Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for coming by. This is Scott Hyman, Director of Business Development at Creat Studios, and John Manuelian, Producer for our minis release on PSP, “Alien Havok”. (But… call him Lin. That’s what he likes. Don’t ask why… just call him Lin!) We are very excited about the three minis release from Creat Studios. “Alien Havok”, “Bubble Trubble” and “Freekscape” are all on their way to the PlayStation Store.
Below is the description for the games. But all you really need to know is this: Old-school, classic-style throwback to the 16-bit era, crazy new spin on the puzzle game genre, and a super fun platformer from the depths of Hades. They’re cool, they’re fun, and they’re part of the amazing new minis catalog. Does that cover it?
“Alien Havok” is available now. This throwback to classic games lets you play as an alien who must pluck cows from farms, load them onto his spaceship, and bring them back to his planet. Of course, the farmers won’t let their cows go easily.
Players must tackle wrapping level layouts, hide and sneak in the cover of tall grass, and throw veggies, rocks, or anything else they can at farmers so they can bring the livestock back to their space ship. Cows, too, will get angry when they are picked up. So, be sure to feed them on a regular basis. If you are a fan of the “old school”, you will love this sci-fi trip back in time.
“Bubble Trubble” will be coming in the near future our dynamic new twist to falling puzzle games lets players rotate and drop clusters of colored bubbles, as matching colors fuse together and grow until they burst. Be sure to combine matched colored bubbles together before running out of room. To avoid any Trubble, you’ve gotta burst your Bubble!
Three zany cartoon animal guides react to players performances as they present each level and its unique environment’s challenge. Be sure to watch out for the Power Bubbles that may enhance or impede your performance.
“Freekscape” was developed for Creat by our good friends at Abdução Studios in San Paulo, Brazil. The game introduces Freek, a cute little demon who found a holy trident which infused him with ideas of ascending to Heaven. Help Freek escape the fire and brimstone in this action platform adventure by attaching a variety of hellish creatures to his trident, turning it into different tools, depending on each enemy’s property. Run, jump, attack and solve puzzles to advance Freek through a twisted 3D netherworld.
Harness the power of the trident by capturing different enemies. While an elastic-bed-like enemy will transform the trident into a pogo stick, a sharp toothed enemy turns it into a cutting machine. Embrace or avoid the creatures, depending on their emotional state.
Everyone at Creat has thoroughly enjoyed developing for minis program, and taking advantage of the power and hardware of Sony’s PSP gaming system. All three of our new titles pack in the action and bring excitement that requires quick reflexes. The D-Pad and analog joystick of the PSP are key to bringing out such a great gaming experience.
We just know that you will enjoy “Alien Havok”, “Bubble Trubble” and “Freekscape”! Thanks to our fans and supporters that have enjoyed all of Creat Studios 2009 releases on the PlayStation Store. We love making games, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Well I’d certainly be interested, but it doesn’t look like you’re interested in releasing them in Australia, since Alien Havoc did not show up today.

‘Old-school, classic-style throwback to the 16-bit era’
‘If you are a fan of the “old school”, you will love this sci-fi trip back in time. ‘
Comments like this are really bugging me lately. I don’t want to sound mean or anything but ‘old school’ 16 bit (and 8 bit most of the time) games did tend to have much finer pixel graphic work. I miss those days which is why I spend some of time on emulators and some trying to make my own ‘old school’ games. Alien Havoc’s look makes me think more of amateur homebrew games than an actual Sony approved release. It probably plays fine but the looks are putting me off a bit.

Hey Scott/Lin, sorry to go off-topic straight away, but I don’t have a PSP so don’t really need to talk about your Mini’s (sorry), anyway here goes…
Do you know when DiggerHD will be released on the EU PSN Store? I’m sure I read it was supposed to come out on the same day as the US version, but there is no sign of it on this weeks update.
Also is there any word on pricing? Will you use the ‘fair’ conversion that is used by certain studios/publishers (see Heavy Weapon and Rockband DLC as examples), which would make the $9.99 DiggerHD €7.99/£6.99 on the EU Store. Or the ‘unfair’ conversion operated by Sony and copied by others that would make $9.99 DiggerHD €9.99/£7.99 on the EU Store…
In general terms what is it that makes a game like Alien Havoc a £3.99 PSP Mini and a game like DiggerHD a £7.99 PS3 release? There is a pretty be price disparity there – is it the HD visuals? the harder to program PS3? The licensing/hosting fees charged by Sony to sell PS3 games? The cost of the PS3 development kits? Or just that because it’s a PS3 game with trophies it’s accepted people will pay more for it without questioning its worth?

P.S. I’m not trying to be funny, that was a genuine question, and something I’ve been thinking about after reading about the pricing strategy of iPhone Apps in comparison with their PS3/PC counterparts.
P.P.S. It probably wasn’t a good idea to go ‘head to head’ with Mike Kebby’s PSN Store Update Comment/Reply session! I’m sure people will have questions for you about these games once they have finished with Mike lol

Hm… This does not really exite me… I tought about getting a PSP go but i think this kind of games are better suited for mobile phones. The modern phones like iPhone or the ones running Android and Windows Mobile are as powerfull or even better than the PSP and i do need a phone anyway. I decided to go and buy a new Phone instead of the PSP. Sony Computer Enternatinment should team up with Sony Ericcson to create a PSP Phone with touchscreen, GPS and everything and open the PSN up to App-Developers. If they dont do that soon i see them fail in the long run as more and more people will buy next gen Phones.

I feel its a good thing and a bad thing at the same time that so many games comes out at once. I want to try out more, but I have already bought 4 games today. O.o
I am looking at this as a future purchase, but for now I’m curious in the development progress of a mini. Etc, how long time does it take to make one, how many people work on it and how much planning is put into it!
