Hello all. After our experiment to go out early last week, we’ve decided to revert back to providing the store updates on the blog on a Thursday, to ensure you have the most accurate information possible. However, we will make sure that the content updates are provided nice and early on a Thursday morning so that you still have quite a bit of warning as to what will be available later in the day. I think this is a good middle ground between the test from last week, and when we used to publish the content updates after the store was updated, so I hope you’ll still feel this is an improvement on how we used to do it.
I apologise that the Wednesday test was so short-lived, but it turns out that it was more difficult than I’d first anticipated for our teams to confirm completely accurate content that much in advance.
Okay, so onto the content this week, we have another mixed bag available for you, from the quiz game TV Show King, to the demo version of Batman: Arkham Asylum, via a trial for Rag Doll Kung-Fu to the third map pack for the ever popular Call of Duty: World at War.

I just got an idea… How about Countering all of this with a website where people can vote on which psx games we want sony to bug the publishers to let them release

Thanks for your answer ,
The voice on the game does not work and the squads dont work ?
For an online game @ £9.99 thats the main part of the game .
Have you played it ?
You advertised it .
Would you like to waste £9.99 on something thats not working as discribed ?
Why do we have forums , dont anyone @ SCE read the complaints ?
Seriously this game needs fixed on ps3 , im not alone with these issues thats for sure dude.
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:09 pm by Mike Kebby
I’ve played it loads (I have all the trophies bat the 100 games one, and am rank 22) so yes I’ve sunk a LOT of time into this game, and have not encountered any problems at all.
Of course I wouldn’t want to feel like I’ve wasted money on something I felt didn’t work, but from what I’ve experience it plays fine – but again I reiterate I’m not saying I don’t believe you.
Contact consumer services and they should be able to help you

ooo, Dissidia theme.
I have a PSP arriving soonish, so that theme is certainly relevant to my internets.
Is there a screenshot of it anywhere?

It’s an ok update this week. I’m gone try the batman demo.

Hey Mike, what’s up mate?
Batman demo seems to be the only worthwhile download.
I haven’t really liked most of the recent updates.
Most things on the Aus PS store is severely overpriced so I avoid buying things like Fat Princess, which is $24 by the way.
Let’s pray we see Metal Gear Solid VERY soon. I’ve been hanging out for it for two months now. It’s killing me that it’s taking so long
.

There you go @107
Another expensive game that dont work online.
Whats going on with the releases in the EU ?
Wee need servers that work.
I for one will not buy until there is answers and fixes , its a disgrace that the games are not working as discribed.
Mike your taking our comments and you answer some of them , whats up wi the online part of the games in the EU that dont work !

People moan when there’s no good demos. then Batman arrives and people still moan.
you need to drop the prices of a few of the older games as the people who moan that there is nothing on the store cannot have downloaded everything already.
Its just trolling pure & simple.
I’m happy to wait for MGS & RE etc. just as long as they are coming.
p.s. shatter rules. you need to push that game far more ( 8/10 eurogamer)

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:54 am by SmoggyPhil
Extreme Pinball? Oh, brother…When will Konami decide to give the EU and Australasia MGS, Silent Hill etc; I’m pretty damn close to firing up my PS2 and buying MGS off eBay. Why is it PSone games can only be submitted to certain regions? Is it due to copyright laws and stuff? (I have no idea how these things work so…meh.)
Apart from that, at least we have a good demo in Batman, and a RDKF Trial which i’ll check out.
And another LBP Costume…makes you wonder how people can “boycott EA” for some of their practices and happily pay near £2 for a bloody costume
But thats MM and not Sony, so kinda off topic :p
Finally: Thursday morning preview FTW.

Where are you going to imporve the EU PSN anyways? It’s unacceptable that there is one PS3 Games section with all stuff in one beg. I’d like to easily find PSN only games in one sections, demos in another etc. Why it’s so hard when US PSN already has it? Is it to hard to simply learn from better? I don’t see any excuse for not having this. And if you PSN guy and girls have periodical meeting to discuss PSN don’t it requires improvement it means that you simply don’t use PSN except “for work”. What a shame.

