Hello all. After our experiment to go out early last week, we’ve decided to revert back to providing the store updates on the blog on a Thursday, to ensure you have the most accurate information possible. However, we will make sure that the content updates are provided nice and early on a Thursday morning so that you still have quite a bit of warning as to what will be available later in the day. I think this is a good middle ground between the test from last week, and when we used to publish the content updates after the store was updated, so I hope you’ll still feel this is an improvement on how we used to do it.
I apologise that the Wednesday test was so short-lived, but it turns out that it was more difficult than I’d first anticipated for our teams to confirm completely accurate content that much in advance.
Okay, so onto the content this week, we have another mixed bag available for you, from the quiz game TV Show King, to the demo version of Batman: Arkham Asylum, via a trial for Rag Doll Kung-Fu to the third map pack for the ever popular Call of Duty: World at War.
The Waldgeist expansion pack for Savage Moon has also arrived, as well as additional content for LittleBigPlanet, and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. That’s not all though, for a complete list scroll down for more!

Do you know anything about the 3 hour conference at GamesCom?
Will it be 3 hours of E3 type conference or 2 hours food and drink meeting and an 1 hour conference?

Hey Mike i’ve asked a few times and no reply from you but any chance of asking namco if there are any plans on placing Tales of Eternia on the store please
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:04 am by Mike Kebby
I haven’t seen any news on that title, but let me see what I can sniff out.

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:04 am by FallingStickman
Mike, a question in a more reasonable tone from me for a change.
I’m wondering – you say that it’s up to the publishers to submit PSOne classics, and Sony itself doesn’t really have anything to say about it, and all you can do is ask questions when/if a given title will be released.
Doesn’t Sony get any money from the sales of PSOne classics? Because it certainly seems like it. Otherwise wouldn’t SCEE be more keen to urge the above mentioned publishers to release certain titles? Considering how well FFVII is doing I would imagine that it wouldn’t bring any financial losses, and I’m sure releasing some decent titles like MGS or Resident Evil would mean a lot more cash than some obscure pinball or James Pond (I know you like that game… but seriously).
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:10 am by Mike Kebby
It’s a fair point FallingStickman, and whilst we can enquire about titles and even perhaps recommend releasing them, we cannot force publishers to give us content, but when we want content we do try and urge them to give us the good stuff

I love the way some people decide that, if there’s nothing that interests them, then its a bad/boring/garbage/etc update. I want, I want, I want mentality of spoilt children.
Granted I feel that there’s nothing here for me, but I can respect that this is a decent update. The whining on these threads is getting unreal.
On a seperate note Mike, do you have any news on the Crash Commando DLC? Been a couple of months since we heard anything. Thanks in advance.
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:12 am by Mike Kebby
Regarding Crash Commando all I can say is to keep your eyes peeled and I’m sure some interesting news will pop up

Mike,
You should urge them harder… kidnap their dogs, burn their mailboxes, urinate on their front lawns… anything that would let them know that you are serious
Otherwise the gamers will need to do all the things I’ve mentioned and that could be messy

I’ve done all that though, I’m not sure how much further to go

I understand that Mike. But you have input within the SCEE team that us fans do not, You’re the most approachable rep across both PS Blogs, and have the best understanding of what we want.
As such, We rely on you to put our ideas across to SCEE, we’re all appreciative of the input and output we get from you, but it’s frustrating to go seemingly ignored, not just throughout the lifespan of the Playstation 3, but through out the PS2 and PS1. We weren’t happy being third fiddle during the PS1 era, or PS2 era. We thought seeing the PS3 be region free would finally equal equality for us European users, but we’re annoyed that the problem is only seeming to get worse, not better.
For every commenter like me who want’s to get his point across, there are plenty of people who have the same feelings but don’t know how to put it into words, and there’s 100 people who blindly ignore the problem give praise where it isn’t required.
In Summary, We’re not getting frustrated at you Mike, but you’re the only source of input we have, For every commenter like me who want’s to get his point across, there are plenty of people who have the same feelings but don’t know how to put it into words.
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:19 am by Mike Kebby
I sincerely ‘heart’ this comment Aurain, I fully understand the frustartion you feel – but it’s not like the teams here at SCEE don’t want to give you all everything you want, but I can also appreciate that at times it’s hard for you all to not think that.
We’re constantly striving for improvement, and everybody at SCEE wants to ensure we have a happy community and fanbase.

Just a few questions Mike, is Zombie Apocalyse still comming out? It was ment to come out in June but no word has being heard of it since. VGreleases has it dated for the 20th (2 weeks time) is this correct?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, is that comming out next week? I heard its set for the 13th.
Final question the new Vandal Hearts game (not the PS1 version) whens that comming out?

Hi Mike,
Is there any news on the last 2 pieces of Sonic Unleashed DLC coming to the store? They’ve been on the US store and XBLA for quite some time now but we’ve still only got the first four on the UK store.

