force the publishers to release content in every one of our stores/locales, and I know that people will always point to our competitor’s global store, however because we have a different online model (one that does not charge the consumer) we will sometimes see discrepancies in content being available in certain regions.

I certainly appreciate that you, our consumers, will feel frustrated at times when content is not always available, and we will endeavour as much as possible to ensure this does not happen too frequently.

As for your concern about the store updates on the blog, they (and myself) are going nowhere, you can’t get rid of me that easily

Okay some Puzzle Quest clarification for you. Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords and Galactrix, are both available as PS3 versions on the Irish store. However, the PSP version of Challenge of the Warlords was not released in Ireland.

Cheers for the response Mike. However, it does leave me concerned about the future of this blog (and your participation in it).

Nobody can expect you to issue individual listings for each PAL territory, but if games are only going to be released on certain stores and not others then I can see a heck of a lot more complaints appearing. I mean, look at the anger in here about the disparity between the PAL and US stores.

I know already that your response will be to take up the issue with the publishers, but I just think this sets a worrying precedent for future updates.

Championship Manager 2006 was not submitted for release in the Irish store I’m afraid, however Puzzle Quest should be showing in your store – we’re looking into that now.

It’s our job as consumers to make Mike aware of what we find frustrating. I’m not saying it’s his fault or anything, but it IS his job to take the heat. Some day, when Sony execs aren’t too busy finding excuses to why they still have job there, they might actually listen and make a better release policy. The fact that Europe has to wait I don’t know how long for almost EVERYTHING is Sony and ONLY Sony’s fault. The could easily DEMAND worldwide release, and they could do even easier on their OWN games. Anyway, good job Mike, I think you’re really doing a good job of answering people and blogging. Know that I don’t blame you, I just find nowhere else the vent my frustration about my PS3 woes

I hope that when and if the higher.ups ask you what the general feel is you also tell them about our frustration when regional releases!

Can anyone confirm my suspicion that Championship Manager 2006 is not actually up on the Irish store? I’ve searched high and low for it and can’t find it. Am I gonna have to set up a UK account to get games now?

I don’t think anyone can blame Mike for anything, he’s just working hard to bring us info

While it may be annoying, moaning is often the only way to get things done. Apathy isn’t going to improve the store is it?

Sure things might be great for PS3 owners, but EU PSP owners are getting pretty abysmal service compared to the US…

Thank you to (187) nofi and (188) Skookie30 for their answers! nice to see there’re people that knows how to use community sites rather than use them only to complain and think that every PS3 feels the same about SCEE or is 10 year old for being happy with an update!

Little sad that people don’t appreciate having an official BLOG, first they complained about not having a EU Blog and now that they have it use it still to complain… this is a great feature, you get nes and replies from community folks, publishers and devs…how many times those replies don’t go around internet as news? We get first-hand information!

gaming is just a hobby, if it causes you stress then maybe you should find something else.

Keep it up SCEE!!

Oh and for the whiners, I seem to remember a time when you got a couple of playable demos a month from a magazine and that was good enough, now we get all sorts of content on a weekly basis, you can let them off for weeks when content is lower than usual.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I think everyone giving him a hard time about the store updates needs to calm down.

I think the store updates are on the whole have been generally good over the last few months and with the amount of new content being added to Home now as another bonus.

Everyone please remember software/game devlopment takes time and the slightest thing can cause problems. I would rather have solid, no buggy software that is how it was intended as opposed to some rushed job just to get it out the door which keeps crashing my PS3. If it’s not ready it’s not ready.

Remember Sony don’t charge anything for PSN. For a similar service on Xbox you have to pay.

Also Battlefield rocks!

I agree with sammi these updates are not good. I think the only people that are happy are 10 year olds.
How hard is it to have a classic every week? the US store and asian stores get all the good stuff and we get lumbered with the rubbish, FF7 doesn’t make every update sony does great.
I’m sure out of the whole ps1 library you could find at least one you can add to the store every week, I really don’t believe that these companies don’t want to make money.

When will you release the video store? I am eagerly awaiting this! Should at least be easy for you to get licenses arranged for the movies from your own production company right?

And on a different note, have you considered making music applications for e.g. spotify and/or last.fm? It would be an excellent expansion for ps3 as the ultimate next generation multimedia console!

Well we’ll agree to disagree on what constitutes a good update then Samii – I think a couple of demos and a great game is a good update, you have to remember like any store, it’s not always possible to have a great line-up of new content every single week. Again though, everybody’s different, so we won’t be able to please everyone each and every week.
