As I mentioned in last week’s update, I’m not actually here this week, so this is being posted in my absence and I won’t be around to monitor the comments this week.
There’s another varied batch of content this week, with an updated demo for Fight Night Round 4 available (now you can try the punch button layout, rather than the sticks), all the Disgaea 3 additional content has been collected into one monstrous collection, and we also have extra content available for F.E.A.R.2, Pain and High Velocity Bowling. We also have the third Buzz! Junior title available on the store for those who are looking for something for all the family to enjoy.
PSP owners can look forward to Fate/Unlimited Codes and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, as well as the demo for the upcoming Holy Invasion Of Privacy Badman!, and the first pack available for Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?
I’ll be back as usual next week, so for any burning questions I’d leave them for next week’s comments section. Have a good week all.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, SCEE QA issues have resulted in Fate/Unlimited Codes being pushed back to next Thursday, September 3rd. Apologies for the inconvenience.

agree with post #47 – Sony AU should align it self with SCEA. Im sick of waiting for SCEE to put down their cup of tea and actually get back to work and run the PS store properly.. !

So will I be able to download the Badman demo or will it be out of my reach like the Dissedia one because I don’t have a ps3, why did that happen, why does a psp demo have to be downloaded using a ps3, I don’t have unlimited funds.

Edit: Further to my previous comment I notice that the Rock Band marketing suits realise the value of ‘magic’ price points since their tracks are €1.49 and 99p.
Yet SCEE’s policy calculates it at €1.49 and £1.19, just like how £9.99 games become £11.99. For pities sake please fix your pricing policy – bring in a points system if you have to!!! It is ridiculous that things cost the same in $ and in € but swing inconsistently in £ depending on who is publishing it!
Microsoft have managed to use the same exchange rate for years, some of the third parties manage to use the same exchange rate on PSN, and you don’t see EuroMillions Lottery tickets jumping around in price each week either. If €1.49 = 99p for Rock Band, then €1.49 should = 99p for Premium themes too.
I’ve said it before, there’s certain expectations in pricing when it comes to gaming be it 99p or £9.99, so when you start increasing prices it will upset your consumers (and affect sales) – the RRP of retail games hasn’t changed in years (MW2 excluded) so what makes SCEE so special that they can cream a bit extra off UK users than any other publisher does?

Bomberman? Metal gear solid 1? Little big planet theme? Afrika theme? And now it’s been confirmed no god of war 1 or 2 this year? It really feels like we’re gettin shafted here…Any reasons why?

This is as good as update 3.0
Yep, it’s bad. Not even a free moving theme…
So sad, so lazy…

No dynamic theme for europe even though there’s already at least 2 available elsewhere…. go figure….

Posted on 3 September, 2009 at 11:46 am by Gavin_Rozee
I’ll get the BZB theme if it’s dynamic/animated. If there’s no way of knowing I’ll just skip it though.
No new avatars and possibly no dynamic themes. Thanks for another week of neglect SCEE.

JUST TO MAKE THIS CLEAR: that Burn Zombie Burn PREMIUM theme ISNT a “DYNAMIC THEME”…. its just a static theme your all used to. —————-

Dear New PS3 Slim owners,
This is SCEE showing how much they value their customers. Welcome to our world.
- loony
Absolutely nothing today once again.
A Buzz Junior game? No thanks! I bought the last one randomly and it was pathetic.
FNR4 demo? I didn’t like it the first time and another demo wont change that. Most peopple who wanted it, have it.
FEAR 2 – Couldn’t care less about that at all.
Disagea 3 DLC – Ridiculous! I can buy the game TWICE and have money left over for that price.
Pain – Characters add nothing to the experience.
HVB – What a load of balls…
Rock Band – Move along people nothing to see here.
A Batman gadget trailer? Really!? I’ve used all those gadgets in the game, no need to watch a video. Some villain trailers would’ve been nice though because they’re pretty good.
Wet video, probably seen it somewhere already.
Fast and Furious – Seen the movie, no need for the trailer.
Wallpaper – Two for a terrible game and two for pinball… whoopee
BZB Theme – No thanks, I’m happily using my dynamic Afrika theme I got from Japan.
The rest of the stuff… I don’t have a PSP so no need for me to mention those.

