‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (17th September 2009)

Morning all, hope you’ve all had a good week!

Leading this week’s update we have Commander’s Challenge, which is a standalone title from the Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 world – therefore you don’t need the full game to play – Commander’s Challenge is a fully fledged game in its own right. We also have the long-awaited titles Trine and Bomberman Ultra, so for those with platformer/puzzle and action-packed multiplayer mayhem tastes, you should be well served with these two games.

Demo-wise you can try out Pro-Evolution Soccer 2010 and NBA Live 10, whilst we also have additional content for Batman: Arkham Asylum, Red Faction: Guerilla, Guitar Hero 5 and Rock Band.

We’ve also rolled out a new line of premium themes that our friends at Disruptive Media are bringing us. These guys have already got a portfolio on the US Store, but now we’re pleased to say they’ve brought their wares over for us too, with more to follow. To avoid any confusion I will point out that these are not dynamic themes; however, we do have more dynamic themes coming in the future.

For our PSP users, you can experience the latest racing game from EA, Need for Speed: SHIFT, when it’s released on the store this Friday. There is also the next quest upgrade pack for Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, and two more tracks for Rock Band Unplugged available also.

Until next week, take it easy.

TRRRRRRRIIIINNNNNNNEEEEEE!!!!

thanks mike!

hope you didn’t get in trouble after spilling the batman DLC later week :D

    Mike Kebby 17 September, 2009 @ 3:14 pm

I had a quick play on the game this morning – great stuff :)

Nope, I’m still in one piece – I did jump the gun with that information though, so I’ll keep my lips more tightly shut this week ;)

Where’s Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 :(

somethingatt 17 September, 2009 @ 3:12 pm   3

@2:
Open Japanese account, it’s up there in there store (with 5 major European languages and Japanese options).

Trine is £17? Nice, £2 cheaper than Steam :p

And it’s not going to go live at 6pm again is it? :(

Yes! Trine! May I ask when PSN Cards will be released so I can buy this?

@2 That’s a Blu-Ray release, out in October. Wouldn’t be mentioned as part of the PlayStation Store update ;)

Great update this week :)

Worth noting that Trine *isn’t* coming to the US this week. Who says we always get everything last? :)

Edit: Sorry, I didn’t realise there was going to be a demo >.<

The US store got Silent Hill.

Europe had Silent Hill for 1 week only ages ago then it vanished never to return.

Are we ever going to get it back?

    Mike Kebby 17 September, 2009 @ 3:20 pm

There were legal issues that prevented us from keeping Silent Hill on the store I’m afraid, no update as yet to if it’s coming back.

finally bomberman, but what about metal gear solid?

Nostromo74 17 September, 2009 @ 3:14 pm   10

@5

Japanese store got Ninja Gaiden demo today. I expected it would also be the same for the EU store.

Bumper update thanks for heads up! Trine is finally here, cant wait to try that out!

Thanks man.. the updates seem to get better.. and better :D

englishgolfer 17 September, 2009 @ 3:14 pm   13

mike,

after all the hulla-bu-lul over europe not getting the dynamic themes two weeks ago, do you have any figures over how many people in europe downloaded a paid-for theme? just be interesting to see if people wanted them after complaining so loud over it…..

MarcoCivic 17 September, 2009 @ 3:14 pm   14

What about Fallout 3 DLC?

Great update this week, but where is the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 demo?

StevenHibs 17 September, 2009 @ 3:15 pm   16

Cheers Mike, another solid update, cant wait to try the PES2010 demo! Here’s hoping it goes live soon?

Awesome update. Trine, YES! Will be great to see if Pro Evo is back to it’s best and take the crown back off FIFA…

Earlly days but will there be any content from TGS finding its way to the Store next week? GoW3 & GT5 trailers ;) ;)

hound_dog44 17 September, 2009 @ 3:15 pm   18

Hello Mike

When will the store update be available because it has been a little late lately lol.

It would be nice if it was updated mid afternoon as it used to be otherwise everything else fine.

Cheers for the heads up

@Mike any word on new avatars? surely it cant be that hard too add a few small JPEG, GIF or whatever images.

no news on brutal legend demo? Out on 360 today, so im guessing it will be on the US store update

Nostromo74 17 September, 2009 @ 3:16 pm   21

@15

Its getting negative flak in Japan….

bravo9zero 17 September, 2009 @ 3:16 pm   22

Whens Fallout 3 DLC being released?
Fallout 3 was updated today with a patch for the DLC(v1.61)

So I’m guessing It comes out in Europe next week?

I thought most old PSP games would be available for the launch of the PSP GO? Or at least Final Fantasy Dissidia?
The clock is ticking until 1st of October.

SalarymanDaishi 17 September, 2009 @ 3:17 pm   24

Ah, finally! Been waiting for this update all day :) I’ll have one Trine, please, and thanks for another batch of special offers – for dessert, PixelJunk Racers will do nicely!

Hey Mike!

When is the Fallout 3 DLC coming out, or atleat tell us if it is soon?
PLEASE REPLY!!!!

    Mike Kebby 17 September, 2009 @ 3:22 pm

I know when it’s coming, I’m just going to check that I can actually share the information before I say anything else ;)

Awesome update can’t wait to get my hands on the the batmans DLC..

Hey mike

pretty decent update but has a demo been submitted for Trine?

i’m a bit hesitant to part with 17 quid for a game i have no idea about.

