Please look forward to all of these things! I’ll be back to talk about some more great stuff soon!
Cheers,

I’ll probably buy Cross Edge tomorrow morning, but… I haven’t played Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 yet, and I have it since monday (I know, I know… is a game from a different company… but it’s the last game I bought… if you don’t count Square’s Thexter Neo for PSP today XD ).
Again, thanks a lot for your time ^^
P.S.: thanks, Handige
P.S.2: Allison, if you write “Hasta luego!”, you have to start with “¡”. (Just joking… don’t get mad… but its true, you have to start with “¡”, and the same for questions: “¿?”).

You are absolutely right! I have to figure out how to do that or just speak quietly using full stops.

Am I right in thinking that the Disgaea 3 trophies are actually retroactive, so when I log in after the trophy patch I’ll get all the trophies for the things I’ve achieved?
Posted on 12 October, 2009 at 11:52 pm by Allison Walter
As far as I know, no trophies for any game are retroactive and the Disgaea 3 ones are not but none of them are based on the story, so if you have been able to unlock them before, you should still be able to unlock them after activating the trophies. I hope that works! I got it from a trusted source, the editor of the game.

Great news! Disgaea & Mana Khemia are really hard to get over here in Germany. I just bought the Holy Invasion of Privacy UMD today and it’s definitely a underrated gem, just like Prinny

We hope that Mana Khemia 1 will be available by the end of October.

Hi Suzzopher, We’re working on it, but a game you can play for up to a 100 hours, not just 14 like KillZone, hey, that’s got to be worth something.”
I put over 500 hours into KZ2 online, so I would disagree with the claim it’s only 14 hours :p

Thanks for coming on and replying to everyone upset aout the pricing, Alison. I have to say that I agree with them but it feels good that our comments are bing taken on board.
I did mean Afternoon of Darkness in my earlier post, and I’m really excited to give it a go (soon, please!).

It should be coming out very soon. Koei Japan is releasing it although we developed it.

Shame that the Disgaea 3 trophy patch will be out a little later then expected.
Still, I finally picked up Disgaea 3 about a month ago for less then £20 but I bought the complete dlc package the other week so don’t think that I’m squeezing my pennies when it comes to supporting NIS… heh. I love all the content and I haven’t even got round to Raspberyl chapters yet.
At least this will give me time to dedicate to Agarest when that gets released. It’s not published by NIS, but it’s developed by the same people behind Cross Edge so it should be interesting. I’ll just have to convince everyone on my PSN friends list that it isn’t a hentai game. XD
Posted on 12 October, 2009 at 11:53 pm by Allison Walter
The DLC prolongs the game. No worries. We’re happy you are enjoying the game, and thanks for the support. Getting the DLC package is a big help.

Posted on 9 October, 2009 at 10:21 pm by Anon_of_cro
It’s not a hentai game
It’s just a game about breeding little girls

Looking forward to the Cross Edge DLC.
Just hope I won’t get shafted on price for it like I was for the Disgaea 3 DLC – to show my support for finally getting the DLC, I buy it all (and, incidentally, the DLC combo packs didn’t include the bonus themes that the US had) the day it is released, only to find that the very next week there is a cut-price “buy all dlc at once” option.
While this may have made sense in the US where the DLC trickled in over a period of months, delaying this cheaper combo deal by a week for the European release left a bad taste in my mouth.
As an aside: any chance of getting Mana Khemia 2 to PAL PS2? It’s a bit silly to have characters from these in Cross Edge and have no means of playing the games they came from…
As for the PSN prices, it’s just another example of why the PSPGo is such a bad value proposition. Download-via-PSN-only just means no competition and artificially high prices.
This is not something NIS can likely do anything about though; but as long as they keep releasing their PSP games on UMD I’ll be happy.
Posted on 12 October, 2009 at 11:56 pm by Allison Walter
Thanks for the feedback, Zastai. I’m afraid that CE DLC won’t have a combo pack. Mana Khemia 1 is coming, but 2? I haven’t heard anything yet.

So how do you justify £32 for a brand new game when there is no shop to sell to, no truck to deliver your game, no fuel costs to pay, no umd to press, no instruction book to print, no cover to print, no case to create?
Is it?
A – You won’t believe how much bandwith costs us
B – We’re not sure that Prinny will be a success, so we’re trying to claw back as much money as we can from every solitary sale
c – We’re just greedy… And have no respect for the people who have supported us over the years.
D – Sorry guys, we really messed up with our pricing structure and will ensure that Prinny, Need For Speed Shift, Fifa, Monster Hunter and anything else priced higher than £25 gets changed to a more reasonable £20 – £20.
One of these answers should be right, but you bet your ass they’ll be sticking with the other 3.

The exchange rate is 90 American cents for every Australian dollar. So it should be 10 percent more expensive. Not 600 perecent.
Even if we take the special into account it should only be 10 percent more expensive than the regular price.
Maybe you should check the exchange rate before insulting my intelligence.

