Hey All!
It has been a exciting week at Guerrilla Games with the release of the third DLC map pack “Napalm & Cordite”, the release of patch 1.29, the latest update to www.killzone.com, the announcement of the “Map Pack Bundle” and the opening of “Our World” an art exhibition here in the Netherlands based around the visually creative process of making the Killzone 2 universe and those that inhabit it.
So to celebrate all this we have decided to give back to the folks who have supported us through thick and thin since the release of Killzone 2: You. The most attractive and charismatic fans any video-game can have. (Yes, flattery won’t get me anywhere) And what better way to thank ones loyal fans than with POINTS!
This weekend from Friday at 17:30 GMT till Monday morning at 09:00, any games created will give extra XP points to let you guys rank up quicker and unlock those Badges and climb up the Leaderboard.
That way you get more bang for your buck, more meat on your sandwich, more points for your prizes, more sauce on your fries, more … okay I think you get it.
A Win will earn you a 2.5 multiplier and a Loss will still grant you the normal multiplier for a Win: 1.5. This applies only to individual points, not Clan Valor and will be available in all regions during this time.
We hope all those coming new to Killzone 2 and the veterans alike will take part in this celebration and make sure to keep an eye out for people with [GG] in front of their handles. We’ll be rocking the new DLC this weekend too.

No!!! I’m out of town for the weekend. I was just gonna get back into KZ2 after a couple months hiatus… this would have been the perfect opportunity to do so!!! I’ll try to do some catch up on sunday evening if I can.

Sick – I am gonna play quite a bit then.
I am not sure if I can post here, but man I seriously find it hard to get used to the controls, it just really hard to aim – I have had the game since launch.

Nice, already earn’t a good 750-1000 points which is uhhh… More than I’ve earn’t over the past month
. Gives me a reason to play public games for a weekend, although clan wars are still superior.
The losing side doesn’t get the 1.5x bonus either. The winning side still gets the 2.5x bonus though. Thankfully I’ve been partying up with some clan allies

Yup, no sign of the 1.5 multiplier for the losing team…any chance of a fix for this before the end of the weekend?

XP in KZ2 is an unnecessary afterthought, just like in all other FPSs with XP. It’s just a means to force people play numerous hours to unlock weapons which are unlocked in other games from the start.
As much as I would like to like this gorgeous game, I haven’t played since unlocking sniper. This means that KZ2 is not compelling and enjoyable enough without artificially forcing players to clock more hours with XP unlocking.
I appreciate there are players who get enjoyment out of unlockables. Anyone who has read Bartle’s character types knows that Achievers are just a portion of gamers, thus such XP systems force the majority of players endure an unattractive feature. My character type is Killer, so I’d like to just jump in and start fragging with the weapons I like the most.
I hope MAG and other future FPSs get this, and don’t use XP just as a way to force players to play.

Just played a match where we (our squad) lost….no 1,5 multiplier whatsoever….duh?!

I played several matches since yesterday. First few had 1.5 multiplier when we lost, but then sth went wrong with the connection from the server side (i had problems with reconnectng for several minutes), and since then 1.5x is no more.
Though the 2.5x when on the winning side works.

I bought “Steel and Titanium” and “Flash and Thunder”, now there’s a three-pack that includes all three packs for the price of 2. I f’cking refuse to buy Napalm and Cordite now, I should at least have the opportunity to buy it for a small fee since I bought the 2 other packs day 1. If I’m being punished for buying them day 1, then I’m gonna punish you by not buying the Napalm and Cordite pack.

@EmpireNO: how is that different from me getting Mirror’s Edge and Assassin’s Creed for 40 EUR total at a sale a weeks back? If you buy a game on release day, you’ll have to pay full price. If you’re patient and wait a few months, you will find the same game for cheaper. I don’t see a reason why this should be any different for add-on packs.

I played KZ2 at the weekend for the first time in a month and absolutely loved it. Got the new maps and I am really enjoying them, this really is a cracking game.
Thanks

@TehPhilosopher
It’s not the same, if I pay full price 1st day then I’m playing it from day 1. People who want it cheaper can wait a couple of months. I have no problem with buying a game full price day 1.
Guess I just don’t like the way it’s done with the expansions, so I just don’t buy the last one. Easy as that.

Typically, my Blu Ray drive went kaput this weekend – would have loved to have levelled up a bit over the weekend!
