Hello again!
It’s time for the SingStore update and without further ado, let me introduce you to this week’s brand new tracks.
You asked for more Depeche Mode so you’ll be pleased to see ‘Everything Counts’ in this update, plus SingStar must-haves ‘Smooth Operator’ by Sade, Somebody To Love’ by Queen and Gloria Estefan’s ‘Dr. Beat’
For all fans of the hottest tunes of the moment there’s Kasabian’s recent single ‘Fire’ plus some great tracks by The Coral, The Hold Steady and Coldplay.
Foreign language songs this week come from Finland, France, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands in the shape of artists Happoradio, Quidam and Guus Meeuwis to name a few.
We’ve recently had some reports from the community about ‘Charmless Man’ by Blur being slightly out-of-synch. I’m glad to say that this has been fixed so if you have previously downloaded this track, please delete it from your hard drive and re-download it from the store anytime after Thursday and everything should be ‘nananananaaanaaaaa’ again.
Speak soon,
Nina x

I’m sure the pop and drippy indie sells very well, but I hope there’s going to be more rock and maybe even heavier tracks being added to the store. Hasn’t been anything to entice me for ages which is a real shame as there’s only so many times you can sing the same songs.
I know that there’s a lot of people that feel the same way and I’m guessing that more sales = happy Sony. As a reference these are some of the existing artists on the store/older Singstar discs that are in the same sort of bracket as what I’m on about:
Avenged Sevenfold
Black Sabbath
Faith No More
HIM
Incubus
Kings Of Leon
Korn
Marilyn Manson
Motorhead
Nirvana
Offspring
Placebo
Queens of the Stone Age
The Vines
Weezer
Too much to ask?

I agree with amplifiedAnt…. need more rock!
Particularly Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, and Kings of Leon. I am going to guess that because they are in Rock Band we will never see them in SingStar again. Shame!
If only there was a way that everyone could work together and come up with a universal gaming file format… so one file could be used in Rock Band, SingStar, Guitar Hero, and any other music game. Tricky, but imagine how much better it would be…

Thanks for the update! Let me add my feature requests to the wishlist:
1) Being able to play the PS2 discs in Pass the Mic mode
2) Being able to turn off the dowloaded content (I think someone already asked for this above though) – if I want to have an Abba SingStar Pass the Mic party I don’t want the other stuff interfering. And when you start to have a lot of downloaded songs, it no longer really matters which disc you have in, so it makes no sense to even buy the discs anymore. (hint hint to the marketing department!)
3) Creating your own songlists with the downloaded content, so you could have that Abba/Queen/80s list and use just that when you want to.

i have been reading some of the suggestions for future updates to singstar and i know the issues with “Ripping” the tracks to the harddrve (althought the suggestion of a timed “rip” would be great) an option whereby you can select all of the PS3 and PS2 singstar disks you own, so that all the track from these disks appear in the list of tracks. And when a track is clicked with will tell you which disk it is on and prompt you to load it, that way you have a list off all tracks available not just those on the disk inserted.
that way when you have a load of friends round you dont have singstar cases being passed around all the time looking for tracks to sing.