My apologies, Dutch_Rootsman. No insult meant.

Thanks Allison, I appreciate that you took the time out to read and reply to my post and a lot of the other posts here too.
I understand that there is an agreement between stores/retailers about undercutting the prices. It’s just dissapointing to see such a price difference across regions, as well as between stores/retailers and the PSN. Suppose i’ll have to wait it out to be able to purchase the game, because at the moment, the price is the only thing stopping me from purchasing it. Well, that, and my principles!
Thanks again. Hope to hear more positive news from NIS in the future.

I wondered…. when is Trinity Universal will be out in EU…
EU always get the last one to play new games :/
I hope we are not like waiting for 2 years to get Trinity Universal (out now in JPN) to play it.
Why is EU always the last to get to play latest title???
><
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 12:01 am by Allison Walter
Hi Chee! Here at NISA, we’re trying very hard to reduce the gap between the NA release and the EURO release. It’s a challenge for a small and dedicated game company, but we’re doing our best. One reason for the delay is that we have to convert games to PAL version, but as I said, we’re working on making releases happen simulataneously, or close to it.

Posted on 10 October, 2009 at 3:31 pm by SurrealNightmare
Localisation isn’t exactly a 3 minute job. XD
They usually have to support at least 4 languages with the EU release and NIS doesn’t have as many resources as bigger companies like Konami.
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 12:02 am by Allison Walter
Thanks, SurrealNightmare. It’s a challenge, but we’re working hard to get it together. I’ve always been frustrated in the past when European movies come to North America a year or two after their releases. So, I understand.

Posted on 10 October, 2009 at 6:18 pm by Chee
I’m sure EU people can live with just English. But anyway… still taking like 1 to 2 years for a game to be released in another zone… which is really kinda lame :/
Btw, another complain ! lol
Why didn’t they use PSN to update “dat” file to make their character look in at more “HD” ???? How hard to do this? I am sure ppl play this game has internet connection and willing to pay a “small” fee to get a nicer (HD) looking character, while playing.
This is PS3 for god sakes…. :p

Hi Allison,
nice that you answer to so many posts.
O.k. I have to say three things:
1. That the trophy patch for Disgaea 3 is still not out is really just weird. Isn’t it exactly the same version as the US? Had luck to buy myself an import version of the game and have already 22% of the trophies. Most will probably say: “Only 22%??”, but damn are the trophies hard. You only get the first ones after finishing the game (60 hours or so)….
2. Why do we have to wait till February for Disgaea 2 PSP??? You probably only have to upload one file on the PSN and that’s it (o.k. you need the o.k. from Sony, but I can’t imagine them taking too long). Just don’t get it why the downloadable games come out later as retail. They don’t even have to be shipped!!! Just makes no sense.
3. You heard it: Badman and Prinny are much too expensive. You probably heard in business school of offer and demand and that it touches at a certain point (best situation for producer and consumer). Your pricepoint is way off.
Else I’m a big NIS fan. Keep up the good work!
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 12:04 am by Allison Walter
Thanks for the feedback, ShinMegami. BTW: Disgaea 2 PSP is not only coming as a download, but in stores as well.

Posted on 11 October, 2009 at 12:09 am by Chee
It’s tough to hear, but I have to mention.
Since released are always late, I have already bought some NIS games from America or Asia. So… no intention to buy anything release in EU… because it’s always late to come out.
Yea, you can see that I am really hating this – We (EU) always have to wait over 1 year for a new game available in somewhere else.

We’re working on it. Believe me. See my 65 and 66 responses.

Allison Walter: “Hi Suzzopher, We’re working on it, but a game you can play for up to a 100 hours, not just 14 like KillZone, hey, that’s got to be worth something.”
That’s a load of crap, and you know it!
The US store has all these games and more and what’s worse they’re priced at bargain levels.
Prinny is $10 on the US store so why is the exact same game £30+ for us?
There really is no excuse.
And what exactly are you “working” on? Because if it’s lowering the prices then how hard is it to put a lower number in the “price” box?
These games have already made their money in UMD form, so why are the downloadable versions so expensive?
Especially an old game like Prinny. This is a game I saw for £20 on release in a shop. So why is the downloadable version £30+?
You don’t need to answer because, you don’t have one.
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 12:20 am by Allison Walter
Hi Sisee, see the response to 55 for the Killzone question, and retailers can price games as they like. Sounds like a good deal, Prinny at £20. I think I’ve already responded to why the downloadable version is £30+ in responses 19 and 23, but I’m not sure. We didn’t make the list of 17 downloadable games for PSPgo: see http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board. id=59&thread.id=43296

Posted on 11 October, 2009 at 7:21 am by Sisee
If I may add to my own comment:
The reason all of the Japanese RPGs do so badly in the UK and Europe is because of the pricing.
Why get a cult RPG for £30+ when you can pick up a shooter for half that?

