Hello everyone, very excited to say that PSPgo is out today! Available in Piano Black and Pearl White it is the smallest and lightest PSP yet with 16GB of memory built-in to its pocket-sized frame. Perfect for gaming and entertainment on the go! PSPgo puts PlayStation world in your pocket and with the strongest software lineup ever available on the PSP platform in 2009, there’s no better time to pick-up the sleekest handheld entertainment device on the market. Check out Mike’s update for all great, new content available on the PlayStation Network today for PSP.
To celebrate the launch we have two great offers to help kick start your games collection on PSPgo! First up, you can get yourself a free copy of Gran Turismo if you buy a PSPgo and download the special Gran Turismo theme from the PlayStation store on to your PSPgo by the 10th October. For all the details click here.
Second, we have PSPgo Rewards. If you own a PSP-1000, 2000 or 3000 and a Universal Media Disc and own a PSPgo you can claim your choice of three free games from an all star list of titles including Killzone: Liberation, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3, WipEout Pure, echochrome Buzz!: Brain Bender, LocoRoco and Patapon. Head over to www.eu.playstation.com/pspgorewards for more details and full terms and conditions. Just to let you know we currently have an incorrect message about the PSP Reward scheme on the Store. The message tells you to register a Universal Media Disc version of the game that you want to download however this is wrong and we are working on correcting it in the next update. All you have to do is register 1 Universal Media Disc to download 3 games from the list.
It is also launch day for minis on PSP! Minis are bite-sized games you can play on the move. Quick and easy to download and created by innovative developers from all over the world. The new minis category includes games like Fieldrunner, where you defend your tower against countless enemies, to and all-time favourites like Tetris. With a maximum of only 100MB there is room for plenty on PSPgo built-in memory with prices ranging from £2.49-£3.99. And it has never been easier to purchase content from the PlayStation Store with PlayStation Network Cards. Launching in £20 and £50 denominations, PlayStation Network Cards are a great way to add credit easily to your PlayStation Network wallet, without needing a credit card.
PSPgo comes bundled with Media Go, free PC software that lets you manage the games, movies, music and videos for your PSP. Earlier James announced Media Go v1.2 which introduces a new user interface of the Store which makes it much easier to use on your PC you’ll hopefully find it quicker and easier to find what ever it is your looking for. The latest version of Media Go is available now so get downloading!
We also have a new firmware update available for PSP (v6.10). Don’t forget to update your firmware upon purchase to ensure your system has full compatibility with MediaGo and with all PSP titles The updates include the new music application SenseMe, which builds music playlists based on your mood. Plus for PSPgo it introduces the ability to use a Bluetooth mobile device, such as a mobile phone, as a modem to connect your PSP system to the internet.
Hope you enjoy!
Thanks!
Adam

I waited till E3, well till a few days before E3 when the PSPgo news leaked and that’s when I decided to get a 3000 model.
The go is just too expensive, being forced to pay higher prices for downloads is illogical.
It’s a guaranteed failure. Save your money.

I agree that the higher price for direct downloads is insane, its the one thing stopping my money entering sonys wallet.

The product looks and sounds great for those of us who don’t have a PSP, yet. The price of the system is right despite the naysayers: PSP Go is priced and poised to compete with iPod Touch, and it PSP has an impressive game catalog (well, whenever it is available in the store).
My major complaint is the price of games. Since there is no resale of used games, no expensive manufacturing, shipping and storage of physical media, and no middle-man in retailers, I expect the prices of downloadable games to be SIGNIFICANTLY lower than their UMD equivalents.
My quick rundown of several titles showed that they were on average over 20% MORE expensive on PSN than on Play.com. This is inexcusable, and pricing of PSN games needs to change to a more reasonable level for me to expand my collection of several hundred euros worth of PS3 games and peripherals.

Just unpacked mine, now I need to transfer all of that content from my 2000.
Just could bite myself that I bought the UMD version of Monster Hunter 2 weeks before it got onto the PSN.

i agree, nice handheld but you really need to drop the price of the digital versions of the games. a lot of the older full game titles can be picked up on UMD for under a fiver if you know where to look. 5 games and that’s nearly a hundred pounds back in your pocket to spend on important things like beer and crisps and jaffa cakes.
£100 buys a lot of jaffa cakes

bring out a umd drive for it, don’t care what it looks like, and maybe i’ll consider buying one.
can the sixaxis be used on older psps?

