Morning all, hope you’ve all had a good week!
Leading this week’s update we have Commander’s Challenge, which is a standalone title from the Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 world – therefore you don’t need the full game to play – Commander’s Challenge is a fully fledged game in its own right. We also have the long-awaited titles Trine and Bomberman Ultra, so for those with platformer/puzzle and action-packed multiplayer mayhem tastes, you should be well served with these two games.
Demo-wise you can try out Pro-Evolution Soccer 2010 and NBA Live 10, whilst we also have additional content for Batman: Arkham Asylum, Red Faction: Guerilla, Guitar Hero 5 and Rock Band.
We’ve also rolled out a new line of premium themes that our friends at Disruptive Media are bringing us. These guys have already got a portfolio on the US Store, but now we’re pleased to say they’ve brought their wares over for us too, with more to follow. To avoid any confusion I will point out that these are not dynamic themes; however, we do have more dynamic themes coming in the future.
For our PSP users, you can experience the latest racing game from EA, Need for Speed: SHIFT, when it’s released on the store this Friday. There is also the next quest upgrade pack for Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, and two more tracks for Rock Band Unplugged available also.
Until next week, take it easy.

No PS1 games, meh.

it seems the lemmings “full game” that you pay £3.49 for is actually just an unlock patch and you have to download the free starter pack as well (which i’d to go looking for). it would help if it actually mentioned this at the time you buy, since it’s on the latest screen and looks like you’re buying a full game.

This is just a Tribute!
Bought Trine and played the first couple of levels. Looks like a fairly decent game and I love that there a multiple ways to get past most situations. Plus it looks georgous
Only thing is when I scroll over it on the xmb the music for the game plays but there is no backgroud pic. Anyone else have the same problem?
PS any news as to why the front page update is getting later mike?

A little late and not actually related to this update, but after buying Lemmings last night I wondered if there was any hope on the horizon for more Lemmings packs?
There have been several sequels over the years like Xmas Lemmings, Oh No More Lemmings and Lemmings 2: Tribes that would I think get a whole new era of gamers to love the game that so many of us did from the early 90′s.

still no news on these so called avatars i see, cmon sony they are only avatars and should’nt take bloody ages get you act together, and for those that say stop whinging they are JUST avatars sure they are but when a company turns round and promises they will be here by firmware 3.0 they have an obligation to live up to their promise

I’m just a little miffed that Japan got .de-tuned first. The software was made here in Europe, but they got it there first. I know there won’t be much on it to translate, so hopefully here in Europe v soon???
Not a bad update apart from that.

@Scourgewood, WHAT?! .detuned is out! in Japan! How? Why? Where did you read this?
A European developed title but finds it’s way onto the Japanese Store first, where’s the logic in that?

Arrrghh, I wanted this so much and had accepted the price of £16.99/€19.99, but someone decided to completely f*** Denmark over exchange rates. And now some of you are saying it’s £15.99?
By the rates of today £1=DKK8.35 and €1=DKK7.44. That means the danish price should be somewhere between DKK135.00 and DKK148.80. Let’s round it up and call it an even 150.00.
Anybody care to gues the danish price? Well it’s DKK199.00! That’s £23.83 or €26.75! So I’m holding off buying this until someone corrects the pricing error. Please reply to explain if this is a mistake in the danish pricing or it is the correct price.

Also, Sony said on Watchdog that there is ‘no inherent problem’ yet every YLOD PS3 is fixed in the same way, by re-applying Thermal Paste! Which is the exact same issue as RRoD, even though not as widespread still Sonys fault!
Sony also said its their policy to ‘charge for repairs outside of warranty’. however, Sony only began charging for repairs in Feb 2009, before then it was free outside of warranty! Obviously the influx of two year old 60GB’s led to this and the report on watchdog!
Again, thats why RRoD is higher, because YLOD is mainly in two year old 20GB and 60GB, which they discontinued. I mean why would they discontinue their best PS3, with BC, 4 USB ports and all those Memory card slots! YLOD!

