Vidzone Scores Placebo Exclusive

We’ve managed to grab our 3rd exclusive premiere especially for the PlayStation community!

Placebo fans are in for a double treat on Wednesday August 19, 2009; two brand new music videos from their #1 album “Battle For The Sun” will be exclusively available in VidZone (even before TV or elsewhere online).

Placebo - The Neverending Why

The Never Ending Why – the latest single from European number one album, Battle For The Sun – uses a semi-surreal narrative to capture the high energy of classic Placebo. Ashtray Heart – taken from the same album – has quickly become a live favourite at the band’s summer gigs.

VidZone: Placebo - Ashtray Heart

We’re giving you loads of notice about it so don’t forget to have a look on Wednesday and let us know what you think of it before anyone else gets to see it!

Did you enjoy this?

TiranKenja 17 August, 2009 @ 2:09 pm   2

I know I am beating a dead horse here… but:

Yay! Yet another exclusive I can’t see, even tho I am the resident of a European country… Last I checked anyway.

There. That helped a little…

Spurvugle 17 August, 2009 @ 2:09 pm   3

Nice, but when wil norway get vidzone?

sully1311 17 August, 2009 @ 2:14 pm   4

Just read that Vidzone is going 16:9 in September. Is this true?

Ps. Keep up the good work ben + team!!

    Ben Creasey 17 August, 2009 @ 2:21 pm

    Hi Sully1311,

Thanks. However, I’m afraid I can’t comment on that. We’ll have more news shortly.

    Ben

Chimpanzee 17 August, 2009 @ 2:16 pm   5

Is that a 16:9 video I see there? (…or is it just cropped)

That is awesome. For people who have Vidzone. But we have not. Thanks…. :-(

wbrinkman 17 August, 2009 @ 2:33 pm   7

Do you guys have any announcement to make during GDC / Gamescom this week?

    Ben Creasey 17 August, 2009 @ 3:01 pm

    Hi wbrinkman,

We do indeed have an announcement at Gamescon. Watch this space ;)

    Ben

SimRu1983 17 August, 2009 @ 2:41 pm   8

Awesome! can’t wait for 2pm UK time!

GutsBerserker 17 August, 2009 @ 2:48 pm   9

Come on guys let us stop with those “when will I see VidZone in my country?” replies, at least until the GamesCom’s over.

If there’s still no news after that, well just let the [DELETED] go on ;)
But I’m sure we’ll here something about new territories this week.

Still not in the whole of Europe… Article rated 1

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the PS Europe blog… the place where Sony releases info for the whole of Europe… I guess Europe got a lot smaller for Sony…

>:(

great news for vidzone and for all of us.

The service is great (thanks for the music in spanish ^__^), but i just read this in gamesindustry about the future of vidzone: “it’s likely there will be commerce elements added to the service, although watching videos on demand will remain a free service on the PlayStation 3. ”

It’s true? when? what “commerce elements”?

Jerommeke 17 August, 2009 @ 3:16 pm   12

Damm I love Placebo.
I wanna watch this video :)

great exclusive btw, keep up the good work.
I hope the announcement will be awsome (something like: vidzone relaeses in whole eu)

swooshboy 17 August, 2009 @ 3:23 pm   13

I think you need to take down the European flag down from the header of this blog when you talk about Vidzone.

It seems like a good service, but it continues to be extremely disappointing that the included countries have not been added to since the launch.

Another exclusive great job. :)

spacebrain 17 August, 2009 @ 3:43 pm   15

i hope the rest of europe will get this great service!

I was VidZone current play list “one hit wonders” and try to do search of artist t.A.T.u. I could not find the artist called t.A.T.u.which is strange as they have 3 video’s on VidZone.

t.A.T.u. – All the things she said
t.A.T.u. – Your not going to get us
t.A.T.u. – All about us

I think it an issue with case, as you would notice that it is a lower case t.

Samarotu 17 August, 2009 @ 4:14 pm   17

Yes Baby… :)

you´re goin to get more & more an Killerapp.!!!

Go on for more…

Placebo r great.

Darkos87 17 August, 2009 @ 5:17 pm   18

It is fair to say that vidzone has become the undisputed success story on the ps3 this year… I was incredibly sceptical when I first heard it, thinking ‘meh, when will I ever use that?’ I now use vidzone whenever friends come over and we’re just having a chat, or in everyday chores… truly magnificent. keep it up!

GothPunk 17 August, 2009 @ 5:18 pm   19

The first band I searched for on VidZone was Placebo so this news is great. I can’t wait to see them! :D

Zombie11 17 August, 2009 @ 6:31 pm   20

When is this coming to Norway?? PLZ :(

almighty-slayer 17 August, 2009 @ 8:03 pm   21

Excellent work, Ben and the rest of the VidZone team :)

jaferris 17 August, 2009 @ 9:31 pm   22

awesome but what is with the final destination trailer playing after each video omg please fix this trailer gets boring after seen it 20times lol :(

    Ben Creasey 18 August, 2009 @ 11:31 am

    Hi Jaferris,

We’re really sorry for this. We in no way intended for adverts to play after each video as this would spoil your enjoyment. This problem should be fixed now but any problems don’t hesitate to tell us off! :)
playstation@vidzone.tv if this happens again. But it shouldn’t! :)

    Ben

Schnello 17 August, 2009 @ 9:31 pm   23

Any new information about the release in the rest of europe?

When do we in Sweden get vidzone?

Brianemone 17 August, 2009 @ 10:03 pm   25

Add New Zealand to the list of Countries wanting to find out what is happening. We were told when it was announced that it would be launching here and then nothing.

Dannehkins 17 August, 2009 @ 11:41 pm   26

This is great, I love Placebo so this ticks all the right boxes.

Keep these exclusives coming, great work.

LoveDoctor 17 August, 2009 @ 11:59 pm   27

Great news for the countries that have this service, annoying for the ones that don’t. If you wait ’till GamesCon to announce this you’re missing the point sadly. Something NEW is announced at an event, continuous rollout within a territory should be an open book with due-dates and reasons-for-delays.

The demography of PS3 users is a bit wider than just kids, and we’d like to be informed like adult users of a Sony product. Please take the EU Flag off future vidzone posts as it’s just rubbing sault in the wound.

Congrats on the Placebo exclusive. Have fun rest of EU.

Smegzilla 18 August, 2009 @ 12:42 am   28

Well said, LoveDoctor.

I know I’m fortunate enough to be in a country with access to Vidzone, but I’ll still rally for those of you who don’t!

Noisepurge 18 August, 2009 @ 7:28 am   29
