The Caped Crusader is really up against it in Batman: Arkham Asylum. He’s trapped in the Asylum itself and Gotham City’s most deranged criminals are there to stop him uncovering The Joker’s nefarious plot.
The game is already looking an atmospheric classic, and what better way to enjoy it than in glorious surround sound?
We’re giving you the chance to win a top of the range Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound system – if there’s a PS3 in Wayne Manor, this is what it will be hooked up to. Nine runners-up will each receive a pair of Logitech G35 surround sound headphones.
All you have to do is head to eu.playstation.com/psn/competitions/ and identify the Gotham City supervillains.
Good luck!

Page doesn’t work!
Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 9:15 am by James Gallagher
I just got into work this morning and saw that some people are having problems. Apologies – I tested the competition across all browsers before leaving last night, although I don’t have a Mac in the office, which seems to be the issue.
Looking into it now, anyway.

Guys, how could you stuff this up so badly? It won’t work on safari, firefox, or opera, according to others it works on IE but some of us don’t have IE and personally never want it, please fix this as soon as you can

Good luck to all who enter though!

When I get redirected to the norwegian site all I see is a infamous competition…are not norwegians allowed to enter?
Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 9:19 am by James Gallagher
Unfortunately, we aren’t able to run this competition in Norway or Sweden. It’s a problem we encounter often and is to do with laws in those countries – we’re not allowed to organise comps with chance-based elements, like prize draws.
We’re really sorry but there’s no way around it.

content manager for SCEE posted this? hmm interesting. OI IDIOT WHO POSTIED THIS ARTICLE TRY LOOKING AT THE THREAD WITH 300 NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THE STORE UPDATE.
sorry about the cap lock but maybe that will wake you up.
and as posted in the other thread.
182 comments and still no word from anyone monitoring this. here let me post my question again in porper in english as i made some mistakes the first time.
do you think that the way things are handled regarding the PSN in Europe and game releases in Europe compared to SCEA is acceptable?
please copy and paste this question at will please lets hope the more people who do the more we likely get an answer. im gonna copy and paste this on a couple of other threads on the blog too to drum up support.

It’s really got nothing to do with me, or this competition.
I’m just a writer.

Entered just fine on my Firefox so I guess it must be fixed.
I’m most of the way through Arkham Asylum but I’m still not sure I enjoy it. I don’t deny it’s very high quality but I’m just not having all that much in the way of fun.

Hey guys.
Currently competitions on PlayStation.com can only be accessed from a PC (or Mac). I’ve tested it with Firefox and Safari (and even on my iPhone) and it’s working fine for me.
We’re looking into allowing competitions to be accessed through the PS3 in the future. This is important to us as we’ve got plenty of competitions planned for the future and we’re always keen to encourage people to visit directly from their PS3s (as many thousands of you have been doing through the What’s New screen!).
In the meantime, hop onto your computer and access from there.
Cheers!

true but if he ignores it he wouldnt be doing anything that i wouldnt already expect from any employee of SCEE. ifr he takes offense i appologise but the points made are fact.

Boo I can’t enter. What is it about Ireland that we can’t enter these competitions?
Not just here but others as well. UK Okay Ireland no way.

Ireland can enter – try again.

I hate not being able to view playstation webpages using the PS3 browser. Even worse that it comes up with a 404 error. At least give an error message stating that we can’t access the site using the PS3 browser.
It’s kind of counter-productive though, having a website that doesn’t run on your console and I don’t have access to a PC to enter this one
Please fix this as soon as possible. =(

“This promotion is open to residents of Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and UK aged 16 years old or over.”
So, if you only see the inFamous contest after clicking on the competition link you now know why (which is my case too as I live in Sweden, where many such contests easily fall under the “lottery” category our local laws don’t make easy for SCEE to walk around).
For the others, good luck as those are some fine Bat-prizes. ;D

Just a question question about the runner up prizes.
I was under the impression that the Logitech G35′s could not output sound from the PS3, only voice chat. Is that correct?
If so, then the runner’s up will be a little disappointed with their super-duper surround sound headsets…. : (

@ 26 I think this is what we get for voting no to Lisbon.
Seriously, why is it only UK based people who can enter? (By the way, I’m using BT Ireland broadband, on my Sony VAIO laptop, using Mozilla Firefox, on Windows Vista, and all I see is a white page after clicking ‘Enter Competition.’

for the irish, monkeyman and colmshan, try this direct link:
http://ie.playstation.com/psn/competitions/detail/item231725/ Batman-Arkham-Asylum/
it works for me with FF or IE (on winXP), but i’m in the uk, though it doesn’t redirect me to the uk page.

Thanks, twistedintoform, but it just didn’t work for me. (It’s the page after that’s white) Seriously, thanks for trying to help us out though. (Unlike some I could mention, eh, SCEE?)
Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 3:25 pm by James Gallagher
Sorry for the problems, colmshan. I’ve been scratching my head for hours and have finally fixed the competition for Irish users.
See post 72 if you want the boring details of how.
Sorry again, and good luck.

any luck with this one?
http://competition.software.eu.playstation.com/batman/batman_e n_GB.html?returnURL=http://ie.playstation.com/psn/competitions/detail/ item231724/Batman-Arkham-Asylum/
according to what i can see, the competition should be open to people from ireland. had a quick look at the source for the page and you will need java(script) enabled in your browser, and you’ll also need flash. if you have any script blockers in firefox, it might cause a problem, or try upgrading to the latest version of flash if you haven’t done so.
after that, i’m out of ideas.

Why did you remove the firmware 3.00 page? Too hot under the feet Sony? Sort out the way you deal with unsatisfied customers. It’s the main reason you’re in the third place…

@ James – So the more I read, the less likely it is that the G35′s work on the PS3. Any particular reason for giving away that particular headset?

Loving Batman and the competition is a great idea. It’s a pity that it serves as another reminder of the problems with the ps3 browser.

I’m from Poland and I’m 26 years old but when I try to enter this contest I have this message :
” Based on your PlayStation Network details, you are not eligible to enter this competition. This may be due to individual country laws regarding minimum age and competition entry requirements. “

I thought it was enough to get the usual “only for US citizen” competitions, but no. Excluded from SCEE competitions too. Thanks a lot!
