Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (1st October 2009)

So, we’ve finally arrived to this week’s update – I hope you’re all ready for the rundown, as there’s a lot of content on offer this week.

Usually I list the PS3 specific content first, but seeing as this week we’re all excited about the PSP Go launch, the new Media Go store launching (replacing the PC based Media Manager application), and the first batch of minis titles hitting the store, the PSP content list will take the headlining slot today.

The minis range of titles launches with games such as Tetris, Fieldrunners, Pinball Fantasies and Hero of Sparta available (amongst others), and these bitesize games (all under 100MB) come in under the £4/€5 mark and offer a lot of value for their size!

We also have brand new PSP games released such as Gran Turismo, MotorStorm Arctic Edge, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (with our favourite God of War Kratos featuring as a playable character) and also available from Friday morning we’ll have FIFA 10 and Beaterator.

The games for PSP don’t stop there though, with a host of legacy titles hitting the store featuring such titles as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Midnight Club L.A. Remix and God of War: Chains of Olympus. For the full list of content scroll down a bit further and have a look at the delights in their entirety!

Also, for the added benefit of those of you new to the store, or are new to the PSP family, I have provided a full run-down of all the PSP games available via the store, there’s quite a hefty amount of title available for you.

For those of you looking for the PS3 content, we have TMNT: Turtles In Time Re-shelled available (trail and full game unlock) and a plethora of demos with Brütal Legend, Need For Speed: Shift, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, and Up The Video Game ready for you to play. Fallout 3 has two new packs in the form of The Pitt and Operation Anchorage, and we also have additional content packs for LittleBigPlanet, FIFA 10, NBA Live 10 and others.

If none of that vast offering fills you with joy, delights, or hours of fun, then I have to question if you really enjoy playing games…well, do you? J

Until next week, take it easy and have fun!

Please tell us if Fallout 3 DLCs will be available in Portugal since the previous one was not.

Thank you.

Nice one Mike!

great selection this week. no doubt you’ll be plowing through more Fallout 3 this weekend?

Me and the Mrs are planning on doing some Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2! :D

    Mike Kebby 1 October, 2009 @ 1:05 pm

Yup, I have ample time this weekend to play, I’m looking to finish of Broken Steel tonight, then tuck into the other two packs asap ;)

Enjoy your time with Gaiden! :P

AcidCrashX 1 October, 2009 @ 12:31 pm   3

Shame we didnt get any of the NIS stuff :( was hoping to get a digital copy of Prinny :(

hell of an update guys! i was wondering, since daxter is one of the games in the pspGo rewards upgrade programme, how come it isnt in the update? its just a little odd :-)

Do we have any idea of what time all this PSP goodness will hit the PSN?

    Mike Kebby 1 October, 2009 @ 12:57 pm

2.00pm or thereabouts on PSP and Media Go, PS3 Store will update later this evening.

new falout dlc ????
1ste falout dlc not in belgium !!!!!!!!!!!
u gone gife us 1ste en second dlc at same tyme ?!?

All this and still no Resident Evil or Metal Gear Solid!
I know, I know, but still…

Can I ask about Final Fantasy 8…

Any news on this?

no uno ????

m1ghtym00se 1 October, 2009 @ 12:34 pm   10

So Minis look a bit dear compared to Apple’s App Store, I thought they were going to compete?

Tetris, YES!

hey mike nothing about FFVIII?

also what about prices for those psp games?

    Mike Kebby 1 October, 2009 @ 12:58 pm

    FVIII should be coming soonish.

I’ve put the prices for the new content, all the other content is already available on the store, I didn’t have time to collate all the pricing to be honest :(

Nice one Mike, Still not sure if I’ll pick up a PSPGO mind, especially as my PSP collection is kind of large and losing out on that stuff would suck considerably.

However I like that you’ve got two Fallout 3 DLC’s this week, I guess next week we can expect the next two? and then the week after a final pack containing all five?

Also, I am a little dissapointed that the US store gets BOTH Disgea psp games and Prinny Maybe I can be the Hero and we get none of them.

