Hi Guys, just wanted to give anyone who has PlayTV a heads up that on the 30th Sept you will need to re-scan your channels to make sure you can still receive all the digital channels through your PlayTV box. Simply go to ‘Settings’ choose ‘Set-up’ then ‘Channel-scan’ and your done.
PlayTV recently won the prestigious 2009 Pace/DTG “Best Contribution to Digital TV in the UK” award, which was previously won by Sky HD and Freesat. So if you haven’t got your hands on the award winning gadget that lets you watch, pause and record digital TV through your PS3, what are you waiting for?!

Recently bought PS3 Slim 250Gb. Love it. Really want Play TV but will not be purchasing it until series linking is introduced. This is a basic functionality that I have on my current Freeview recorder box and so don’t wish to downgrade. I love the idea of the PS3 as a complete media centre and have already ditched my DVD player, but Sony have let themselves down with a poor TV offering. I see it’s being talked about but can Sony confirm a date?

I heard on the grapevine that Xbox 360 is getting Sky soon, wonder how that will cope on the quality front seeing as when i watch BBC iPlayer thru my ps3 it is stuttery and sometimes outta sync.

I pre-download bbc iplayer videos using get_iplayer, I wrote a crude web page wrapper round it, and then I can play the videos from my local server. see http://beebhack.wikia.com/wiki/Programs#Platform_agnostic – the cgi_get_iplayer bit.

I’ve had Play TV since launch (Bought in UK). I live in Denmark and here there is only 5 free to air channels. I have until now been quite happy however as the quality is great. But now Denmark is switching Fully over to Digital on November 1st. More Digital Channels will become available but ONLY IN MPEG4… Is MPEG4 compatibility being worked on for PlayTV? also, is it possible with software to make the PlayTV tuner accept DVB-C Digital Channels? Is this been worked on also?

@Biphter: here in Hungary they’ve swithced to MPEG4; works well with my PlayTV. Regarding to your DVBC-related question: I’m afraid it does not work. Not only because DVB-C uses different band, but it do use different modulation as well. The tuner chips of PlayTV (dibcom 7070 or whatever) do not “understand” DVB-C.

Hi All
In Australia it is now possible to get a new firmware update 1.21. Downloading now, not sure i’m not really sure what has change. It does say they have added Australia as a region.
Also the x120 FF seems to have been removed from what I have heard from others in Australia.

Please can you fix the bravia sync issues in play tv.
1. If you turn off the TV with the remote Play TV stops the PS3 turning off over the Bravia sync. This means you have to manually exit playtv first which…..
2. you cannot exit play tv with a sony tv remote over bravia sync because there is no way of getting to the exit icon!! This means you then have to turn on the PS3 controller just to exit. All the other features in playtv are scrollable with the tv remote!!
3. As per everybody else, series link and 14 day programme please

Thanks for the 1.21. Good for Ausis and Kiwis, and for Frenchis too.
But some problems still there.
- Make my own chanel ranking.
- Fix the image problems on HD. (A lot of blocs during 10 or 20 secondes, but not on all HD channels)