Hi Mike,
I bought Fat Princess last week and was shocked to find out that it didn’t support Home game launching. :O!
Have you any idea whether Sony will actually be encouraging the inclusion of this from launch?
Just a thought

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:18 am by Ragnarok-NZ
I have an interesting question Mike, that I can’t seem to find the answer for anywhere else.
Since Dissidia Final Fantasy got a demo on PSN for the US last week, and we are bound to get the demo soon on our side, does that indicate the Dissidia might see a full release on PSN? Given the fact that there’s barely two months until we see the PSP Go in stores, dontcha think a AAA title like Dissidia should be released on PSN?
Also, Is there any news of Turtles in Time for PSN?

Hi Mike!
On what time Store update will be avaiable?
It will be great to have update on the same time every week.
Sorry for my english, I hope you understand everything.
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:20 am by Mike Kebby
Wish we could stick to a specific time every week, but it’s not possible I’m afraid. As a general rule though we’re usually updated by 6pm at the latest.

Why is the Guitar Hero DLC not on the South African PS Store?

It’s not been submitted for release in South Africa I’m afraid, although I’m not sure of the reason why.

No, sorry. Thursday is our store day
78
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:23 am by Pahlan
glad the demo for Batman is there. I was a bit afraid it wouldn’t show up due to it being anounced for Friday.
Good news. As for the content of the update, even if there’s nothing I’ll buy, I still have plenty of games, and quite honestly I have been buying more games than what I’m able to play. So no problem with me.
I don’t know how guys find the time to play all the games (WipEout, Fat Princess, LittleBigPlanet, Battlefield, etc). I’ve played them long hours, but my friends and me certainly don’t feel like we’re done with them. No shortage of great games on our end.
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:24 am by Mike Kebby
It does amaze me how much time people can devote to gaming, but if I had more hours in the day I know what I would be doing with them
79
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:23 am by Ragnarok-NZ
So i take it you have no answers to my questions Mike?
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:27 am by Mike Kebby
Sorry, nothing at this point. Generally if I don’t answer your questions it’s because I don’t have the answers, and I don’t want to respond to every question I don’t have answers to with ‘don’t know, let me find out’ as that’s gets a bit tedious for everyone.
If I don’t respond to a comment it usually means I have nothing to say, or can say, not because I’m being ignorant. Also, as much as I try I can’t respond to every single comment (would be cool if I could though).

Mike, thanks for the info.
It is a good update but i need Trine.
Do you know the release date?
84
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:26 am by dnadns
Hi Mike,
how about setting up a nice little “request a title” page where all users can vote for their titles to be brought to the PSN.
It wouldn’t be meant as a guarantee that those will actually make it to the store, but it might be interesting for you to have some data on the topic and be able to use it to convince 3rd parties to submit their content.
Shouldn’t be too hard to come up with something like that, just put on the catalog file, bring up a simple poll-like interface and have all registered accounts vote on them (only 1 vote per game, of course).
Also hope that you are at GamesCom so that I may annoy you with revolutionary ideas how to progress the store and give you my congrats in person for staying so ever-patient with us
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:28 am by Mike Kebby
Wish I was going to Gamescom but I won’t be there, maybe next year though
I’d love to hear everyone’s ideas for the store in person though, maybe one day.

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:27 am by Espiox
Never mind MGS. Why, some three years into the console’s life do we not have Spyro 1, 2 and 3? Or Crash 2*? If you can’t even get THOSE games out, how do you expect anyone to take that service seriously?
* Yeah, I know, legal issues. Still, I’m going to keep bugging you about this until you put it up.

Well thanks for letting me know Mike. heh.
I kinda got the hint that you diddnt have any info when I didnt get the response – but thank you for responding anyway!
Anyhoo, while i do admit I liked having the update info a day ahead of the actual store update, this feature isnt bad at all. Atleast it’s information before the update is live. Thanks again for dealing with all of our craziness.
Oh and Imma gonna get me some Batman goodness tonight!

No idea what everyone is complaining about – this looks like a pretty good store update to me.
One question though Mike – the Batman demo was announced a few days ago and it was said that it would be released on Friday. Obviously the store update happens on Thursday, so does this mean we’ll get the Batman demo a day early, or will it be coming tommorrow?
Thanks for the early updates too!

It confused me when I read those reports online yesterday too, but we’re updating the store today and the demo will be part of that

how comes fight night round 4 xbox 360 update has sugar ray leonard olympic version and we don’t? would be nice to have the same instead of being left behind again. It’s just anoying how xbox users get a better update then us. I know it’s not your fault but surely there should be a valid reason? I always seem to have an argument with friends when they say the xbox 360 is better, but i dont know how long it will be until i give up defending the ps3 or even switch for better updates……

What problems are you having, I have played loads of games and am not aware of any issues. I’m not saying I don’t believe, I just want to understand what the problems are.
If you have problems with games or the service then you will need to speak to the consumer services team.

98
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:44 am by dazexus
Guys please stop complaining about store updates. You are getting a service for free, you dont have to subscribe and you dont have to go out your way to access the content.
Think of it this way, before this generation of console, if you wanted a demo, trailers or extra content you had to go spend £5 on a magazine, only then could you see if there was anything worthy or not.
Sony doesn’t owe you a dam thing, which most of you seem to be preaching. The only thing I can understand in the frustration is not receiving content made available in other territories, even then you will probably get it eventually, so just have patience.
@Mike Kebby: Thanks for the early heads up, and for the constant support.
