Hi guys,
Time for a PlayStation Home update…
First up, as promised a few weeks back, the MotorStorm Monument Valley Campsite personal space will, as of tomorrow, be winging its way into PlayStation Home and on sale at the Estates store in the Shopping Centre.
This mesa-top hideaway has its own crackling fire, MotorStorm caravan and a view of the pumping MotorStorm festival across the Valley. Check out the teaser trailer of this personal space below:
Not only that, but there’s also a raft of MotorStorm furniture available to customize the campsite including a sofa constructed from a mangled skateboard, the clapped out car seat from one of the original MotorStorm vehicles and a smouldering BBQ cunningly fashioned from an old oil-drum and other non-descript pieces of junk. Check out the screenshots below:
The good news is that this brand-new personal space will be available for a reduced price of €2.99 and all 16 furniture items will be available for €0.99.
Now there’s no excuse not to upgrade your Harbour Studio to something a bit more ‘rugged’ …
Next up, tying in with the release of Wolverine on Blu-ray, we have these limited edition SCEE-exclusive adamantium claws for your avatar available in Home Threads. Check out the screenshots of this awesome item below:
These will only be available for a limited time, so make sure you jump in and get hold of a pair…
Also, the Resident Evil 5 Studio Lot will be updated to include a new mini-game, the BSAA Training Mission and Adam’s shop, check out a screenshot of the updated space below:
We are also releasing a new batch of MySoti t-shirts, plus the V-Store will have an update, including some awesome board shorts for your avatar and some new funky t-shirts; a few highlights from the V-Store are below:
Finally, we will be removing the SingStar Rooms: VIP while it’s re-decked for its next event and the MotorStorm Sphere teaser space will leave PS Home as of tomorrow – watch this space for more info on its replacement…
Oh, and we’ll also be launching a brand new space tomorrow. But you’ll have to log into Home to check it out…
See you tomorrow, wielding some Wolverine claws, when PS Home re-opens.

Hi guys,
Just to let you know (if you haven’t spotted it already or been on the EU forums) that Home’s maintainance downtime for today has been postponed. All updates, as per the blog, will however be made tomorrow.
Thanks for your patience.

Hi HazelAM,
Yup, you will indeed be getting cameras, though you’ll be getting them tomorrow instead of today…
Thanks for your patience though,

wasn’t home supposed to have been taken down for the maintenance/update by now?

woow 52 post mine makes it 53 & yet 2 response we get, going back to our old bad ways.
simply put lack of communication, are info going back to the forums you give very little info my friend
you should take note of what scea-blog does, they said the space name.
like mil & i said scea likes to speak upfront about they content & scee likes to go the “wait & see it be a surprise” approach.

Oh. and also if ever we dont get the camera feature today (which shouts out “SCEE”) that’ll be a massive fail on EU Home. SCEE cant fool anyone anymore on excuses on localisaions anymore. US gets cameras and we dont, it’ll happen.. i can just see it without a doubt.
My honest opinion is this: bring out an update here and a update there wont make home a place to be for most gamers because these features are very shallow in terms of gamers coming back to home. its just a “look at what i can do now” type thing, and that gets boring quickly. “WOW we got wolverine claws…” now long long will that hold your attention??? unless your 10 yrs old. what we need is large Home app-like features LIKE the cameras and the picture frames and the TVs and so on.. among other things there able to think up.
You lot can keep home. Theres nothing there for true gamers
Home is for the casual crowd with nothing beter to do.
THANK GOD for the rest of FALLOT 3 DLC later today.

@54 KAP
Couldn’t agree more dude. And what about the game launching? Huge fail. I mean, I tried that with a friend of mine and the only thing it did was exit from home and enter the game, wasn’t suppose to create a game in automatic and get ready for play? FAIL! And then, when we exited from the game we had to re-launch home? FAIL! Shouldn’t we enter immediatly in home without all the first steps?
The lack of features… I’ll not even comment on that because its already beyong riddiculous, the standard excuse doesn’t [DELETED] me off anymore because I can only laugh at it, “localization issues”, yeah right, and I’m the easter bunny!

And what I like the most (not) is this:

Just when you think they can’t be lower that they are, there you go. Not a big surprise though.