£100 worth of jaffa cakes sounds awesome MobileTone xD
I’ve ordered one for 2 main reasons well 3 if you count that the pspgo does look fantastic.
1st reason is that my dad wanted one for Christmas (finally get my red psp back)
2nd is that you get 4 free games including GT which is sweet. Which kinda makes up for the price range i think

Everywhere in my town is releasing it tomorrow…
Besides. Why would i buy a system where the games are all downloads ad all cost way more than their physical counterparts?

Has anyone received the GT PSP redeem code yet?

Posted on 1 October, 2009 at 7:34 pm by Kotatsu2000
The Go is pretty nice if you have access to a US PSN account, where content is plentiful and only mildy over priced. With just an EU account it’s a horribly limited and expensive proposition.

Are you guys scared to mention the price?
22
Posted on 1 October, 2009 at 7:59 pm by wbrinkman
- You can only buy from PSN store
- PSN store price exceeds UMD retailer price
- Can’t trade in games when done with them
Well done.

When can we expect a Mac version of the Media Go software? I really can’t understand why the software hasn’t at least been made available for Intel-based Macs running 10.4+.
I feel that this is very short sighted on Sony’s part. Discriminating against a large percentage of your potential user base over what computer OS they use is really quite terrible.

The only function being worth seeing for me is the fact of being able to couple DualShock 3 with the PSP go. The rest is either without interest, or too too much expensive. My PSP 1000 still has beautiful days in front of her. Well done Sony! lol

@25
just saw it on the PSN after logging on with the Go.
Actually, that makes the device quite more attractive in the price point. Counting it all together I payed 250€ and got a PSPGo with GT and 3 free games to choose from (since I still own a slim).
MH:FU will be the only existing game I will get, so even with just 3 free games, the price is not that high anymore. For about 150-180€ (if you dont count the games), I don’t feel too bad anymore for getting it.

guys miniaturisation is expensive, so it’s not really fair to compare with the ps3. it’s a bit like asking why buy a laptop when you could buy a desktop of twice the spec for half the price. in comparison, the latest nokia n range phones are in the £500 range, and iphone without a contract is incredibly expensive. i’ve no idea though if the pspgo is worth 200 quid since i don’t have one (or any psp). the psp is really aimed at the gaming-on-the-go market, and in that regard it may prove to be worth its value.

The PSPgo should get some sort of calendar application along with the ability to have an alarm to wake you up to music on your psp. This would go lovely with the new calendar/clock when you slide it but also would be a brilliant addition to older PSP’s.

Would have bought it but my city (maybe it’s even the whole country) is boycotting the PSPgo … and i’m in the capital of Europe (Brussels).
Way to go Sony.

The PSP Go is destined for failure. Save your money people or better still by a PSP 3000. There is no benefit in buying the new version. Games will be more expensive and the machine does less than the current models

Make me (possible other people as well) a valkyria chronicles special addition, and I’ll upgrade when it comes out. Going from my PSPphat to PSPgo would leave a massive hole in my pocket. ;p
I can see the PSPgo as being a thing before its time.

First off I have one and while it’s a little smaller than I imagined I absolutely love it! The GT + 3 games (while perhaps not really free) do help justify the price. The PSP Go is what I wanted from the start, the UMD was always a bad idea IMHO and knowing how easy it was to ‘mod’ your PSP to play UMD .iso’s I know much of the bad rep AND WHINING ON THE WEB has come from freeloaders (read – pirates) who realised their fun was over for a while. I’m sure someone will hack the PSP Go eventually and the freeloaders will come on board also. I do feel sorry for the kids who can’t afford to get up to date games without trade-in of their old games, but whilst it is great for the consumers re-sale of software is as damaging to software publishers as piracy. GAME EB or whoever you get your 2nd hand games from are making a packet but the software houses are getting nothing back. Digital downloads work and are the way ahead they suit Sony and they suit me. I’d rather have a 16GB M2 card with dozen games and movies on than a lovely little GAME carry case with 12 UMDs in it. I’ve never been a huge fan of the PSP (Windows Mobile saw more use to be honest) but I can now see the PSP Go being in my pocket a lot more often.

i think it’s too expensive, i want to own my games and movies on umd cause i’m a small time collector and i also think they should’ve added a right analouge stick.
but as a collector i am going to buy one. eventually…

I LOVE MY PSP GO
Just wanted to say that it is everything I dreamed of and more. The screen is so crisp and bright, the controls are comfortable and precise, and the design is great. I LOVE being able to be sat at home buying new games etc without having to go to the shops.