Next week maybe?

No UNO? This is a joke, right?

Ravenblade86 1 October, 2009 @ 12:36 pm   15

Fantastic updates for both PSP & PS3! I’m actually at a loss as to what I want to download first, and the prices seem pretty good on most of the PSP content.

Just need my PSP Go to arrive now…

Wow, I’m happy to see so many PSP games on the store, but I’m wondering if they’ll work only on PSP Go! or if they will be avaliable for the regular PSP users (PSP 2000 in my case).

I’m so happy both GTA games made the update. Gonna get them both today!

AcidCrashX 1 October, 2009 @ 12:38 pm   18

@ 16 hi Uterr, yes they work on all PSP’s :)

Everything on PSP overpriced. GJ Sony. PSP Go = epic fail!

ljforlozz 1 October, 2009 @ 12:38 pm   20

Got my psp go today it’s alright i guess and nice to see GTA’s for psp i really thought they wouldn’t come ,,, this is amazing for psp , just could do with ps1 games next week :-D just bought gex off america store :-P

I forgot a question. Is Tetris the original version? I thought that Nintendo used to own the rights of the ‘Tetris’ brand.

micromagic 1 October, 2009 @ 12:40 pm   22

Is there any reason why Rock Band Unplugged isn’t up on the store yet? There’s constant DLC but no game.

    Mike Kebby 1 October, 2009 @ 12:59 pm

It’s in the list, and coming today.

It’s a ‘lite version’ of the game – comes with five tracks already installed, but you can add more via the DLC.

fallout-dlc for germany?! and is it compatible for all eu-versions…

AcidCrashX 1 October, 2009 @ 12:41 pm   24

@ 21 Tetris is owned by the Tetris company now (thats their actual name lol)

m1ghtym00se 1 October, 2009 @ 12:41 pm   25

The full retail games are miles dearer than they are in the US, thanks SCE UK, shafted again!

elephant_stone 1 October, 2009 @ 12:42 pm   26

Massssssssive update!

Wow! Best update EVAR!

Mike, I’m off to get my dinner.

Will comment about this rubbish update ;) later when some sandwiches have helped last night’s Laphroaig wear off.

SuGaR_rAy_RiDeR 1 October, 2009 @ 12:43 pm   29

great update for the psp, just one question, will crisis core be coming out for the psp store soon? would love to see it on there along with ff7 and maybe 8 if it come out eventually :-)

a word on non-english dlc/patch for fallout 3?

RagingAvatar 1 October, 2009 @ 12:44 pm   31

You forgot Monster Hunter Freedom Unite from the PSP downloadable games list :p

Suzzopher 1 October, 2009 @ 12:45 pm   32

Yay for Fieldrunners and Tetris.

But SCEE are having a laugh with the Gran Turismo, Motorstorm and Soul Calibur prices. I paid £17.99 for them brand new on UMD. Anyone buying them from the store needs to be shot into the sun for being stupid.

yo mike
any news when cross edge will get its dlc cheers

Plenty to be getting on with, shame Square-Enix aren’t contributing major PSP titles yet, can you find out if they’re coming soon? Crisis Core and Dissidia in particular.

If Daxter’s going up, is it the updated, smoother running 333MHz version?

Croopnick_PL 1 October, 2009 @ 12:47 pm   35

WoW!!!!! GREAT update! Can’t wait to test NfS: Shift! :)
But still no PSone games :/
btw I don’t have any PSP but….no MGS: PO?? That’s a shame!

RedeyeCult 1 October, 2009 @ 12:47 pm   36

Fallout 3

* Operation Anchorage (£7.99/€9.99)
* The Pitt (£7.99/€9.99)

is this a joke? pete hines director of fallout 3 stated to eurogamer that each pack would be 6.29 not 7.99 that brings the total to 40 pounds! for all 5 packs i could buy the goty for less.this is unacceptable.your taking the mik.

FishFingers 1 October, 2009 @ 12:47 pm   37

Why do we get a tiny amount of games added to the PSP store when those in North America get 100+ today?