This is really starting to feel quite terrible, I really think Australia just shouldn’t be in the European region, we are getting punished for issues which have no meaning to us.
Things are looking up for sony overall, but when is that going to filter down to how we are treated as repeat, loyal consumers.
Argh, sorry Mike, it’s just getting a bit much, Bomberman, MGS, Resi 1, the state of home, and I even just read someone say that Europe won’t get the Gow 1 and 2 rerelease. End rant.

Here we go again SCEE no dynamic avatars just one premium theme. How do you think you sell things buy good promotion..!!! No decent dynamic theme @ launch of firmware 3.0 probably none in the store update which I was hoping on….!!!!
How much times do we have to ask to please just give us what we want.
We are your customers and you almost let us down every week. So I am going to ask yet again please try to make things better for us.
* more premium content
* vidzone I bet there are people who have this but a lot of countries are still waiting.
* video store
* better release schedule (demos, psn games, psone classic games etc.)
I hope you will take this in serious consideration, and don’t think that everything you guys do is bad. cause I love my ps3 and the firmware is great except for some small tweaks. Thank you for reading.

at #52 Mike’s on Holiday this week, he said so last week
I’m abit disappointed about this update, it’s abit small compared to the previous weeks, there’s actually nothing I want, which is suprising.

No Avatars? Only 1 dynamic theme? Come on SCEE you can do better than that

Posted on 3 September, 2009 at 11:57 am by Chrysus
Really loving getting the news before the update.
Forgive me here as it’s not me being ungrateful or spoilt but I do care about the reputation of the brand but with all the new PlayStation 3 owners in the last week this update seems a bit… well, small.
It’s not the best first impression seeing this little added, surelly the stops could of been pulled out a bit more to get a lot more content available this week.
The US PS Store played a blinder this week.

No new PSone Classics still?

Posted on 3 September, 2009 at 11:58 am by nick_gc
I’m excitied for the Prinny content – still yet to finish the Asagi story but this is promising replay for an excellent (if slightly infuirating) game.
The Dissidia themes are getting boring.
I’ll be downloadin the demo of Holy Invasion when I get home.
With Soul Calibur and Dissidia on there way to me, I think another beat ‘em up (Capcom’s Fate/Unlimited Codes) is a little overkill too.

As if Hudson was not treating europeans bad enough, they already anounced Bomberman Ultra 2 (sort of) for 2010 in the US!
http://www.google.com/search?q=Bomberman+Live+Battlefest+PSN
The wait is painfull, but eventually getting a game called “Ultra”, which suddenly is not that ultra anymore compared to its already anounced successor, is a slap in the face.
I wish Bomberman wasn’t in the hands of a company that rocksteadily refuses to recognize the existance of a thing called Europe.

So, no LBP theme? How thoroughly predictable. You actually choose ‘this’ week to introduce the old non-dynamic premium themes which NA have been getting since 2008 too. Amazing.
Btw,I knew the EU wouldn’t get the GoW collection as soon as I saw the US Blog announcement. I’m gonna start placing bets on SCEE’s crap marketing decisions, I’d make a fortune.

How did you guys work this one out?
Talking Heads Pack 01 (this pack contains the five Talking Heads tracks listed below) (£5.25/€6.59)
And She Was by Talking Heads (£0.99/€1.49)
Crosseyed and Painless by Talking Heads (£0.99/€1.49)
Girlfriend Is Better by Talking Heads (£0.99/€1.49)
Once In a Lifetime by Talking Heads (£0.99/€1.49)
Take me to the River by Talking Heads (£0.99/€1.49)
Am I missing something or is buying the pack of 5 more expensive than buying all 5 tracks seperate? :S
5 Track Pack = £5.25
5 Tracks Individually = £4.95

Nice update, NOT!
I was really hoping for Dynamic themes/ new avatars!
If I was Sony I would have given a FREE dynamic theme and a FEW FREE AVATARS when 3.00 launched. But guess what we got none! Japan got an Free Dynamic Theme and US a Payed one. EU? OOPS forgotten, let’s give them one for money in a couple of weeks!
Come on SCEE Give us Premium themes/ avatars ( FREE and PAYABLE).
for the rest of the update: nothing for me but maybe next week.
I will enjoy IL-2 tomorrow!

