Win superpowered prizes in the inFamous comic book competition
Want to win some fantastic inFamous related prizes? Do you have a creative streak you’re just dying to show off to the world? Well PlayStation.com has the perfect thing for you…
The inFamous comic book competition puts you in the shoes of the game’s protagonist, Cole McGrath, and asks you – what type of hero do you want to be? Cole is placed in a deadly moral scenario which only you can solve by using your own artwork and words to create your own conclusion to his comic book story. Your comic will be judged by the development team behind inFamous, Sucker Punch.
Prizes up for grabs include a special edition of inFamous on PLAYSTATION 3, an inFamous artwork book, and signed artwork provided by Sucker Punch, including the chance to see your comic book entry professionally printed and signed by the team.
Visit PlayStation.com for full details and to enter and be sure to read the full terms and conditions before entering.
Get those creative juices flowing and good luck!

Great idea, but my artistic skills suck balls so i won’t be entering

Go on, give it a try – you never know. As they say, “you have to be in it, to win it”

Good luck to those who enter, which I won’t be since I draw like an 8 yr old.

Now, I’ll be entering this if I have time…
I don’t have very good art skills but I’ve been meaning to start entering a lot more of the playstation.com competitions, and this would serve as good practice for my drawing!
The prizes look great too!

This’ll be the first competition I’ve ever entered. I’m a decent artist, and if I win then I know I have what it takes to become a concept artist in a real games company.

Great comp, i’m like the previous comments, unless they wanted a badly drawn stickman entry, no way i could enter

Man, that’s tempting, but I have so many deadlines…

My artistic skills might be good enough, it’s my moral dilemma skills that are lacking. Expect my entry sometime anyway.

Loving these hands on competitions. First MAG, now this. An excellent way to get the community excited and to reward those who really put in the effort. Good job!

Should’ve mentioned this in my last post, but if anyone is after Photoshop style software but don’t want to pay, GIMP might be what you’re after. Just a note, I’m in now way affiliated with the creators of GIMP – they just made some decent software which I think will come in handy for you folks!

Ok i am really interested in this but something about it doesn’t feel right.
I’ll give it a go but i have too many ideas just to go for one. =?
Posted on 14 August, 2009 at 9:13 am by Corey Brotherson
Glad you’re all enjoying the idea – and even if you dont think your art is up to snuff, it’s worth giving it a blast. Heck, if everyone ends up entering stickmen, then you just have to make sure your stickman is the best of the rest
wardragon989 – if you’re struggling to choose one idea from many, you may want to do quick little thumbnail sketches of your main ones and see which one looks like something Sucker Punch would like. Remember, they’re the ones who will be judging your entry, so make sure it’s along the themes, tone and style of inFamous itself to increase your chances. Sometimes being subtle can be just as effective as an ‘in your face’ style conclusion.
Good luck to you all

What! Subtle!? So my giant mech Steve McQueen with his sidekick Astronaught Spaceman Cowboy are too much!? :O
Back to the drawing board… ¬_¬
Posted on 14 August, 2009 at 11:39 am by Corey Brotherson
Heh! Cole verses giant mech Steve McQueen and co. would be interesting (my money’s on Cole), but I don’t think it would work for this competition, I’m afraid

Hey Corey, thanks for linking to terms of the competition, nice to be able to see witch contries can join.
But other than that, im gonna give it a try.

You’re welcome and make sure you do – opportunities like this only come around once in a blue moon…

Posted on 14 August, 2009 at 4:04 pm by EncodedFun
@19 Noby can draw a perfect cirkel, only Leonado Davinci could do that.

SO…….we get half a page to work on? Great. that’s not too hard is it lol

Posted on 14 August, 2009 at 5:44 pm by Bearskopff
Just finished the first cell. This is much harder than I was expecting tbh. Hopefully, I’ll have something half presentable by the end of Sunday.
Doubtful though.

You have to be in it, very true Corey. I might encourage a mate to enter, he used to be in the same graphics class as me and he could draw anything within 5 minutes. If you see any suspicious entries from me it would be by him
Posted on 17 August, 2009 at 9:29 am by Corey Brotherson
Well just make sure your entry actually is your own
25
Posted on 15 August, 2009 at 7:36 am by exion
hehe, ok, I’ve just submitted my entry after a whole nights work… I’m starting to hallucinate due to sleep deprivation and I’ve wasted valuable (and limited) essay writing time, but I enjoyed this competition a lot (plus I learned a few new art techniques that I’ll be sure to hone)…
So, are we allowed multiple entries or what?
Posted on 17 August, 2009 at 9:37 am by Corey Brotherson
A hearty pat on the back for such dedication! Hope you managed to catch up on your sleep and essay, those are pretty important too
I’m afraid only one entry per person is allowed – so make sure your very best is put forward as even if you fire off dozens to us only your first try will be eligible (check out the full Terms and Conditions here: http://uk.playstation.com/legal/detail/item228650/inFamous-Comic-Strip -Competition-Summer-2009-Entry-Rules/) – wouldn’t want you losing more sleep (or essay writing time
) and it would be a shame if you dedicated so much time to entries that wouldn’t be accepted.
Remember everyone, the compo is open for a good few weeks yet, so there’s plenty of time to create something you’re REALLY happy with before sending it over.

Posted on 15 August, 2009 at 2:47 pm by Bearskopff
Well, I’ve submitted mine but just noticed the one I submitted didn’t have the filter on. D: What dunce! XD
Either way, I hope the SCEE folks make a gallery out of the images. It’d be awesome to see what everyone else came up with.
Oh, and next time a comp like this happens – I’m getting me a tablet. Drawing with a mouse is painful!

hah – i submitted my entry on Sunday after spending many hours crafting the awesomeness of the final panel. i liked the idea of having to finish someone elses story, the moral dilemma bit took some thinking about but i think i came up with a suitable option, and a message for the kids
i think it’s a bit weird we had to submit the whole page though instead of just the last panel :\ i’ve kept all the roughs and final uber resolution pic though, you never know i might get a wooden spoon for trying.
ps: thanks for the free comic font! worth entering for that alone.

@ Bearskopff – a gallery of the entries would be awesome. good luck mate.

Posted on 17 August, 2009 at 6:39 pm by MobileTone
@ Corey Brotherson – i sent mine off before i had time to start fiddling with it and ruin what i had. a good artist knows when to stop, not when it’s finished, but just stop.
Posted on 18 August, 2009 at 9:39 am by Corey Brotherson
Indeed – Leonardo da Vinci said: “Art is never finished, only abandoned.” Although in this case, many of you still have three weeks to ‘abandon’ your art, so no rush if you’re finding that your muse is drowning you in inspiration
Looking forward to seeing all of these entries! I’m a big comics fan and obviously the Sucker Punch team is full of them, and you guys are a talented bunch…

I sent mine off! Well, least I thought I did…
I forgot to attach it in the email! XD
Thanks Jo, for letting me know. I’ve sent it through this time – I think :/