Oh and only one of the Dante’s inferno wallpapers currently on the store work mike there coming up as corrupted, the only one that seems to be not corrupted is the Greed wallpaper

Been refreshing my rss feed all day waiting for this hoping for some Fallout 3 update, no internet next week and I bet it comes out then.

Mike, is there or can there be an official “it’s out next week” statement from Bethesda?

– Maquis196

hey Mike its…………….

a so-so udate, any news about these blasted psn cards it september you know so where are there.

i dont mind buying em for bomberman n mayb trine but £17 gee whizz. :l

unitedkronos 17 September, 2009 @ 3:19 pm   30

It’s good to see Bomberman Ultra available but the lack of PSone Classics recently worries me. Silent Hill is now out through the US PSN but it’s still missing from the EU store after being taken down. There’s still Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Tekken 2, Crash Bandicoot 2 and Tomb Raider, a British developed game of all things!

    Mike Kebby 17 September, 2009 @ 3:24 pm

I have been doing my best to hassle the teams within SCEE to see when the next batch of games are coming, I think I’m starting to annoy people now – but believe me people are working on getting more to the store, I just can’t be specific about titles just yet.

xKillerMonkeyx 17 September, 2009 @ 3:20 pm   31

You cant release all this great stuff when i have no money to get it lol looks like gonna have to sell ma house.

jus bin on bethblog fallout dlc next week

    Mike Kebby 17 September, 2009 @ 3:25 pm

Just saw that myself too – there you go then confirmation that Broken Steel comes next week, and the others to follow in the two weeks after that :D

    I cannot wait, I am a self-confessed Fallout 3 fanboy!!

twistedintoform 17 September, 2009 @ 3:20 pm   33

probably bomberman for me and the free B:AA dlc (is it wrong to download free dlc for a game i didn’t buy but only rented out for a week? :p)

@10 – the US is not getting the NGS2 demo this week either, i think it’s been confirmed there for 24/10. as a japanese developer, tecmo are obviously looking after their strongest/home market first. i think the retail version may be released there before other regions as well.

StevenHibs 17 September, 2009 @ 3:20 pm   34

Just another thing, I know its getting annoying asking about it all the time but, where on earth are these new premium avatars gonna hit the PS Store?

Consolero788 17 September, 2009 @ 3:20 pm   35

Awesome Update, can’t wait!

2 Questions:

1) Do the DLC’s for Batman and Red Faction feature trophies?
2) Wasn’t a Brütal Legend Demo supposed to be released today?

Thanx in advance for your answers, keep it up!

    Mike Kebby 17 September, 2009 @ 3:26 pm

I don’t know anything about trophies for those packs, and the demo is only available at the moment for people who pre-ordered the game as far as I’m aware.

On the update this week…

We learn more about Mike and how he ended up at Sony.

Born the son of a Portuguese nobleman, Mike first went to sea at the age of 25. He was instrumental in the search for the Spice Islands, East Africa, and Morocco. Although he failed to find a release date for the Fallout 3 DLC.

Mike became the first European to sail on the Pacific Ocean, and the first person to lead a trip to sail around the entire world whilst wearing sideburns. Mike’s voyage confirmed that the Earth was round, release dates are subject to change and that people will complain about something even when it’s free.

er… on second thoughts, that might have been Magellan ;)

Dante_Zero 17 September, 2009 @ 3:20 pm   37

happy days are here but only let down slightly by lack of more psone classic such as MGS and RE. however this is the sort of update that we would like on a regular basis. please.

Bomberman Ultra! YES! Thanks :)

+ Any chance in any old-school original games coming to PSN?
Like – Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Scramble, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Galaga, Bubble Bobble, Rally X, Pole Position, Rainbow Islands, ExZisus, Phoenix, Return of the Invaders, Frogger, Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, Pang, Bombjack, Arkanoid, Tetris etc etc?
PSN would be complete(for me anyway) :D with all those games on PSN :)

Good afternoon Mike. I’m not happy about the lack of Dynamic themes. I would have thought that it would be reasonable to expect a new one every week. Also where are the avatars that were promised at Gamescom?
Overall it’s a decent update though.

THANK UUUUUU for this great UPDATE. Can’t wait to play TRINE, and maybe C&C:CC …

Im the last person to ask as i love hiphop and brum n bass but where is the Brutal Legend DEMO that was meant to be released today mate?

Ive seen alot of footage and it looks my kind of game plus a massive fan of jack black

Also any news on FALLOUT 3 DLC buddy?

This weeks update 8/10 (good)

@Ownage 24th September and for the next 3 weeks after that.

Hey Mike any news on MGS? I wont take no for an answer! :P

    Mike Kebby 17 September, 2009 @ 3:31 pm

Nor should you have to – cogs are moving, details still cannot be provided at the moment however.

will the store have the fat princess demo again ???

i saw it last week , left the store , went back later on and the demo had disappeared

i really want to play the demo but cant as its not actually there

I keep getting an error message when I try to comment – “Just making a few quick changes we’ll be right back”. I have to put in the ul manually

FallingStickman 17 September, 2009 @ 3:23 pm   46

Whoah, Trine is expensive for a PSN game.

SmoggyPhil 17 September, 2009 @ 3:23 pm   47

Can you kick some Bethesda butts into gear, Mike? We’re still waiting for the Fallout DLC!

Other than that little complaint, hats off to SCEE, a stonking great update again! Some offers (Finally the SSHD Double Pack for under 3 quid!), Trine, PES demo, Commanders Challenge..

Awesome!

Fallout 3 DLC is next week.

CVG have and article on it.