Posted on 11 October, 2009 at 8:39 am by KincuriM
You ignored my plea for Jeanne D’Arc!
Can you at least give an indication about if I have any chance at all in convincing SCEE to release it in the Europe/Australia region?! How much noise do I need to make?
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 12:22 am by Allison Walter
I didn’t ignore it: see your original post.
73
Posted on 11 October, 2009 at 9:55 am by Chee
Totally agree with Sisee’s comments…
That’s another reason that I would rather call my friend in JPN/ Asia or even America to buy them and post it over to me.
Price+Postage is even lower than what I need to pay for the game in EU highly tagged price.

But, please don’t hold your breath. The programmers are very busy right now and are slow to getting this done. Why? I have no idea. So, I’ll keep heckling and if you could send an email or two to support@nisamerica.com, we’ll keep the noise up.

i have disgaea 3 (love it) and bought the complete dlc (still love it) but i have read on the internet that there was problems with certain aspects of the dlc whilst playing at version 2.0 and that was patched upto version 2.2 in order to fix the errors. does the european version of patch 2.0 have these problems and will we receive patch 2.2 in order to fix those bugs?

Hi Mr Flame Head (hilarious name!). I’ve sent your message off to the game gurus because I don’t trust my answer here. However, you might be better off sending an email to support@nisamerica.com. Many of our gurus answer these emails daily. If I get an answer, however, I’ll send it off to you.

Hi, Alison,
Thanks for the response!
Just one quick question, why PAL for EU ? O.Oa
HD TV = Digital, and I don’t think PAL and NTSC differentiate anymore?
There shouldn’t be any PAL/ NTSC for PS3 or PSP …. Otherwise, how come I can play some NA or JPN games on PS3 and PSP?
This whole PAL and NTSC thing should have been abandoned for ages….
Sorry if I have been rude
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 7:15 pm by Allison Walter
Hi Chee, Don’t worry about being rude. Some people still use their old television sets to play games. We need to accomodate for everyone. Please keep in mind that we are working toward closing the gap between releases.
77
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 7:37 pm by Chee
ok, that’s explained…
I am just hoping I am not keeping to ask my friends in JPN or US to help me getting latest game everytime they are out… while I can’t talk to them with these latest games, coz I can’t get it in EU.
Btw, I am jealous you got Prinny avatar…
78
Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 9:02 pm by SurrealNightmare
You didn’t accommodate for everyone in Disgaea 2 by making the opening video NTSC only. :p

Is this the PS2 version? Sorry about that. At least the PSP/digital version will be zoneless.

Posted on 13 October, 2009 at 10:30 pm by SurrealNightmare
Well I’ve got the complete dlc package and I have both of them fine. I haven’t used them yet as I’m currently building up my ultimate weapons but I’m sure they both work fine.
I think some of the later dlc characters required 2.20 in the US so maybe that might be the problem? From my experience with the European 2.00 patch I haven’t seen any of the common bugs from US 2.00 such as 100% dropouts, so it would appear that our 2.00 patch is based on the US’ 2.20.
Posted on 14 October, 2009 at 6:40 pm by Allison Walter
You make a point about the US and the Euro versions. We are able to improve on our titles after they are released in the US, so that the European versions are virtually (not completely) bugless. There is an upside to have a belated release. However, even the US versions shouldn’t have bugs.

Posted on 14 October, 2009 at 10:35 am by KincuriM
Sorry Allison! I thought you were from SCEE and didn’t realize you were from NIS. Sorry for hassling you!
I did buy Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness this week, which is fantastic!
Posted on 14 October, 2009 at 6:42 pm by Allison Walter
No worries, KincuriM. I and everyone here at NIS appreciate the gamers’ feedback, and sometimes it’s frustration. Yea, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is fantastic. Wait until you play the PSP version of Disgaea 2. A departure from Disgaea 1, but there are cameo appearances from the first game, new chapters, a new attack technique and more. I’ll get a post up soon. Can you tell I like it?
82
Posted on 14 October, 2009 at 6:57 pm by SurrealNightmare
Yeah it was the PS2 version though the rest of the game was correctly output in PAL so it was just a small niggle… heh. Disgaea 3′s opening works fine in SD though.
I’ve actually started playing Afternoon of Darkness again lately and trying to complete the item compilation is insane (currently at 96.25% I think XD), so I’m looking forward to news on Dark Hero Days.
I imagine we’ll receive the DLC that the US will be getting, but do you have any information about the Turo and Kuro (Playstation JPN mascots) DLC being released in the west? I know that there was a problem with getting permission for the Disgaea 3 DLC so I was just curious if the same applied here.
Posted on 15 October, 2009 at 5:51 pm by Allison Walter
The Disgaea 3 DLC is already available on PSN. Cross Edge DLC will be out around the end of October. I’ll announce it for sure on Twitter (NISAinEurope). As for Turo and Kuro, they are Sega’s characters, I think. Your guess is as good as mine.