With all its short comings of late, i’ll take this blog to the baron forums anyday of the week. a opinion equals flamming there and people tryin to gain attetion from female gamers is sad over at the forums believe me.
@57 good to see most arnt blinded by da excuses sony come out with. with all its complaining and heartfelt opinions on home you would of thought SCEE would get there butt in gear wouldnt ya?
Oh well

three hours late and nobody thinks to even make any kind of official comment?
is this the way scee do things?
don’t answer that it was a rhetorical question.

If we dont get cameras today and other regions do it will be the final straw to my ever growing image (i know mixed metaphor) that SCEJ is run with ruthless clockwork oriental efficiency, that SCEA is a massive large workforce plugging away tirelessly and SCEE is 2 people in a shed with a ZX81 and a roll of sellotape
64
Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 11:36 am by HazelAM
don’t be silly black13
it’s only one person in a shed.

drexl posted on the forums about the search for a new community manager but is ignoring questions about the delay in the update.
you know, a couple of word to tell people what’s going on could stop all this, but as usual for scee even that seems to be too much work.

“SCEJ is run with ruthless clockwork oriental efficiency, that SCEA is a massive large workforce plugging away tirelessly and SCEE is 2 people in a shed with a ZX81 and a roll of sellotape”
Thats the funniest thing ive heard in ages.. soooooooooo true tho. SCEE seriously have a bad rep and seems like they couldnt care less.
WE WANT CAMERAS!!
WE WANT CAMERAS!!

from the us blog
“We here at PlayStation Home are all about spreading the love around and supporting important charities. This is why we have partnered with EA SPORTS to produce and distribute exclusive virtual items that serve to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 100% of proceeds for these items will go to the Brees Dream Foundation in support of breast cancer research and awareness programs, so please pick up these items and show your solidarity with all the breast cancer patients around the world. Remember, together we can fight this deadly disease.”
i’ve suggested something like this for the eu home but, well, i think you can guess.
so, how about it?
68
Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 11:49 am by VitalogyPJ
That’s why this home region thing is stupid.
Does that means US care more about cancer issues, or other issues at all, than other regions? NO! But I guess scea and scee think that way.
69
Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 12:00 pm by HazelAM
i guess it means scea cares more about breast cancer than scee.
but then you could say that about any subject.
70
Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 12:05 pm by HazelAM
so now the start of the maintenance is four hours late and you still haven’t said one single word about why it’s late, it should be finished by now but hasn’t even started.
dan aka drexl even posted on the forums just over half an hour ago and he ignored the delay.
all it would have taken was a couple of words to say there is some problem or you changed the start time but no, he chose to ignore it.
that says it all really.
wanna see something ironic?
“big part of their job will be to establish a closer relationship with you guys, and to try and ensure you are kept up to date in a much more timely fashion.”
it’s almost funny.

Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 12:07 pm by VitalogyPJ
I think you can see things this way:
- scea knows how, and when, to listen to the us community about anything and really feels like they care;
- scej doesn’t even need to listen to the community they’re proactive, they do tons of things without being asked, and good things;
- scee doesn’t care at all with european community whether the subject is;

If this was a poker game I was tempted to go “all in” as home will not be updated today (that’s my guess).
Or if it is, it’ll not have camera and other things other regions will have.

Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 12:22 pm by HazelAM
well i’m off out, i expect to see home updated by the time i’m back and some sort of explanation of what happened this morning on here.
but then i have been called hopelessly niave before.

Im sorry but this sucks.
The fallout 3 pricing is just an absolute JOKE ! We are already being done over due to a terrible glithced up version of the game, with terrible freezing and framerate problems, and now were being done up the ass, by being charged £8 per pack when the goty edition is only £25.
How can a digital download cost more than a physical disc ?? The same applys for PSP downloads..

