Including the famous “Marathon” mode was of course a must. We know, you purists out there, that the original versions didn’t have a hold button but you don’t need to use it if it makes you feel like you’re cheating – just know that you won’t be able to beat the insane scores laid down by the best players without doing so.
The 12 additional levels that can be unlocked are variants of the main mode with added features like gravity or a split. One of my favorite variants is “Flashlight”. Since most of the matrix is in the dark (you’ll quickly find out how good your memory is) it’s the perfect mode to play around Halloween. And yes, for you hard core fans out there, the ultimate level is “Radical” where Tetriminos drop on you like bombs. All I can say is:
Good luck!
The game records all your stats (for bragging rights of course) like lines cleared, Tetrises, back-to-backs etc. and the feats accomplished like Dodecadent (clearing 12 lines or more in one turn).
Think you’re a Tetris Champion? Then check out the master replays and watch the real Tetris masters at work. I tried beating Shawn’s score of 1’08” for the “Origin” mode. All I can say is that it was a humbling
experience.

Good to see an “official” version of this game, but could the developers not have spent a little more time on eye-candy? The game looks nasty even for a “mini”.

uuum when will this be appearing on the Australian PS Store honestly it’s getting absolutely ridiculous being forced to wait the extra time for no apparent reason on downloadable titles, hard copy titles I can understand the logistics are very complicated but for digital distribution it’s hard to see where the extra wait comes from

1 euro more expensive than the one in iTunes (where 3.99€ is far too much for tetris anyway). So, how do we deal with this?

#2: It’s Tetris dude, not much need for eye-candy considering we’ll all be busy looking at those little falling blocks
I was actually surprised at how vibrant the colour is!

The original is cool – but you should check out all the variants. Tetris has come a long way… and now it’s in color

The weird thing for australia is that if you log in on the ps3 store there are 6 minis, while the psp store only has 5 – still no tetris though….sigh.
