Sign Up For The MAG Beta

Judging from what we read in the comments and the response to our MAG leadership trailer earlier this month, your trigger fingers are itching to wage into battle in the biggest multiplayer shooter ever seen on a console.

Enabling 256 players to occupy the same battlefield is no small feat, and Zipper Interactive now needs to test the game’s servers. This is where you come in (cue Uncle Sam poster).

To sign up for the MAG beta, head to eu.playstation.com/competitions and follow the instructions. That’s it – no questions or puzzles, just one big beta free-for-all.

A few things to consider:

  • Up to 16,000 Promotional Codes will be distributed via email on a first come, first served basis. They will be sent out in weekly batches, so don’t give up hope if you don’t get yours straight away
  • This is a beta, not a demo. This version of the game will contain bugs and other problems; these will be fixed before the game’s release
  • The beta will be open for six hours a day, Monday to Friday. These times are 5pm to 8pm and midnight to 3am, GMT (although they may vary)
  • Check the terms and conditions at eu.playstation.com/terms before applying to see if your region is included
  • You cannot sign up to the beta via the PS3 browser. Sign ups are currently PC (and Mac) only.

I’m looking forward to seeing your foreheads at the centre of my cross hairs.

Did you enjoy this?

I can’t find any information about it. Is this again NOT FOR GERMAN USERS?

    Elliott "Shijima" Martin 15 September, 2009 @ 12:10 pm

Unfortunately, due to restrictions imposed by German law, we are unable to offer this competition in Germany, sorry.

Good news.
Shame about the times that we will be able to play though :(

Entered. :) Can’t wait to play. Although the limited times are a bit of a bummer. Sure I’ll manage to get some time in somewhere though.

Just done it :)

Any ideas when the first batch of emails will be sent?

I know it says they will be sent upto the first of october.

At last!!!!!! Hope i Get a code!! Any Idea when the Beta starts?

@ adz2k7

These times maximise global server load aka US, EU, AUS etc….it’s the best time for everyone.

Thanks Shijima!

I would be interested in giving this ago, unfortunately my work firewall blocks access to the competitions page! Hopefully they won’t have all gone by the time I get home…

Why no German users? *cry

Just signed up! Really hope I get in!

OMG! Please give me one!! :D

Xx-UNREAL_UK-xX 15 September, 2009 @ 11:43 am   14

nice one!

hopefully see you all on the battlefield :D

@ Danlisa

We know about the times and dates, Just wanted to know if they start sending out today or if they will start next week etc :)

@Gameboys USK !?
Und dabei müsste Sony keine Angst haben. Titel die nicht auf einem Medium erscheinen (Blu-Ray) sind davon doch nicht betroffen soweit ich weiß. Und die MAG Beta kommt bestimmt nicht auf einem Medium.

Be very cool if they start sending today, 12 midnight to 3am tho for the servers? Very rubbish time for most europeans!

Ach schnickschnack… die sollten einfach die Codes rausgeben und gut ist ;)

Boo! Hiss!

Good news, Thanks Shijima!

A game like MAG has never been done before,on a console.
So we’ll need all the BETA testers we can get,
to find/report bugs Etc, before release.

We all want this game to be fantastic! :)

Cool 1st 16,000 people get a code…

Getting the following error:
“Based on your PlayStation Network details, you are not eligible to enter this competition. This may be due to individual country laws regarding minimum age and competition entry requirements.”

yet in the Terms and Conditions it says:
“This promotion is open to residents of Austria, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom aged 18 years or over.”

As The Netherlands is included, and that’s where I’m from and where my PSN ID is registered from, I don’t understand why it’s not working. Can you fix this perhaps?

Nice, hope to get in.

KeizerKuzco 15 September, 2009 @ 12:15 pm   31

Oh, and I’m definately 18 years and over! ;)

I don’t get it: You guys have the account-information and payment-method (to verify the age):… This has to stop, SONY! Honestly…

So now that I’ve entered the competition, so begins the staring at my inbox…

Thanks Zipper XD

KeizerKuzco 15 September, 2009 @ 12:19 pm   34

In addition to number 29 and 31 (which is me): I figured it out!

The link you’ve provided in the blog entry pointed towards the UK competitions page, which for some reason didn’t allow me access. However when I changed the uk bit of the url to nl, it suddenly worked: http://nl.playstation.com/psn/competitions/

So if you don’t get in, try your local competitions page!

I get the same message as KeizerKuzco in post 29 above only I live in Sweden (also included in the list) and I’m for sure 18 or above.

There must be an error somewhere. Does it have to do with havign sub-accounts connected or is the list of countries just wrong?

@GothPunk (33)

Haha, I know what you mean. But that Zipper dude already told us he’s sending them “later this week”. Dang. :(

All done – let’s hope they haven’t run out :D

I am paying Sony money with my CC via PSN, something i could not do if i were under 18 years… Yet still germany dos treat me like a 6 year old even though i am 28.

I´ed like to request a age verivication service for germany. Not for this demo, but in genneral, might come in handy with the Videostore aswell.

THE GERMAN CUSTOMERS NEEDS AN AGE-VERIFICATION-SYSTEM, SONY!

Hey great competition but would you kindly say which countries are eligible? since i cant find the webpage i guess Portugal aint one of them? love to see europe getting some love too and not just american users :)

I paid hundrets (and maybe more) of Euros to the psn,… and this is how you say “thank u”.

Gosh – I’m really sorry for letting it our now, but we (german) are always handicapped, because you guys doesn’t work on a solution – we are talking about the last 2 1/2 years -, that adults get their adult-content!

YOU NEED TO FIND A SOLUTION!!!

This sounds cool. Signed.

It worked for me to register once I used my country specific playstation web (se.playstation.com) instead of the generic european one (eu.playstation.com).

qwertyuiopasdfgh 15 September, 2009 @ 12:39 pm   44

Greatttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!! ;-)

Although the times of beta access are not that great for those who work… especially in CET timezone…

    Elliott "Shijima" Martin 15 September, 2009 @ 12:52 pm

Agreed, the server times are not ideal. However, as a previous poster mentioned, these times have been chosen to work across as many regions as possible. Outside of these times the team will be working on server tweaks and fixes to continually improve the game experience, ready for you to test in the next session. There are two sessions per day, so hopefully the majority of people will be able to get in for a little while at some point each day.

Hope i get one :D

KeizerKuzco 15 September, 2009 @ 12:42 pm   46

@40 Torpheus:

From the Terms and Conditions:
“This promotion is open to residents of Austria, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom aged 18 years or over.”

So Portugal is included!

@35 jens_d:

Try your local playstation homepage, it worked for me eventually. For some reason I got send to the UK page, which showed me the error when logging in. However on the Dutch page, NL.playstation.com, it worked. So maybe for you SE.playstation.com will work?

Try this: http://se.playstation.com/psn/competitions/

I hope i will get in!

original link in the current article worked for me.. :o)

Sweet,
Thanks guys… I am more than happy to participate in this beta and provide feedback. Cheers Shijima.

Ivan

it won’t work for me, when i click ‘submit entry’ it goes to a page that says ‘We are unable to provide the page requested. To continue browsing playstation.com, you can try returning to the Home Page or using search’