Posted on 3 September, 2009 at 12:09 pm by bravo9zero
If Sony can’t support their own Dynamic theme feature,
How do they expect other company’s too?
Should of been at LEAST 2 free Dynamic theme’s too download today.

Ok for you to notice how serious this is i only logged into this account two times atleast, this by far is the worst update on a store i ever came across.
After a fw release and nothing to show?
I dont understand why is that SCEE is so bad compared to the other SCE around the world. other have decent updates compared to ours, when they release something they release to all of its regional domain, good response from comunity overseers. good releases (still waiting for mgs), and so on! what do we have to show? nothing, Cra@@@ updates almost all the time, app releases to a few parts of our regional domain, our store undoubtly sucks compared to others and in some countries we even got restrictions on apps or non existant apps that should “enhance our ps3 experience to the next generation consoles” … its a joke really
Sincerely
A very dissatisfied costumer

You think with all the gamescom talk of the EU being an important part of Sonys customer base we would have actually been treated as equals to the US. Dont tell me, though LBP is a European game, but the US will get the theme first?

Posted on 3 September, 2009 at 12:14 pm by FBZ1501
After the anti climax off FW3.0 this is another typical week in the world of SCEE.
Bomberman (so at least a 3 month delay from the US and counting…)
PSone classics (its only been a couple of years now)
Proper animated themes and new avatars to go with 3.0…
I realize this is asking the earth and i should be thankful i’ve got some grey boxes to look at in my friends list.
Come on SCEE will you every give europe the service it deserves ????
It’s not rocket science after all.

Dos the Disgaea 2.30 Patch get seeded with the “all in one DLC” pack?
87
Posted on 3 September, 2009 at 12:21 pm by Scatigno
As usual the UK gets shafted when it comes to PSone Classics.
Do you realise that the US have Tomb Raider 1 & 2 now, and no doubt they will have Resident Evil 2 & 3 and Dino Crisis before we do.
Oh and to make matters worse ESRB have also rated both the Oddworld games (Abes Odyssey & Abes Exodus)which again will go to the US and what does the UK get stuck with
Tarzan & The Little Mermaid.
We are priviledged people, so we best not complain, because Tarzan and The Little Mermaid are classics too remember.

Le sigh.
I know it’s not your fault Mike but this weeks update is rather lacking.
I may pick up the Disgea pack once the trophy patch arrives in Europe. No idea when that will be though.
It always seems like Europe gets the worst treatment out of the “big three”.

Nothing interesting
When will we get something like the “PULSE” and “QORE” Shows? All the other regions have this. and Japan now has “Game digging”

Hey Mike,
Any news on Fallout 3 DLC? Bethesda said September-time, but then again they said Operation: Anchorage would be out at the end of June. :/
Cheers, and thanks for braving the ‘fans’ as it were, week after week

Awesome marketing, release new PS3 and bang hit the new punters with an incredible array of new titles at the exciting psn store.
I only hope the marketing team that planned the launch and cleverly organised this amazing store update get the recognition they deserve.
The mesmerising beauty of firmware 3.0 and the release of the elegant dynamic themes…I just don’t know which one to choose.
The internet is full of talk of how Sony are number one again with a great new PS3 and a playstation network that kick Microsoft’s live into orbit !

How do we not get the LBP theme!? Ahh, this is so infuriating!
It’s bad enough that we have to pay for it. Should be at least 1 free theme to ‘welcome’ in the new feature.
Mike, enjoy your holidays (you deserve it) but continue your great work when you return. Sort out those SCEE slackers.
You’re our only hope Mi-Ke Ke-Bi.

With all this tlak of avatars, why is sony not giving me the option to show my HOME avatar instead…preferably animated. It would be one way to get people using HOME, with its accurate modeling and all.
Also…does anybody else find that the gray boxes in the new friend list, flickers?
