Hi Guys, my name’s James Thorpe and I’m the product manager for PlayStation Network. I just wanted to let you know about the latest update to Media Go for PSP, available to download now.
The free PC software already lets you manage the games, movies, music and videos for your PSP but we’ve made a few improvements for you in Media Go version 1.2.
The first improvement is that you can now transfer play lists from your PC to your PSP, so you can have specific playlists ready to take with you on your PSP whenever and wherever you want.
We have also made some pretty big changes to the PlayStation Store on Media Go. The new user interface of the Store makes it much easier to use on your PC you’ll hopefully find it quicker and easier to find what ever it is your looking for.
One of the other updates to the store on Media Go is that you can now preview game images and videos, making it easier to see the games before you download them.
Hope you all find the updates useful and let us know if you think there is anything else we can do to improve Media Go.

Have you considered similar software for PS3 users? I would love to access the PSN store via a PC, to check prices, watch previews and so on.

I can’t seem to install this, it just stops on the first stage.
“Installing Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5
One or more features could not be installed. The installation has been stopped.
Click Cancel to exit.”
I’m running on Windows Vista (Home Premium)..

Please make a Mac version of Media Go. A lot of PS3 users don’t use Microsoft products!

Yes, there is something I wish media go could support.
To be able to install it without quicktime. I understand that you need it to convert and view video files, but lets say I don’t need those features. I want to backup games, save files, go to psstore and transfer files. But I dont want to convert them, I dont need to view them.
I’m not really a quicktime fan…

A Linux version please.
Would also be great if SCEE’s PSP net store could get the same interface and outlook as the American one. It’s nice to see the file size when scrolling over a title from your PSP.

Also, a bit off topic but seeing as i’m here, can you tell the PlayTV team to make a Twitter account like the Vidzone people have done, i think it’s a better for them to get feedback like how Vidzone has improved.

Why did nobody at Sony tested the installer which is downloaded as update from within the Media Go application, if you try to run it, it will say: “Media Go is already installed”… So you first need to uninstall it and than download the new version from the website and install it again… Can this be fixed please? (for other users)
Coming to the improvements I can’t see who has come up with the idea to change the PSS-design again? It’s now looking pretty close to the web-based one that came with the launch of the PS3, but shouldn’t it look familiar to point that it’s actually the same Store you’re shopping from? They should at least have something in common, which it doesn’t anymore now… Except for the same content…
Aside of that the navigation buttons(back/forward/home) are fairly small to be honest…

The update sounds good. I never understood why Sony and Nintendo cut the shopping and “information gathering” for the games into two very different things. Movies and screenshots somewhere else than the actual buy/download link, very strange. As a mac owner I don’t know if I will be able to see the change. Maybe in the future? =) But I would rather have a great shopping experience directly on the device be it a PSP or a PS3.

@btz
Go to the Program Files Folder (C:\Program Files // Mine was in C:\Program Files(x86) i think it’s because i’m running Vista..), look for Sony Setup folder then go into Media Go folder, then you have to click the file called Setup (the one with the Media Go Logo). Make sure you run it as Administrator, somehow it didn’t work for me without doing it this way.

I have a feature which I think would be very nice to have. Would it be possible to link Media Go with a PS3? I feel this would be very useful for getting playlists on to a PS3 and for users with large libraries of music, such as myself, would be a lot easier to organise music. Its just a thought as I do not know if it would even be possible. Just on another note, on the new System software for PS3, why is it no longer possible to play music and then press the PS button to go to the home menu leaving music running in the background? I would very much appreciate feedback on this.

How does this work exactly? When I highlight any game icon nothing happens.

I’m a Mac user and I don’t understand why Sony would cut off millions of Mac users from using this software. Please make a Mac version.

Adding myself to the already long list of users asking for a Mac version, no idea why a big company like Sony can’t bring themselves to support their competitors competitor.

Once there was a web-based PSN store. You should bring it back.
A lot of people don’t like an application that forces you to install things like Quicktime and runs only on certain versions of Windows.

Implement a DLNA streaming server into the software. Support your own hardware tech fo goodness sake… You have stereos,m TVs, media players, gaming consoles and probably a host of other stuff that support streaming media, why not actually integrate that stuff? It’s not rocket science!

Make an Mac version, ASAP!
We really don’t want to start VMWare Fusion, Parrallells or Boot Camp (etc.) everytime we want to sync our PSP… DoubleTwist doesn’t work everytime….
MAKE AN Mac VERSION, NOW!

That’s a little bit unfair to users who (like me) actually PAID for Sony’s Media Manager Pro…
