Due to popular demand we shall now be playing the Dizzee Rascal gig over the weekend, so please do head down to the SingStar Rooms in PlayStation Home to hear him perform. Before you do that, though, check out our exclusive interview with Dizzee himself at the launch party last night.

I really hate to leave negative feedback and rarely do, but last night’s event has really soured my Home experience.
I spent the best part of 3 hours trying to see the event. Most of that stuck in the Singstar main space trying to get out.
I can understand that demand was high, but surely you expected this. It was publicised enough.
Really disappointed and wanted to enjoy this event with friends, but couldn’t.
Hopefully lessons have been learned so this can be avoided in future.

very poor last night
if you had a bad connection the screen was interuprted and said buffering all the time
was like ”take a …..(20 seconds later)…..holiday……..do what you want to…………..babe”
started late , problems getting in
you should of had the room closed till it was ready to start
50 mins late

Part 1
“Due to popular demand”, Hmm dont you mean due to the technical problems we experiecend last night?
Not that I had any but from various videos and photos Ihave seen posted around the interweb it wasnt as rosy as you make out for some people.
Although I stress that I had NO problems with Entering the Singstar space, Entering the VIP area* or Watching the video performance in the VIP area.
*Although it did take a little more time to get into the vip area than it would just for the sheer amount of people trying to get in.

Part 2
My Verdict, It was a good attempt and the idea was there but to be honest the vip rooms should have been made available for entry earlier on in the afternoon or when the Singstar space was made avaialble, that way placing less stress on the already overcrowded servers. The space itself is good and I like it, lthough the music above the dance floor was bitty and broken in places, perhaps due to the sheer amount of load ont he servers. Also I thought the video Jukebox would show the full length music videos. Ecommerce points around the place are a welcome addition, for those wanting to purchase items of clothing etc etc. Anychance we are going to get them in the Cinema (like they do in the US)?
Anyhow I hope that in future anymore “music” promotions are handled better than this one was last night.

Hi Hentis,
Thanks for your feedback. I can only apologise that the event didn’t go as smoothly as planned, but we’ve certainly learnt a lot and are looking forward to hosting many more events in the SingStar Rooms: VIP area in the future.
I’m glad you approve of the ecommerce points – they seemed to be really popular in the instance I was in on Thursday, so hopefully you guys liked them.
I’m afraid I only work on SingStar, rather than Home as a whole but I’ll pass your comments on ecommerce points in the cinema to our Home team.
Thanks again for your feedback.

its a shame this event didn’t work out the way it should. i hope sony have more events like this and if you could next time let us know whats going on if something is going wrong a lot of people would appropriate it

Hi NeOn_420,
Thanks a lot for your feedback – we’ve taken everything on board and have learnt a lot from Thursday’s event, which will certainly help us in our hosting of future events in the SingStar Rooms: VIP area. I hope you managed to get into the event eventually, and that you enjoyed it as much as I did! (I was the crazy person body-popping for the entire evening)

fully agree with all the above,
the E3 press conference in HOME didnt go good last year.
the Ubisoft conference in Home didn’t work last year
the gamescon conference in HOME didn’t work this year
yesterday the DIZZY release in HOme didn’t work.
i wonder how many tries the technicians are getting from above

I could understand the freezing and lag as i knew the servers would be busy as lot’s of people wanted to witness this “LIVE” event, even if they weren’t a dizzee fan, like me.
I met a few ppl who wanted to meet dizzee and add him to their friends list….. although which instance of the vip room you would have to be in to meet him i couldn’t say…obviously it’s not possible for him to be everywhere at once..not really sure how that was meant to work.
I’m beginning to wonder now if there was ever going to be a live performance, especially as he was reported to be live on stage in dublin a the same time…..
And as for calling that an ‘interview’ video above….? you guys are really fishing for ‘compliments’, especially after last nights disaster

Hi Boneyman!
Sorry you didn’t get to meet Dizzee. To clarify, you are absolutely correct in that there were obviously a large number of instances on Thursday night and, to make it fair to everyone, we actually had Dizzee hop between instances, so that he got to meet as many of you as humanly (or should that be virtually?) possible.
I hope that helps!