I lost notion of how many times I asked here for proper treatment in the Portuguese Store. I keep asking for The Force Unleashed first three DLC’s, since we have the fourth only, HAWX several DLC and the infamous GRID 8th Ball pack that we never received in Portugal.
Now, I only ask here, since you Mike, said you would try your best to make it available. Now, I would understand if you just told me you cannot help us, but instead, I see no replies to my queries.
Listen, no hard feelings, really. Just say you can’t help and I will stop annoying you which was never my intention.

@ Samii, the Watchdog report was a laughable joke devoid of fact and completely biased – to the extreme where a so-called serious consumer affairs show resorted to a YouTube sytle spoof song to get their message across.
Maybe you should read SCEUK’s very angry (and very long) report refuting the claims made on the show – the Yellow Light is a generic error and accounts for 0.5% of returned PS3′s in the UK, further the so called P.R.A.T. investigation (fronted hilariously by a known celebrity 360 fanboy on the Microsoft payroll) turned up only 10 people wanting a free fix – and nearly 50% of them broke again within a week! The fix you refer to is no more scientific or reliable as putting your PC harddrive in the freezer over night if it fails! Just like how they didn’t mention that x-ray of “gas” is something present in all circuit boards and below the maximum level required by the relevant regulatory authority (and that one of the PS3′s used was a user modded one).

I also find it stunning that a report on the cost of OOW repairs failed to mention at any point that the company they used normally charges virtually the same price as Sony do for a replacement and warranty extension! Or that the failure rate of the PS3 is well within, or even below, the average for the consumer electronics industry and that most (if not all) Companies charge for OOW repairs (if they even offer them at all).
What is even funnier though is that you’re such a troll I actually recognised your PSN ID – I’ve seen you doing negative PS3 posts here, on the official forums, on Gamespot, on IGN, on ThreeSpeech – I get it you were one of the 0.5% but is it really necessary to launch a one man hate campaign, like the big yellow “Certified YLOD Vicim” banner you put at the bottom of your forum posts? There is no proof there is an inherent problem with the PS3’s design like there is with the 360’s design.

Anyway, back on topic, the price of Trine is actually £15.99 (€19.99/1.25) it is correct on the Store…
Also is there any news whether we will get the Lemmings trophy patch any time soon?
P.S. if you want to know how good it is to have someone like Mike on the EU Blog – go look at all the complaints about the US Store update (which is worse than ours by a long way this week) which are yet to gain a single reply from SCEA…

#366 Why would they discontinue their highest spec PS3?
Ummm…. maybe because people were crying like babies about the price, so ever since launch Sony has taken steps to make the PS3 cheaper?
Think first, the type.

Silnet Hill psone classic coming back soon. When first put on the store it was put up for £3.99 but it wouldn’t cover konami’s costs so it will be re-released for £7.99. As for Resident Evil psone classics due to them being published by virgin interactive and eidos it is taking a while to sort out the legal side of things but they will be coming.

Mike, if you are still reading. Is there any update (other than Talking Heads has vanished) to the Rock Band issues? The in-game store has not been updated with yesterdays content and prices are still wrong
Going Country Pack 1 : 5 songs * £0.99 = £4.95 : Pack price £5.25 : £0.30 more expensive!
Roadrunners Records : 5 songs * £0.59 + 1 song * £0.99 = £3.94 : Pack price £4.99 : £1.05 more expensive!
Rock Band Live : 4 songs *£0.59 = £2.36 : Pack price £3.49 : £1.13 more expensive!
Spinal Tap Pack 1 : 4 songs * £0.99 = £3.96 :smileytongue:ack price £4.99 : £1.03 more expensive!
Toby Keith Pack 1 : 6 songs * £0.99 = £5.94 : Pack price £6.29 : £0.35 more expensive!
Warped Tour Pack 1 : 5 songs * £0.99 = £4.95 : Pack price £5.25 : £0.30 more expensive!
Judas Preist Album : 9 songs * £0.99 = £8.91 : Pack price £8.99 : £0.08 more expensive!
Talking Heads : 5 songs * £0.99 = £4.95 : Pack price £5.25 : £0.30 more expensive!
Pretty please can we have an update on this???