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:58 am by TheTaxMan
People would not moan if the games worked as discribed .
The games that are big Hitters like bf1943 , Fat princess ect
dont work properly. So its all bad advertising .
Mike your doing your job m8 but as the weeks go on and the games are not playable as discribed then god help the blog, people will not spend cash on broken items dude.

Mike, you are FTW!
Cheers for the early update, can’t wait for the WaW map pack, and the Batman demo.

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 11:59 am by Silent_Gig
So what happened to Silent Hill, did Konami take it back or something?
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:11 pm by Mike Kebby
There was some miscommunication and it was released by accident, there were legal issues with the game and we had to remove it promptly.

Hi Mike,… thanks for the information.- Will there be a BATMAN Demo in the german-store?!
And one more thing: Is it an option for sony to verify the age by taking 1Cent for +18-Demos?

This comment is definately the best ive seen in this blog and his points a valid.

Mike, not being funny but if the US blog can gain info of how much MB a product is then why cant we?! The simpliest things are made so hrd with SCEE. WOW

woooo Batman demo!!!
122
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:07 pm by BiosNova
Hey Mike
Quite a good update but still lacking a lot on the PS1 Classics
Cmon there must be somthing SCEE can do to make more appear on the store!
I’ll be downloading the Batman demo for sure though
Also will we be getting a better organised store soon? Such as a demo section? Take a look at the US store and you will see what i mean!
123
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:09 pm by R_Navarro
Are you a 100% sure that Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo is going to be on the PSN today because alot of sites are saying the Demo is out tomorrow?
124
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:09 pm by Dutch_Rootsman
Dear Mike,
My Mother raised me to be courteous, believe me no sarcasm was intended
At the end of the day, you are our only hope. This sounds epic I know, but we need someone to stand up for Aussie and sometimes Euro PSN users.
Please Mike, save the PAL PSN store from mediocrity.
PS. Believe me, I know where the PSone classics are on the Store. I also know where the crappy emulated PSone games are on the PSN Store (Street Sk8er 1&2? Tarzan?).
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:14 pm by Mike Kebby
Hehe
I was just making the point regarding the PSOne games that all releases are put into the ‘classics’ section, so there is no classic criteria to reach as such, other than being an older game released on PSOne.
125
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:09 pm by O_277
Not a bad update, might give Batman a try I think!
Also next time can you publish every single PS1 game and make it all free, and the ability of flight would be awesome thanks Mike!

Hi Mike!
Personally I don´t mind not knowing in advance what´s on offer in the psn update every week. It´s not a big deal really.
Anyway, you´re doing a great work by communicating so much with us.
Have a nice weekend!

It’s a bad update because there isn’t the demo of IL2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:16 pm by llorllo
@104,
I do have battlefield1943, got all the trophies (which means +100 plays) and I didn’t have any problems. Anyways, if you have problems, you should adress them to EA at their forums (check http://www.battlefield1943.com), not Mike.
Can’t talk about Fat Princess, because don’t bought it, but BF1943 works.

Sup TaxMan. Very good point about faulty products. Im actually on the phone to the Sony Customer Service about my faulty PSP which was brought for me at XMas and the operater (indian call centre) is claiming my warrently has gone out of date?! and because i dont have a receipt because the PSP was brought from a catalogue theres nothing they can do?! FAIL
I find that once Sony has our money.. all responsability is someone elses

