Hi Ben. Thanks for the update. I might reconsider VidZone at a later stage of development.

Apart from all those waaay many advertisements, I have THREE big issues with Vidzone, which made me delete it again:

- it’s TOO SLOW and unresponsive on my 6000Bit DSL connection

- searching titles or artists is a true hassle. A more enhanced search mode is necessary, as well as an improved UI. I need too many clicks and things are in too many different spaces for quick control.

- it advertisement clips are WAY too loud. Each time, they were on, I jumped because they didn’t seem to match the music videos overall volume…

this is my very first post on the blog and i dont want to complain. I had the ad-bug only once. Yesterday i had an ad every third clip. Anyway i just want to thank you guys for your great service and the effort you put in this service. Also for being so open to the customers. If i am not playing games I only use VidZone on my PS3 This is much better then the Video store they got over there. Anyway thanks a lot

I’ve never encountered this ad bug, but wasn’t their a patch released that sorted this out?

Anyhow, great service and this video doesn’t fail to fall short of what I just said. Fantastic.

Reading the comments I am wondering: Was the application tested and was (or) is there any quality control?
Anyway whenever it will be in The Netherlands few of the complaints will be fixed.

Even though I’m one of the people that loves to bash you guys for the growing list of improvements that need to be made to VidZone…I will say you’ve done a great job keeping it updated with content, especially as it’s free.

But, of course, I’m really here to demand better search functionality lol.

Suggestions

- Drastically reduce loading time at start up.
- A “what’s new” section showing just the latest additions would be welcome. (Or a “search by date” filter)
- I still can’t find any downloadable song. To either mobile or HDD. Is there any at all?
- Revamp the interface. It’s almost like browsing a website.
- Some videos are so heavily compressed it hurts (ie. Lontano dal Tuo Sole by Neffa

How’s that Disturbed content coming along? Requested just over a month ago via email and every week since.

Not having a dig, I know these things take time to secure rights and stuff. I’m just looking for some feedback.

The last time I went on Vidzone it showed me 3 adverts in a row so I powered off my PS3.

You really need to make sure the advert to music ratio is reasonable as well as get more artists on there. For example why is there still no news on MUSE having actual tracks on there instead of an empty category?

Also please get the videos up to DVD quality. iPlayer is now serving up at 1.5Mbit so there is no reason VidZone should not do the same. Surely around 2Mbit H264 (with an option for people to choose lower quality if they have a nasty bandwidth cap) should be able to pull off full resolution near DVD quality?

Please when is vidzone out for Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Finland? Please dont post soon? A date would be alot better.

BUG REPORT in vidzone:

Vidzone doesn’t take into account PS3’s button layout.
My PS3 (CECHA00, jpn) is “O button” for “OK” and “X button” for “Cancel”.
All the possible programs take that config (including western games etc.) except Vidzone (and Zen Pinball actually).
Vizone misteriously forces “X button” for “OK” and “O button” for “Cancel”.

I loved playing with this app when I bought my PS3 in the UK. I can’t wait to get back into it when it comes to Denmark. Is there any word on what the content will be when it comes to Scandinavia? Will it be the same content as the UK has or will it all be localised?

bah. im not using this again untill they get rid of those stupid 30 second ads that play after every one or two video. i know they need to make money . but these ads just dont go away for more than 5 minutes.

Many thanks for replying to my comment #33. Have just sent an email to the address you supplied. In short I had (i believe) 84 videos in my playlist and wanted to delete “Salva Mea” by Faithless. Went through usual procedures, deletion message appeared, total went down to 83, video was still there. Repeated procedure again, total went down to 82, again video still there.

It’s no big deal, if the video has to stay it has to stay. I just find it strange that my total is going down yet nothing appears to be getting deleted??

Right, I’ve just “deleted” another video, total went down by 1, video gone off playlist. Tried to delete “Salva Mea” again, but it stays on there.

I must admit I really like Vidzone, and would also like to thank you for the constant advert for IL2 sturmovik Birds of Prey. It made me rent it and I really enjoyed it.

Hey Ben, the music videos for Liam Finn (cool musician from New Zealand) appear to be broken, it pops up with an error when they are selected.
Also need to get Muse and Green Day on to vidzone ASAP.

JUST IMAGINE IF VIDZONE RAN AS GOOD AND MORE ROBUST AS THE PSN STORE..THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

When will VidZone be available in AUSTRIA?
As you might know, we speak also German, so it shouldn’t really be a problem to make it available here too…

Hey, I got an update today! PS3 keypad is different than what I expected (it’s optional) but works a treat. Also some 16:9 vids! Great work.

Sony is doing great with vidzone but it needs more bands like Green Day, Paramore and Muse. Oh and more songs for Blink 182 and Angels & Airwaves please.