the watchdog ‘repair team’ did obviously a great job. half the consoles they repaired broke again within a week. they’ve obviously tried some quick fix solution without actually *diagnosing the problem*. the whole thing was a massive joke and a disservice to the program’s integrity. apnomis has hit the nail on the head.
if you really want your console repaired cheaper than sony, try total console repairs. they are an independent company (which game UK uses for their repairs/assessments) and are pretty reliable. you’ll have to ship the console yourself though. i think they charge about £60 for PS3 repairs.

nice to see bomberman, won’t comment on the fact it’s taken months, and i won’t blame scee that they are the only one’s who manage to delay it by such a large margin, and i wont comment on there being no demo as i got it from THE US STORE months ago.
a shame we won’t see those british games tombraider I, II or III in europe any time soon, i won’t ask if maybe nintendo are getting so many more titles for their virtual console thing with other console manufacturers games than scee do for their own consoles games because maybe nintendo actually go to the companies and ask them instead of waiting to see if they ask scee if they could do their usual six month QA so they can release their titles on the store, sorry, half the stores, for those countries scee still doesn’t provide a satisfactory service for, which depending how you look on it could include all of europe, and australia, god, they have it worst of all don’t they, and they can’t even use the localisation excuse there can they?
you know, being proactive instead of doing pretty much NOTHING.
i will ask if, half way through september, there is an official release date for the store cards yet.

excuse the little aside about australia.

Posted on 18 September, 2009 at 9:05 pm by twistedintoform
hruh? feel better now?.
do you actual ever read any of the responses or do you just like to post the same drivel every week?
some countries require BY LAW certain meta-data to be localised in regards to the store, which has nothing to do with the language of the content.
as for PS1 one games
“I have been doing my best to hassle the teams within SCEE to see when the next batch of games are coming, I think I’m starting to annoy people now – but believe me people are working on getting more to the store, I just can’t be specific about titles just yet”. – from page one of this post.
why anyone would want to play a PS1 game on a PS3 (on a psp, ok) is beyond me. it’ll look like crap and probably play like crap.
even funnier, on the US blog, scea is getting berated for lagging behind scee lately on PS3 content..
all the online retailers say the psn cards will be available on 02/10.

The text for the new rachet and clank trailer on the swedish store is in spanish when it suppose to be in english, just so you know.
Actually, it suppose to be in swedish since it is the swedish store but I think someone is too lazy to do that…

Posted on 18 September, 2009 at 10:22 pm by HazelAM
so, now it’s october for the store cards?
figures scee couldn’t get them out on time, taken them two years to even announce a date and even then they can’t stick to it.
typical scee.
this is not an anti sony complaint, sony is pretty good most of the time, it’s scee that’s abysmal, scea and scej do so much better you wonder that they’re even part of the same company as scee.
so the people sending me the abusive messages over the psn can stop right now.
if you’re going to limit the number of characters for a comment could you at least have some sort of guide so you know how many you’ve used?

This may have already been mentioned but is there any word on Final Fantasy Tactics getting an EU PS store release? I heard yesterday that it’s confirmed for the US and I’m hoping SquareEnix will be as generous as with FFVII which was with us faster than I thought it would be.

Posted on 19 September, 2009 at 10:24 am by HazelAM
nice to see the comments having a go at somebody for making a legitimate complaint get left while the point i made about scee’s excuses about legal issues being hardly as insurmountable as they’re made out to be is deleted.
i told you didn’t i.
i never said there weren’t any problems, i said scee aren’t doing anything to overcome them.
even nintendo are making scee’s output in europe look pitiful.
how many legal issues must there be getting old games onto your console from other machines?
how many do they put up? a couple a week is it? usually at least one, sometimes four or five, just this week it looks like they got two more.
we’re lucky to get a couple a month.
and nintendo put titles from not only their own consoles but also megadrive, master system, arcade, neo geo, c64 and turbogrfx.
why is it nintendo can get the legal work done and it’s virtually impossible for scee?
nobody’s answered that question for me.
http://vc.nintendolife.com/games?sort=eudate
look at that and tell me again scee are doing a great job.

Has anyone here downloaded the Uncharted 2 gamescome trailer?… I ask because it appears that the sound quality on it is rather bad. The explosion part sounds like its coming from a mobile phone lol and every now and then when I play it ( because I love the music ) it crackles aswell. It cant be my PS3 because every other video I have works with no issues.
