The Funny thing is that in Sweden its going to be cheeper than €14.99/£11.99 when you look at other releases in that price, it’s going to be like 140 SEK (Swedish kronor) and thats €13.192/£11374 and $18,658…

Basically what everyone’s saying is… REDUCE THE PRICE!

if everyone here comments on the us blog there’s more chance we’ll be heard they said they read the usblog.

@53
I don’t think so, as someone said before, pretty much all negative comments are ignored and go unreplied and anyway what can they really say, “sorry we just jacked it up for no reason, it’s just to make even more money”, i mean they can’t say it was due to inflation/tax etc as they would be proven wrong instantly. Also the US blog post has nearly 300 replies so far and only 1 official one, it’s not like they are answering people.

As all above i will NOT be buying this at £11.99. I bought bf1943 at £9.99 us $14.99. A fair price. This is not a fair price, therefore NO SALE!

yeah.. I’m sort of shocked at the wrong currency conversion here.. i mean some companies get away with boxed products (like rock band) saying it costs more to ship it here but for a digital download it should be straight conversion across the board…..
I think the £ customers should get a little confirmation on why the pricing is set like this.

You people have to account for the taxes when making these comparisons. In pal regions sales taxes (15% UK and 20% most of continental europe) are included in the list price whereas list prices in north america do not include the sales taxes (the taxes are added on in the checkout).
Uk 11.99 pounds
Euroland 14.99 euros
US 14.99 dollars
To make a comparison one must first subtract the taxes from the european list prices
Uk 11.99 pounds – 15% = approx 10.20 pounds
Euroland 14.99 euros – 20% = approx 12 euros
US 14.99 ………………. = approx 14.99 dollars
14.99 us dollars to british pounds = 9.12 pounds (- approx 1 pound)
14.99 us dollars to euroland euros = 10.58 euro (- approx 1.5 euros)
The remaining small extra costs can easily be eaten up by having to provide support in multiple languages, legal affairs in many tiny markets, currency contracts (most companies dealing in large amounts of currencies wherein they would exchange say for example the euro with the dollar at a fixed rate for say a month whether the actual value is above or below), etc.

Stop ignoring us Gavin Russell. The whole point of this blog is for the fans to talk with those who make their games, for DIALOGUE. If you’re going to ignore us then just close this blog and just post it on a site without a commenting feature.

@freakzilla149
I apologised for the delay in getting back to you today. I was not ignoring you, as I’m sure you can understand, my responsibilities do not stop with the release of Fat Princess.
How may I help you?

Plus some stuff you get cheaper than in the us
motorstorm pacific rift adrenaline dlc:
Uk 4.79 pounds
Euroland 5.99 euros
US 9.99 dollars
Uk 4.79 pounds – 15% = approx 4.07 pounds
Euroland 5.99 euros – 20% = approx 4.80 euros
US 9.99 ………………. = approx 9.99 dollars
9.99 us dollars to british pounds = 6.07 pounds (+ approx 2 pound)
9.99 us dollars to euroland euros = 7.05 euros (+ approx 2.25 euros)
You also get your fair share of exclusive content.
The following is a sample of the games (not all of them)that are available in europe but not in north america.
Dark mist, Topatoi: Spinning Through The Worlds, and OutRun Online Arcade.
So overall Quit your whining.

Doesn’t explain how Battlefield 1943 was more equally priced.

ohh and it should be 9.99 uk
63
Posted on 28 July, 2009 at 9:14 pm by Ziggy-Moff
@57
You have it wrong, you take the US price and convert it and then put on the tax, for example the US $14.99 to UK conversion is around £9.12, then put on the UK 15% tax and it works out to around £10.50, that means there is another £1.50 for no reason at all (and as already said, if BF1943 can be converted properly then so can this).
@59
You can’t really be saying we should put up with it because we get a fair share of exclusive content from other games can you?, we have every reason to complain, the game is overpriced compaired to other regions of the world, this isn’t a whine, it’s a fact.
Also, the US store is vastly better than the EU/UK store for content.

It is great to see the game is finally here but i’m sick of being treated like a second class citizen by Sony.
The community has been begging for a release date for the last two or three months only to be fobbed off and you announce it two days before the game is released? Not good enough.

haha more than £10 for this???
Sony Europe, better ask Sony America for some cash or your princess is going to go hungry

“Stop whining about the price! The EU is the biggest market for us SONY so we kick you in the face whenever we want,” is what sony is probably thinking…
Thanks Sony for not caring…

I´m agree with almost al comments, it´s always the same thing with the currency problem, and of course always overpriced for Europe.
What´s the deal? We are fed up about this.

59 believes we shouldn’t whine when a highly anticipated game is over-priced. The games you mentioned were hardly as anticipated as Fat Princess is. Not only that, but you fail to account the extra content that the US store gets for a reasonable price, as well as failing to take into account the games that they get cheaper too. And why shouldn’t we whine? A game on PSN that has been hotly anticipated, and Sony are charging us. Lest you forget, Good Sir, a lot of us spent over £300 (No idea how many Euros, but you can bet your bottom penny that it was sure a damn lot) for this games console, and all we ask for is not to be treated like second hand citizins.
I actually some crooked conwork coming out in Sony: Get the masses on their feet, then bring them to their knees.
FACT: Many people want this
FACT: Many people will pay for it
FACT: Our whining will go unnoticed as the brunt of the fee goes to pay for a big ol’ dinner at SCEE
But..those are the breaks. Our complaints go un-noticed, SCEE continue to turn a deaf ear to their so-called “valued” consumers. Que Sera Sera.