£225 for the console and only these games to choose from seems like a bad deal to me!

    Mike Kebby 1 October, 2009 @ 1:00 pm

America do get about 100 games today, but quite a few of them we already have on our stores :)

slayerking69 1 October, 2009 @ 12:47 pm   38

Hi Mike,
Any news on classics like FFVIII?
cheers

Arlanthir 1 October, 2009 @ 12:47 pm   39

Absolutely no complains about the content this time, what a batch of games :D

Just think the pricing conversion team are unaware of the pound-to-euro rate these days ;)
I’ll wait a bit, no point in spending that much money for a digital release when I can get the UMDs at the UK price :S

Not saying it’s a bad update, by all means, it’s one of the best. So thank you :)

Scooby4ever 1 October, 2009 @ 12:47 pm   40

Any plans for bust a move for ps3? ps1 title or fresh ps3 title?

btw.
nice update today.

Sty_Azores 1 October, 2009 @ 12:48 pm   41

Great update, yes, Turtles in Time :-D

Killer_Paul 1 October, 2009 @ 12:48 pm   42

Mike could you please include the data sizes for all content in future posts

thanks
Paul

Carnivius_Prime 1 October, 2009 @ 12:48 pm   43

Nice big update. Quite a few things in there I can see myself getting for PS3 and PSP. Kinda annoyed that I just bought Blast Factor a couple days ago and now it’s price reduced but it’s only a pound cheaper so I shouldn’t complain too much.

Is Pinball Fantasies based on the old Amiga pinball game which was my favorite all the way up until ZEN Pinball on my PS3 came out?

Turtles In Time has me conflicted. From the videos and screenshots I’ve seen I really don’t like the new graphics at all and apparently you can’t use the original. And the gameplay doesn’t hold up well even compared to other scrolling beat ‘em ups of that era, but… it does seem like it’s still fun in multiplayer. Thanks for giving a trial first so I can make up my mind.

Smoutefretter_BE 1 October, 2009 @ 12:49 pm   44

OMG, what a small update, is that really all the stuff?

just joking! really great update. Many PSP games (even many that aren’t in US, got job at those!!!!)

just a question: Apparently in the BELGIAN store all the DLC of Red Faction Guerrilla is gone! I can’t find it anywhere!

Euh, keep up this updates :P

unitedkronos 1 October, 2009 @ 12:50 pm   45

No UmJammer Lammy or any other PSone Classics like the American PSN update? Though the PSP update is a great event, I’m still worried about the lack and quality of PSone Classics recently.

D14m0nd88 1 October, 2009 @ 12:51 pm   46

Fallout 3 is just for Uk, Am I right?

    Mike Kebby 1 October, 2009 @ 1:01 pm

English speaking stores at the moment only – other countries will get the DLC at some point, just not sure when exactly.

unitedkronos 1 October, 2009 @ 12:52 pm   47

Also, 20 new PSP games compared to the 100+ titles America got?

gummypanda 1 October, 2009 @ 12:52 pm   48

How do you get your free copy of GT PSP when you buy the PSPGO?

I just got my PSPGO and its updating now.

Blasteroids 1 October, 2009 @ 12:52 pm   49

Hi Mike!!

Can you find out why some of the Rock Band packs are still higher than the individual tracks they contain? This was raised 4 WEEKS AGO AND and it looks like NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE in that time!

Or will the emu approach will be used again?

    Mike Kebby 1 October, 2009 @ 1:02 pm

I’ve sent all the details to Harmonix and they are working on it as I type :)

Dutch_Rootsman 1 October, 2009 @ 12:53 pm   50

Watchmen costumes for LBP?!? How freaking random is that! Consider them bought.

It looks like the PSP section of the store updated on Media Go already. Is there anyone at Rockstar I can harass to get the two GTA games and Beaterator on the Australian store?

Please ask publishers to price games more sensibly. I can pick up GoW:CoO for $17 bucks from a store or $30 bucks from the PSN Store.