Thank you for the early update, Mike, a solid selection this week.
I hate to harp on more about PSone Classics, but Capcom, Konami and other publishers have said there is a ‘legal issue’ that is stopping most PSone Classics being released in the EU. I’ve had word from Capcom that they’re looking into it, but it sounds like this ‘legal issue’ is widespread. Could you bring some light as to what it is?
132
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:22 pm by FBZ1501
Well nothing for me other than the Batman demo.
Mike i read these posts every week, with the same comments of lack f content and where is game x that is out in the US etc.
It must get boring for you having to deal with the same feed back every week.
Microsoft somehow manage to release a demo for every game and also release content globally.
So why can’t Sony achieve this standard level?
As the PS3 is aiming to be the top next gen console the SCE bosses need to understand that Euro is a massive market and deserves equal rights.
It can’t be the publishers fault if these 3rd party games are released globally on the 360?
Will this process every change? There was talk of a global release policy at the start of this year wasn’t there?
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:34 pm by Mike Kebby
Well yes the publishers follow the submission guidelines, so it’s not that any blame lies with them – they have to work with submitting content to each region separately, it’s just sometimes Europe is last to receive content because the submission is made to us last, but that’s not always the case.
Without knowing any specific details on a global submission process I can’t comment, but that would be the dream

Excellent stuff! Can’t wait to play “tonight i’m gonna rock ya” with my custom 3 pick up. Hopefully the airport i live close to won’t cause any interference.
This makes up in some way for them only releasing a region A blu ray of the film

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:34 pm by sowasred2012
I’ve read a lot of comments saying the last couple of months have been crappy for the store, to which I retort;
EH?!
Was Wipeout Fury a crazy fever dream I had?! That alone should be enough to silence any detractors. Plus, I know it’s not a new game, but Super Stardust at that silly low price was a steal. It may also be the reason I have anger management problems now.
135
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:34 pm by FBZ1501
Don’t suppose there is any news on the Dark Mist update and dlc?
I ask every week, i know it isn’t a massively popular game but the update etc fixes the ‘you can’t save your game’ issue. So if i’m ever to play it again and get some value for my money I want to play the updated version and save my game.
Is that too much to ask?

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:34 pm by FallingStickman
By the way Mike, a bit unrelated question… Is there a chance that Broken Sword 1 and 2 are going to be released on PSN? Did anyone mention those games at any point?

Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 12:35 pm by TheTaxMan
Mike i dont want to seem rude BUT ,
1 – THE VOIP DOES NOT WORK IN BF1943 PROPERLY. Fact .
2 – I also have 100% trophys woohoo.
3 – The squads do not stay together . FACT.
4 – People are having game freeze during online play at 27 /30 mins of playing .FACT.
5 – MB (musterbuster) says PSDN doesnt support EA games ? now answer that 1 .
6 – Your saying your game works properly , im not saying your a liar but you can add my psn nickname and try play a round or 2 with me and then we can see for sure , then you will know im not lying and your covering up .
7 – You will never admit there are faults as your here to sell the products , thats fine , but we are the ones getting ripped of here .
cheers for trying to answer but sony CC is a waste of time as well you know .
Posted on 6 August, 2009 at 1:07 pm by Mike Kebby
There’s nothing to cover up from my end, I have not heard of any issues (bar what you have said) and have not experienced any. As I have said, but let me say again as you seemed to skip over it – I am not doubting you, but I am also not covering up anything.

Dear Sony Europe,
You have until I finish Final Fantasy VII to release Suikoden as a PSone Classic in Europe or I will not be happy.
I will also accept the announcement of Suikoden VI to be released on PS3 as an alternative.

Hey Mike,
Where is Bomberman? Is there any info on when we will get this?
You need to understand – it’s one of the few games my girlfriend really likes (from the US demo) – and the more I can get her into some stuff on the PS3 the less hassle I get when I’m playing on it!!! you dig?
What are the implications of me downloading this from the US store? is this possible?
Thanks

surely its cheaper to just buy a psone and the game…..

Actually I’ve been pretty impressed with aome of the stuff from the store lately. Shatter and Wipeout HD Fury are still getting plenty of plays from me a couple weeks after buying them.
From this lot I’ll take the Batman demo and the inFamous LBP costume. The TV quiz thing might be good too when I got friends over.
