Hello all, I’m pleased to say that this week we have available for you three new dynamic themes from the worlds of LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm and WipEout HD. The added bonus for you all is that the WipEout HD theme is absolutely free!
Whilst we’re on the subject of themes, I just wanted to clarify that we will be getting more dynamic themes (utilising the new animated features) in the future, as well as continuing to roll out the newly available premium themes. Premium themes are static themes, but have been created to a higher standard (and some will utilise additional sound files) and therefore are billable. However, we are not stopping the release of free themes, so please don’t worry that free themes will no longer be available, as this will not be the case.
So now onto the rest of the update that will be published later this evening – Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos is a new puzzle/adventure game coming your way, whilst we also see demos galore this week with the releases of FIFA 10, Fat Princess, LittleBigPlanet and Katamari Forever to try – I think that lot should keep you busy for a while. If not, we also have available tracks for Guitar Hero 5, as well as new content for Pain and High Velocity Bowling.
After last weeks issues for our PSP users, I can confirm that Fate/Unlimited Codes and the demo for Holy Invasion of Badman! will be available today, as well as the game BIGS 2 and a second pack for Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? Apologies for the problems we encountered last week.
I’m back and ready to do my duty in the firing line of the comments section, so let me know your thoughts.

Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos – was wondering about that for the oldest girl, she’s 11 and just started to learn english in school – would it work as a help to learn the language?
I’m thinking of the old PC game – Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego or is this nothing as that?

hmmm, ok..mike, Im glad youre about, could you perhaps answer a couple of things?
Batman DLC… is it around today? also Invincible Tiger, do you have a date?
and one more thing… these updates are ok, but nothing stella, I think even you can understand this, even if people here are very happy with it, I think you understand what im saying.
what im trying to ask you is.. is there anything ‘worth our while’ coming in the next few months? I know about F3 DLC, i cant wait to get my hands on that, but is there anything in the same calibre as say BF1943 lurking in the background?
I have spent a fortune on PSN stuff, dont you think its time that Sony reward loyal customers? you know.. its not hard for Sony to find out who spends what on the PSN, I just think it would be a unique way of thanking loyal PS3 customers, and may win you some more.. even if it was HOME stuff or points towards something on the PSN… it would go a long way.
Anyway, if you could think about aswering any of that, would make me a happy bunny

If only I could start telling you all what’s on the horizon, but unfortunately I have to keep a lot of the titles I see coming under wraps. It’s not my place to be announcing titles – but I am hoping at some point to do another round up post of titles that are coming in the future once I get permission from the relevant teams (like the Summer Titles post I did a couple of months back)

Hi Mike, I’m really hoping you can help with the reason behind some missing content.
Why isn’t the Pain Sore Spots pack available? It has two fun-sounding new environments to explore and accompanying challenges/trophies, that I can’t enjoy, nor my stable of ready and willing launchees, because it’s currently not on the UK Store.
Great update for this week, though, especially because of the Katamari demo.

Nice to see a bounty of goodies available this week!
Hope you had a good time of Mike. I have to admit you do a sterling job at answering a ton of peoples queries here. If I could give you Kudos I would.
I dont suppose you have a rough number as to how many PSP titles will be added when the PSP Go goes live do you? I’m just debating holding out on a few UMD version games and if the prices are decent I may just buy them online. No worries if you would be brutally butchered by Sony for telling me though !
Posted on 10 September, 2009 at 3:37 pm by Mike Kebby
We are adding more and more PSP titles to the store, and the plan is to get as many out there digitally as possible – I just can’t confirm titles, dates and quantities at the moment (you’re on the right lines with the butchering threat though – I have to be careful
)

Regarding the link Ross_K91 posted, it’s not working because there is a space between the “g” and “e” in “message”.

Something that occurred to me last week is that game updates are rarely documented anywhere. There have been a few times where I’ve only found out about an update weeks after it came out.
Would it be possible to include a round-up of any game updates that have gone live in the last week in the Store Update thread?

Nice amount of demos, DLC and theme. The price of themes is fairly reasonable, and a free theme.
Great update.
Although i would have liked some more avatars (purely just because I want to see some in the store) and trine. But possibly next week is good enough for now.

