The Caped Crusader is really up against it in Batman: Arkham Asylum. He’s trapped in the Asylum itself and Gotham City’s most deranged criminals are there to stop him uncovering The Joker’s nefarious plot.
The game is already looking an atmospheric classic, and what better way to enjoy it than in glorious surround sound?
We’re giving you the chance to win a top of the range Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound system – if there’s a PS3 in Wayne Manor, this is what it will be hooked up to. Nine runners-up will each receive a pair of Logitech G35 surround sound headphones.
All you have to do is head to eu.playstation.com/psn/competitions/ and identify the Gotham City supervillains.
Good luck!

To be honest I think Bruce Wayne would have something a little more up market than that connected to his PS3, but still nice bit of promotion there…
I’d be interested in winning a pair of the headphones though, and if I won the main prize I could sell it for a pair of headphones!

@42
i don’t know what you’re talking about, the firmware 3.0 page is still there and still open for comments (unlike the US one).
@50
your country doesn’t allow (in law) prize draws such as these, SCEE isn’t allowed to include you. unfortunate, but should it stop the rest of us who laws allow such competitions?

Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 11:19 am by Apnomis
Norway and Sweden don’t allow any chance-based competitions by law?! Sucks to live there, almost all competitions must have some element of chance as there are not many types of competition where there would be one definitive winner. I suppose something like a drawing competition would be judged on talent so that isn’t chance – so they could have a design a Batman villian comp, but not an identify a Batman villian prize draw. No wonder SCEE have such a tough time keeping everyone happy…
Oh and I fully agree that it’s utterly stupid that the PS3 default webpage clashes with the eu.playstation site! I’ve tried accessing various pages before now and been sent to a 404 error on the PS3 version of the site! It used to be the same problem accessing the EU Forums but I don’t know if that’s been fixed yet.
It makes no sense – how hard would it be to give the PS3 formatted site it’s own domain? ps3.playstation.com or psn.playstation.com and include the new homepage default in a firmware update. That way users can access both. At least the blog works…

my main problem with the browser is that sometimes the whole thing just locks completely and the only way out is to hit the (|) button on the front.

Based on your PlayStation Network details, you are not eligible to enter this competition. This may be due to individual country laws regarding minimum age and competition entry requirements.
I get the message above in orange writing above the picture of Joker.
I’m over 18 years old, I live in Ireland and theres nothing in the terms and conditions that would make me uneligible. This is the 3rd competition that say’s im uneligible to join. Why’s that?

Ireland can enter – try again.”
I can’t enter I keep getting this
“Based on your PlayStation Network details, you are not eligible to enter this competition. This may be due to individual country laws regarding minimum age and competition entry requirements.”

This is bemusing. I’m trying to get hold of the guy who built the page. I’ll update here when I know something.
Sorry Ireland.
Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 2:29 pm by James Gallagher
Is your PSN account registered in Ireland and are you on ie.playstation.com?
I’ve tried everything I can think of and can’t see why you’re having these problems.

Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 12:36 pm by geddesmond2
OK we have to make sure we are on the Irish version of the site which gets rid of that message and allows the enter competition button to appear, but once I click on the enter competition I just get a blank page. I have tryed this on Firefox and IE and both load a blank page?

So much complaining when there is free stuff to win. Come on grow up. Thanks Sony for this offer.

Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 1:14 pm by loonytoon1982
I don’t see anyone complaining about the prizes, it’s more down to the fact that they’re having trouble entering or they can’t enter at all. Seems like they have reason to complain about it.

I know just as little about PlayStation Store updates as any of you.

Works for me with Firefox on Linux now, so I guess the issues where just temporary. As for the suggestion someone had here about complaining about the prizes, well if you don’t like the prizes don’t join the competition, very simple
A little surprising though that the surround system comes from Logitech instead of being a Sony surround system, just from a Sony marketing point if nothing else.

I have registered on the Playstation.ie and the little flag beside my name should prove it. I went through the EU site and I got the message. I went throught Playstation.ie and I get a blank page.
Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 3:17 pm by James Gallagher
OK, this is for everyone in Ireland that has been experiencing problems. First of all, massive apologies, but I’ve fixed it.
I set myself up an IE PSN account and tested the comp, only to find a problem with the piece of code that redirects the user to the English version of the page (every other country works fine because it has its own version of the page, in its own language).
It also means that the competition is now open to Australia and New Zealand as well, although I haven’t heard any complaints from our antipodean friends as of yet.
Anyway – you guys have the luck of the Irish on your side so it’s only fair everyone else gets a few hours head-start!
But seriously, I’m really sorry.

Actually,
I’m in Australia, logging in with Australian PSN ID, and yet I couldn’t see the batman competition… Can only see the Infamous one. And when I tried to use the link below, it just says “based on your current account, etc. etc.”
http://ie.playstation.com/psn/competitions/detail/item231725/ Batman-Arkham-Asylum/
Any idea?

This is kind of ridiculus… how come you can’t have these kind of competitions in Sweden?
There are plenty of Swedish websites that have these kind of competitions. I recently won one of them myself.
All you need to do is state that the winners are selected by a Jury. Then it’s not up to chance. How that jury selects the winners is up to them though… That’s how you did it with the inFamous competition…
This is really bad.

“This promotion is open to residents of Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and UK aged 16 years old or over.”
Hoorray for Belgium. Being squeezed between the countries that are allowed to enter the competition feels really ridiculous.
I hate our politicians!!
78
Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 7:33 pm by StefNighthawk
AAAArgh!! Sony does like to tease everyone who can’t compete.
On the Belgian frontpage they mention the competition but the links are only to the frontpage.
SCEE has sunk so low that I’m no longer going to buy new Sony consoles. On my next YLOD I’ll buy a 360.
79
Posted on 4 September, 2009 at 7:34 pm by T-Grave
@StefNighthawk:
Yeah, it sucks.
All though for as far as I know there aren’t any laws forbids SCEE from bringing out any contests based on chance-luck systems.
I think there might be a restriction, so you’ve got to be 18 to be able to enter a contest with such a system in Belgium. So I don’t get why SCEE didn’t bring the contest over to Belgium…
Sure, people below 18 wouldn’t be able to enter, but it’s better than nothing, right

@James Gallagher:
If you are at it, please check the “Notorious B.I.G.” competition, the answers are ALL false cause your (Sony’s) writer mistook the death of Tupac Shakur ( died sep. 7th 1996) for that of Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace (died MARCH 9th 1997)
March 9th 1997 is not an available answer even though beeing the right date. Instead there is the date of Tupacs death …
Ain’t anyone ever checking these pages before release ?

James? Are you still here? Seriously, what’s the point of mentioning the competition on the belgian playstation homepage if we are not able to participate? I know you’re not responsible for this but you must admit that from our customer point of view, SCEE appears more and more like a bunch of amateurs (at least in Belgium).
