So this week should be more pleasing than last week’s update, as we have two full games, one demo, and a nice array of add-on content for you.
Where to start, where to start? How about the much anticipated WipEout Fury expansion pack which is now available? Or the third map pack for Killzone 2, Napalm and Cordite, with two new weapons and two new maps, as well as a bundle pack of all three packs for anybody who has yet to try any of the previous maps. As for the two new games available for you, they come in the form of Shatter and Crystal Defenders, both taking well known gameplay styles and each giving them their own individual twists.
That’s not all though, the full list of content is as follows, and I really hope that this week there is something to please everyone.
Also I’ll be testing the water next week with posting the store update content list on Wednesday – a full day before the store updates. I know you all want to see what’s coming onto the store in advance, and the reason we’ve not done this before is that content can still change on the day of a publish. This is not to say it still won’t happen, there will be times when content may well change even after I’ll have posted the content list, but when this does happen I will update the list and be as transparent as possible about why content has not made the update. As this will be a test, if it proves problematic, I may revert to posting again only once the store has actually updated, but for now we’ll see how it goes.
Anyway, as usual leave your comments below and have a good week all!

Good update this week, especially with the release of the KZ2 DLC.
Though I’ve got to ask, when will we be seeing the re-release of Spyro 2 on the EU Store? Any word would be greatly appreciated.

How about a discounted price for dlc3 for us loyalists who paid full whack for the 1st 2 dlc?
I am NOT going to buy the 3th pack full price. This is a kick in the face!

I will just say i’m disappointed at the lack of PS1 games being added. Now I know you’re trying your hardest to get MGS1 and RE: DC and I appreciate that, but you could at least get some Sony published games up there. For example, you could finish collections and get up Sython Filter 2, Crash 2 (legal issues [DELETED]? 1, 3 and CTR are there), MediEvil 2, WipEout 2097, I could mention lots of others too.

Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 4:34 pm by Paragon3435
Truly awesome update.
I’ve been waiting for a map pack bundle before getting Killzone 2 and the WipEout Fury expansion is a must have.
Shatter and Crystal Defenders was a nice surprise, for me at least – I get rather impatient so I avoid reading about new games till they’re out.
Thanks SCEE.

Great update, I haven’t posted last week because well for one I had my exams, and for two there was nothing very interesting.
Today’s update has 3 pieces of content I really like: Shatter, Killzone maps and Wipeout Fury. However I’m not going to get any of them, because I’m still deep in Prototype. Probably get them after summer… along with FAT PRINCESS

This is my first post on this blog. I just wanted to congratulate Mike and the SCEE team for delivering a nice update and for maintaining a civil tone in the face of constant grief. There have been better and worse weeks, but things seem to be coming along — keep it up!
@ all the griefers out there who post the same complaints every week: Enough already! Trine/MGS/RE/your-favourite-game will be released when it’s released. The blog.eu crew will give you news when they can — I doubt they’re keeping quiet about something just to have a laugh.
@24: Actually, the KZ2 bundle is being sold in the US as a 3-for-2 deal, which is basically the same deal we’re getting.
@ general $-to-€ complaints: There’s absolutely no reason we should be charged a converted dollar price, so quit looking for a cheap deal. Floating currencies are supposed to be linked to the economic situation in a currency zone, which means we should end up paying the same amount relative to our earnings/standard-of-living. If the dollar was stronger than the euro, nobody would be willing to pay the same price as the US.

Thanks for the great update Mike!
Hope we get MGS1 soon!
BTW (By the way) next week, can you guys put up a pack for KZ2 that allows us to buy Flash and Thunder and Napalm and Cordite KZ2 map packs together cause I already bought Steel and Titanium.
Thanks Mike,

Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 4:47 pm by ashstampede
I am not mad that there is a bundle of KZ2 maps. I bought the first two knowing this was a possibility. What I am disgusted by is that the bundle is all 3 maps for the price of 2 release so soon. on the day of the 3rd new map being released. This is a hard lesson learned but thank you I will never buy dlc until it is bundle or on a sale or better free. If there was to be a bundle it should have come at the end of summer, so those prepared to buy them on release in advance would have the benefit of knowing the maps better than the late to the party guys. I think the real low ball still is how soon a bundle came out and the fact that the bundle includes the new maps. The perfect solution would have been a buy 2 get one half off, making the bundle price £11.99 then i dont think anyone would have cared.

I’m glad I bought Shatter. Just had a go now and it’s excellent. It’s just beat Magic Ball to be my favorite Breakout clone since Arkanoid in the 80′s.

Good update
Since i didn’t last week, want to say thanks to Mike for asking and giving us info about Disgaea 3 last week
Good to see you put effort in it, and even better to hear “there are DLCs on the way” even if you can’t give dates atm
Much appreciated
Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 4:57 pm by Mike Kebby
Thanks, here to help. I will always share release dates when I can, but this will not be very often, as dates are tricky things to pin down (also it’s about managing expectations and not promising things when not 100% certain). If I can give estimates however I will try and do this though.

Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 4:56 pm by Apnomis
Great update Mike, and way to drum up hype for it in the opening few paragraphs of your update!
Seems to have done the trick though as the comments seem much more positive this week, apart from the usual MGS questions!
I’m so glad they decided to do a KZ2 bundle, I’ll definitely be picking that up tonight. I think I’ll get Shatter too, I read an excellent interview with the developer by Dominique Louis (;)) over at 1UpGamers which made me want to buy it!
I do think you should put a little ‘P.S.’ at the bottom of the updates though to say where the likes of MGS and RE are up to and why they weren’t included, just to save you repeating yourself every week. I also think people that don’t read your replies should be banned from commenting!!!
Good look with the Wednesday blog update – you must be a sucker for punishment
P.S. I bet you’re looking forward to the Gamescom Press Conference on the 18th August, I’ve got a sneaky feeling some of the answers you’re not allowed to give about things like the Video Store will be revealed then… am I wrong?
Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 5:01 pm by Mike Kebby
I am slightly scared about next week to be honest, but it’s all about looking into the eye of the beast right? Not that you are all beasts…okay, that perhaps didn’t come across right
In all seriousness though, I’d like to be even earlier with content lists ideally, but one day in advance is the most I can accomodate at the moment.
My lips remained sealed Apnomis about what might or might not be said at Gamescom (mainly because I don’t know myself)

Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 4:56 pm by Halba
Let’s see Crystal Defenders ~10 euros, Shatter 5,99 euros and Wipeout HD Fury pack ~10euros.
~26 euros, phew! Thanks for the slow weeks, now I can spend like an millionare!
Absolutely best update in ages, although I’m little disappointed at the PSP content, but hey! 3 PSN games, 3!
Awesome job SCEE, awesome job!

@kingofscotland and @mike kebby and @nofi
We’ll keep ours up over at PlayStation LifeStyle. More specifically, Sev will keep it up. It wore me out managing those lists. We generally put ours up a day or two in advance.
Speculation IS a hard thing to manage. We don’t update the rumored content threads after the content’s out – so you can see just how wrong we are each week haha
Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 5:06 pm by Mike Kebby
I’ll keep an eye out to see how you’re doing with the speculation

Will videos from ComicCon be included in next week’s update? Hopefully we’ll see some interviews here at least.
But time to try Crystal Defenders Demo now.

Better update, but considering the last 2/3 updates were DIRE it’s still mediocre. Killzone DLC is great, but as a previous post mentioned we’re getting screwed on the price so…..meh. Shatter looks ok, I guess. No classic PS1 games which is [DELETED] since last week it was [DELETED] Tarzan of all things.
Best thing = No LBP DLC!!!!! Have Media Molecule finally filled their oversized coffers, Mike?
I hope this weeks update is a precursor for a right belter of an update!

good update mike , konami are ignorant been mailing 4 ever they reply seldom with ‘ no info’ so good luck , mike my mate got rag doll kung foo free on u.s store ,i paid !!!! japan has a free game too no fair we dont get free stuff , why mike i had to pay whilst others get it free , give us freebies !! also clear this up for me , can i make & use a u.s account without getting in bother also if i buy from store with psn cards will they work or are they locked ta mike ps PINK FLOYD ON VIDZONE PLEEEEAAASSEE!!!!
Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 5:15 pm by Mike Kebby
I’m sorry about that, we really are trying to get information regarding MGS.
Just to confirm regarding the offer of Rag Doll Kung Fu for free in the US store, it was a joint promotion with Sprint (a US mobile provider) and Nascar, so it was not pertinent for the SCEE stores.
I also can’t pass comment (or condone) about getting content from the US store – but I’m sure there is information on these matters elsewhere on the ‘net.

First, good update! Tnx
But I have a few questions/complaints.
1. I love movies and live in Sweden. Why can’t I purchase movies from the US/EU PSN yet?
2. The PSX(one) catalogue is simply terrible. Why aren’t there more games? Will “In cold blood” be added? The thing is that PSOne games are getting harder and harder to find legally.
3. Why cant there be a united PSN store for US/EU? (the currency shouldn’t be a problem with an online store 2009)
Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 5:18 pm by Mike Kebby
Hey Knorad, to answer your questions:
- There is no EU Video Store and the US Video Store is locked to users in that region, so at the moment nobody from the SCEE region can access movie content I’m afraid.
- There will be more and more PSOne games added to the store, but we can’t dictate which games 3rd party publishers submit to us, so we have to wait and see what the publishers want to give us.
- I can’t really go into specifics regarding why there is no united PSN store I’m afraid.

Great work this week Sony, and Mike for replying to so many comments!
Downloading Fury, Shatter and Crystal Defenders – $40AUS worth! Ugh, so many games, please stop.. my wallet can’t handle it.
I’ve got a feeling we’ll get a couple of big announcements at Gamescon – including a LBP Portable announcement (we know it’s coming, it hasnt been confirmed yet has it?) and hopefully as others have said, a video store announcement. And perhaps some more on MAG?
Anyway, nice work. Time to play some games before I head to bed!

Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 5:24 pm by Icarus_Immortal
Damn, WipEout HD Fury, Killzone 2 Bundle Pack and Shatter! What a fantastic update!!
And Mike, two things:
1. Get a hold of any from MTV Games/EA, to ask why they aren’t releasing Rock Band: Unplugged on PSS? I want that game with my new PSP Go (which doesn’t take UMDs, incidentally).
2. Try to get someone from the developer of Castle Crasher on the blog, since they announced CC for PS3!
Always appreciate what you are doing and all the hits you manage to withstand from eager Playstationfans.

IF the whole putting the list up on a wednesday thing could still be an issue due to the content being changed on the day of publish, might it not be easier to just post up the list on a thursday still but just around midday, rather than waiting for the store to update around 4-6?
Good update though, I’m mighty tempted by the map pack bundle…..
Posted on 23 July, 2009 at 5:33 pm by Mike Kebby
It’s more about trying to let people know before the update is due what is coming, then it doesn’t feel like so much of a lottery for you all – hopefully it may also help to manage the community’s expectations of what’s coming to the store.
As we can never guarantee a specific time to publish the store on a Thursday, it made sense to me to try and get the list on the blog a day before instead of earlier on a Thursday.