Finally a decent update!
Thanks for the free dynamic theme
I can’t wait to try Fat Princess. I was looking forward to Castle Crashers, but apparently it will be released 2010
So, I might buy Fat Princess this year if I like it. I’ll buy Castle Crashers next year for sure.
I’ll also give FIFA 10 a go. I haven’t played football games in years. I find them even more boring than watching a match on TV.

Welcome back Mike, it’s nice to have some proper interaction with someone in the know again! It can’t be mentioned enough how much this community values your dedication to giving feedback to our replies (even if some of those replies aren’t very polite)! Not to mention the fine job you’ve done with the update this week – even the price of the Dynamic Themes seems reasonable.
Speaking of prices, you appear to be applying SCEE’s new (and IMO too high) Euro to GBP exrate of 0.8 to bundle packs, but the individual items are (quite rightly) maintaining their established exrate to price them at 99p (inline with similar content from other sources and your competitors). This means that, even though the € price of the bundle is cheaper than the individual cost, the £ price is more expensive! And before you get any ideas – you should decrease the price of the bundles, not increase the price of the individual items!!!
Last week for example the Talking Heads Bundle was priced at £5.25, the 5 tracks were the usual 99p – so the bundle actually cost 30p more (but €0.86 less in Euros!).
Please fix this! Bundles should use the same exrate conversion of the individual items they contain!!!
Posted on 10 September, 2009 at 3:50 pm by Mike Kebby
Thanks Apnomis, good to be back amongst the madness again
I’m not being evasive here, but I’m not able to address pricing concerns I’m afraid, this is a much bigger issue than I – but that Talking Heads example was most likely a mistake, as the Rock Band packs are designed to save the consumer money rather than cost more than the individual tracks.

can i just say…..
Great update guys!
i thought after the last few weeks we were done for,
thanks you for the free dynamic theme, alot of people will be happy about that after buying the BZB premium theme last week and feeling completly ripped off. fortunatly, i acually read the information b4 buying. also nice to see people manning the boards again this week, i wouldnt have wanted to do it last week either, u picked the right week to have off lol
i am however gonna have a little moan lol please get rid of the :buy me” section of the whats new, it tells me to buy games i already own and play…alot. totally pointless. i dont really mind the other store icons, just them as i do use the whats new bit and it looks really cluttered, how about letting me create shortcuts to me psn games in them store/random boxes. like everyone else, i check the store on a thursday, i buy what i want, then check again the following week.
again, thanks for a decent update…keep em coming

Hi Mike,
I would just like to say we have all missed you while you were away. Think you did a good one by staying away last week, with all the lovely comments going SCEE way lol
Nice to have you back and with a fantastic update this week. I will be downloading the free dynamic theme, thank you Sony.

Hey mike, awesome update as usual.
I was wondering if you could help me with something, I bought the complete DLC pack for disgaea 3 a couple of days ago, it says in the description for it that it comes with a special custom theme, but when I go into my theme settings there isn’t anything to do with disgaea 3 in there. Is there something I need to do in the game to get it or is this a bug of some sort, I wasn’t sure if it was meant to be in there straight after downloading the pack, as some of the DLC not being available until after beating the main story of the game. I f you could help or point me in the right direction of someone who can it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, and sorry about the super long post

Great update! Definitely pick up the Themes and FIFA 10 demo, just wish the LBP demo was released earlier so I wouldn’t have wasted 40 quid on it
Anyway, 2 questions:
1) Has Guitar Hero World Tour DLC officially stopped?
2) Any news on the Fallout 3 DLC? (I hope it’s just a few weeks away)
Thanks in advance, Mike. Hope you had a good holiday and Sony didn’t pester you to work!
Posted on 10 September, 2009 at 3:57 pm by Mike Kebby
Hey Smoggy – I think the World Tour DLC may have stopped yes, and in regards to Fallout 3 DLC I don’t have specific dates just yet but they are incoming yes.

Out of curiosity, why can we not know what time the store update is due, or planned, do you not know, or are you not permitted to say it on the blog? Surely it is a case of the update already being done and just specifying what time it will be made “Live”, which is someone pressing a button on a computer?

It’s a very work intensive process publishing the stores, and with content sometimes being tweaked at the last minute, it’s not possible at the moment to give a specific time every week, sorry.

It would be quite helpful if there was some way to preview dynamic themes decently somehow. Maybe the people who make them could capture them and upload a small clip on Youtube or one of your own media sites as long as a preview isn’t implemented on PSN itself.