@10
Just to point out he was jumping from instance to instance alongside MusterBuster, so he would’ve been in a lot of VIP rooms before he left.

As others have said, you really need to have a good long think about how these events are broadcast. I’ve got a perfectly good internet speed but the amount of buffering I had to put up with was a joke; every 10 seconds or so the video froze.
Either set up a longer initial buffer or lower the quality or something but as much I thought this was a fantastic idea, the results were far from ideal.
Keep working on it though, I’d love to see more virtual gigs like this and the Singstar space is one of the best yet

Hi ABC-Warrior,
Thanks so much for your feedback. I’m sorry that you had problems with buffering, etc, and hope that it didn’t prevent you from enjoying the evening too much.
I’m also really glad you like the SingStar Rooms and hope to see you there at some point. Watch out for me on the dance-floor!

Was a good night, didnt have any crashes myself but was a bit weird how the problem wascause by unprecedented amount of people trying to watch Dizzie, kinda should have been expected.
The performance was great and the space is great and i still pop backto listen to bonkers great event sony lets get more like this making the mst of home.

Hello!
Really glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully you got to pop back over the weekend to check out the performance again. I’ve spent so much time in there that I now can’t get Bonkers out of my head!!

@ 5 Hentis
“the vip rooms should have been made available for entry earlier on in the afternoon or when the Singstar space was made avaialble”
They were available all day. I first entered them just after entering the Singstar room for the first time and got the Dizzee mask.
As for the experience of jumping from leaving the room to enter the VIP area it was just a matter of patience. 5 minutes tops and there wouldn’t have been problems as everything in the space had loaded.
Yes they could’ve handled it better, yes the problem shouldn’t have existed in the first place, delays etc. put a damper on it but overall I found it to be a good example of interactivity in Home.

It was a good idea and I hope you are not put off by Friday to do it again, but you really need to practice your execution! The problems experienced soured the experience, but still it got the SCEE community together in digital form, which is what Home is all about.
It was also a shame I didn’t get to see the ‘real’ Dizzee Rascal in avatar form. We got a Mod message to say he was 10 minutes away but he never turned up – it’s a shame something can’t be done about the different ‘instances’ of the same Room – how many ‘instance’ of the VIP room were there, and how many did Dizzee actually visit?

I was there four hours before the event started. I dled the main & VIP rooms, bought all the male clothes available, then logged out whilst standing in the VIP room so I would respawn at the event when I was planning to log back in at 0700(I live in New Zealand)and I went back to bed. Over 3 hours later, just before 0700NZST(2000 BST), I dragged my bleary head out of bed, happy in my own cunning plan as I knew it would have been really hard to get in & logged in to home & surpriSING(sic)ly (sorry) had no probs logging in, dressed to the nines in my expensive gear, & waited…& waited…logged out & in then out again & back in went from main room to VIP room, pillar to post, for over two hours looking for Dizzie. I never once had trouble getting into any spaces yet the VIP room always never seemed to have enough peops in it, which the ones there were remarking on. Finally after THREE hours of waiting, I put Dizzie down as a NO SHOW(NO THANKS TO HOME FOR NOT KEEPING US ABREAST OF THE SITUATION) (cont nxt post)

and began the now physical real life trek into town to buy Dizzies album Tongue n Cheek to make up for having had missed and waited so long for the man…and got into town to find the album wasnt out till monday grrrrrrrrrrfff…(thats half a growl, half a woof lol). What happened? Where was Dizzie(btw your official SS site erroneously put him as appearing at 0700 on the 24th sept NZST which I had turned up to 24 hours earlier as well, so I had TWO early mornings of DIZZIE NO SHOWS). Whomever did the official messages for each country forgot to move the date forward to the 25th as we are +12GMT here(now +13 as daylight saving stsarted yesterday). As the 1st postor wrote, lessons must be learnt here. I’m glad the SS rooms opened, I do like my emperors new clothes(btw what are ecommerce points?) I do like the dance mix track on the main floor(who is it by? I want to order me the 12″, It’s not Kris Needs is it?), but ultimately I got up at 0700(twice)to see DIZZIE, yet Dizzie we did not get…Peace…