@ wittlebigpwanet – To be honest, that made no sense at all, I get where you want to go, but it doesen’t quite work like that, each euopean country has it’s own regulations and tax-rules, some countries even have different tax-regulations depending on what product we are talking about.
For this game, I had decided to buy it after doing the beta, but now it has been put on a hold, it will proberly be over 100 DKR and to be honest, it’s not worth that, so I will wait until it goes on sale.
The prices here in Europe are mostly higher without any good reason.

I’m afraid this price is going to stick for a very long time, it’s unfair to pay more for games but i’m afraid we have to put up with this, it’s like the increase in price for modern warfare 2, i’m not buying this game anyway, waiting for something else i.e. bomberman or pixeljunk shooter

Definitely agree that £12 seems a bit much for a PSN title.
£9.99 would have sat much prettier with everyone all round.
I really can’t see them adjusting the pricing now though, which is a shame because I think it’ll hurt the sales for this and I wanted it to do well.
77
Posted on 28 July, 2009 at 11:10 pm by mrmrc
And to be honest I actually expected it to be about £6-8 pounds.

C’mon people. Stop complaining about the price. We’re finally getting one of the most anticipated games for the PSN ever. The game will be great from everything I’ve see and heard. Definetly worth every cent.

Anything more then £8 is just serious, guys lower it cos your going to kill the game.
I know the pound taken a beating but still
I wont be picking this up. Can i ask for somebody from SCEE to explain the pricing ?
Or
Is that to much to ask

If it were 7.99/9.99GBP, I’d be refreshing the store every minute on Thursday in anticipation of buying it. 11.99 you say? No, ta. What’s the extra 2 quid charge for? Legal issues, as is SCEE’s excuse for almost everything?
Lower the price and more people would be likely to partake in an impulse buy.

Wipeout HD .. a game with a fully fledged single player, multiplayer (both online and offline) costs the same as a game which is online only.

Come on Gavin Russel, Give us an answer,
On why your charging us £2 more for the game in the EU.
Reduce the price to £9.99 SIMPLE..

What’s with the lack of replies from Gavin Russell… Hmm?
Come on, we want to know why the price has been bumped up by £2 when BF1943, also released in the US at $14.99 was in the UK for £9.99.
Interest rates can’t have changed that much in two weeks guys…

Sorry no buy, this is blatant over-pricing as it’s been hyped and delayed for so long.
Sorry Sony you lost my money on this one.

I dare you to reply Gavin Russell!!! Is customer satisfaction not part of your job? Here on THE blog are the core-fans of Playstation… asking you to explain.. hoe can you ignore?

@85
“If you dont want it dont buy it”
If people didn’t want it why would they be upset that the price is so much higher than in other places? Then again this is the fanboys response to any valid complaint.
If all PSN users took your attitude Sony would be charging £24.99 for every single PSN games and you’d pull your wallet out every time they did.
Some people like to voice their complaints in the hope things will change, others just take it silently.

Some people are talking about BF1943, but it´s 14,99$/14,99€ so, the euro gets the worst part once more.
I didn´t complain when BF1943 was released because i don´t care about this game, but now, Fat Princess is a game i was following and i´m interested in.
9,99£/11,99€ is the way Sony, now it´s up to you.

Where’s Mike kebby(SCEE) when you need him?
He usually reply’s to comments on here.
We need an “Official” reply about this, It’s disgraceful charging us more ££!

£9.99 is the most I am going to pay for a PSN game.
It would have to be something really special to get me to spend more and in all honesty I don’t see where this Fat Princess thing is going to be so good. I would’ve bought it but at £12 it’s a no go.
Yes, we understand that in these difficult times the costs of producing games etc. have risen but you must understand that we the consumers are also going through the same thing.
£2 might not seem like much but it all adds up in the end and Sony are ripping their customers off.
As for taxes etc. the US doesn’t tax digital downloads.

I care less about the price, I’m buying it the minute it comes out,
From the EU shop
I know why it cost more here!!!
Cause the EU’s Cake is made in french with more puffy cream
Yummy

This article has settled the order of my future PSN purchases:
1) Crystal Defenders
2) Wipeout Fury Expansion
<—– Any other game that grabs my attention
3) Fat Princess
Shame that. Was looking forward to this game as well. Have to wait for the winter sale.

Posted on 29 July, 2009 at 2:46 am by gmli
Ok, US hasn’t tax, and the price is $14.99.
$14.99 = 10.57€
In France we have 19.6% of tax, so :
10.57*19.6/100 = 2.07
10.57+2.07=12.64
14.99€-12.64€ = 2.35
So, INCLUDING taxes, we pay 2.35€ more than US.

Posted on 29 July, 2009 at 3:04 am by Mok_ojin
Sorry this is 1.99 to much. I would get this at 9.99 but not 11.99. I have to get 15 to get this otherwise. An I want to get shatter to.
Drop it to 9.99 no problem I’l pick it up.
But 12′s going into the range of there is other games in that price range I want first.

Are you freaking kidding me? 15 dollars does not equal 15 euros! As has already been pointed out, 11 euros would be the right amount to pay, instead of the 21 dollars the 15 euros equate to.
I was very much looking forward to this game, but I will not allow you to rip me off.