Is ths correct?
85

Yes Kayla1989!
The update was today but got delayed ’till tomorrow. What was planned to be launched today, will be tomorrow.
86

ugh, delayed!?
this is not ok, this is NOT ok.
someone’s really dropped the ball on this one.

hey vitalogy, remind me never to play you at poker, one more thing, you got any tips on the lottery this weekend by chance?
good to hear we are getting the cameras though.
from reading the forum it does sound like the cameras weren’t part of the plan for the eu but somebody realised how big the backlash would be if we didn’t get em.
i know you probably cant say if that was the case.
so, good that we’re getting the camera maybe good that you delayed to make sure we get it, maybe not good that you ever planned not to give it to us and really rather poor that it took something in the region of five hours for any official comment on what was going on.
but thanks for the confirmation elliot.

totally agree on the most part, start changing things that will keep me sumin back.
NOT silly lil gimiks like claws that will entertain me for no more than 5 mins
NOT lame lookin personal spaces where i cant even do anything thats different to wot i can do at home square
the camera idea is golden, aslong it works ok and theres no problems. now i push forward more entertainment in the personal spaces. maybe the possablity of playin music or videos i have stored on my HDD, or just a new look to the place, home square has been the same since the biggining and i just think a new look will make a difference.
and sum1s wrist has to be slapped for the lack of info about wot was happening with the maintenance/update. i got as annoyed as most of u lot.
p.s, lil comment to @54 Kap.. dont agree wit ur lil comment about pplu hu ‘have nothing better to do’ i found that insulting. if u wana be a hardcore gamer and collect all the trophies so u can show off, then u do that, but theres nothin rong wit pple like me hu wana play a few games, then chat online aswell.
89
Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 6:51 pm by Skyl1n3
I agree very much on what PieMan1188 is saying.
Also disagree with Kap as well, just because you’re the type who gets bored after 2 minutes of doing anything else on the PS3 rather than gaming, that’s up to you, but most other people want to do more than just play games, it’s called interacting.
90
Posted on 8 October, 2009 at 7:20 pm by VitalogyPJ
@88
Unfortunatly I only guess on poor things and I kinda saw this coming.
Funniest thing is that this delay was indeed because of the camera, I mean, we weren’t supposed to have it in this update but someone somehow realized how serious and riddiculous that would be and took a step back.
People need to open their eyes to this kind of treatment given by scee, and stop being soft with them.
They’ve all motivation now ps3 is selling like hell what’s the excuse now!?
91
Posted on 9 October, 2009 at 8:53 am by ieatpixels
@ VitalogyPJ
“treatment given be SCEE”, all the regions update at the same time, i don’t think it’s fare to blame one of them without inside knowledge.
@ PieMan1188
you’re very ungreatful, they give us this free service and you just [DELETED] and moan.
the RC hovercrafts will rule, SCEE doesn’t need to impress you,
and it’s not really fare to complain about the update before you know what it’s gonna have.
92
Posted on 9 October, 2009 at 2:59 pm by seany1
we get camera and its just a plain screenshot feature lol cmon lazy home team u could have made a little camera for our avatars to actually hold . also fix the textures in home otherwise camera is pointless , still no reason to use home its crap
93
Posted on 10 October, 2009 at 9:08 am by HazelAM
i thought 1.3 was supposed to have changed the targeting in home so that games and the like will be more likely to show up than other users, but it still shows the users first if there are any within a few feet of you.
a big annoyance with a popular game.
and when is europe going to get the other female sfiv costumes?
the guys got yet another costume but you still haven’t released the women’s costumes that were released months ago in the us.
94
Posted on 10 October, 2009 at 9:44 am by HazelAM
so, you’ve given us the unlocalised sfiv space, that’s good, means we don’t have to wait the usual months it takes scee to bring things out, whatever happened to the uncharted space anyway? a year late is bad even for scee.
so why can’t you bring us the other sfiv costumes?
there’s less of a problem with clothing items that have no text than with a space with japanese videos and poster.
it’s just so inconsistent, we can’t have one thing becuase it’s not localised then you release something else with no localisation at all.
same with the store, you say how you have to support so many country’s stores and all content has to be localised then you release a major set of dlc in only one language and don’t supply it to many of the stores in europe.
95
Posted on 10 October, 2009 at 1:36 pm by zonaw
Well. version 1.3 looked a bit better, but unfotunately it has not been aable to start properly on my PS3 on last couple days.. It manages to load everyting ok untill the harbour studio bar is full.. Then it just freezes.. No error, no way to exit to XMB, no reactio to PS-button at all..
Only way to recover is to forcefully shut down the console and try again. Not good at all.
96
Posted on 10 October, 2009 at 11:24 pm by PieMan1188
@ieatpixels
It does have to impress me actually or i wont buy ne ting… and they wont make ne money…
and i was moanin jus like every 1 else with the lack of info…
@seany1
if its socrap y ureadin bout it???
