VidZone Update: Groove Armada World Premiere

GROOVE ARMADA WORLD PREMIERE

The world premiere for the new GROOVE ARMADA videos is coming to all VidZone PS3 users today! Their new video “I Won’t Kneel” is an ultra sultry, retro future classic that once again rips up the rule book to their ever changing sound. I implore that you check it out right away.

We are also interviewing the band next week and they have asked us to ask you for any questions you might like to ask. Anything you want,.. well… within reason

VIDZONE UPDATE: THE SWEET SMELL OF NEW VIDEOS

What do new videos smell like? Fresh of course! Like just mowed grass, like a spring rain shower, like a gently trickling waterfall, like an underwear drawer full of socks and pants just laundered by your mum. So if you get asked, “how fresh are the new videos on VidZone?” You can say? “Mmm… mum fresh”.

Lots to tell you this week so I will get straight down to business.

Artist of the Week
Whitney Houston – Not Whitney Housten as I once wrote on the Twitter and got duly crucified for by eagle eyed tweeters. That’s right “The Voice” is back and belting it out as well as ever. “Million Dollar Bill” and “I Look to You” are both brand new videos you should definitely watch if you are a Whitney fan ( which I think we all are whether proud or in the closet).

Best of Covers
No, we AREN’T talking sheets here…we ARE talking artists singing other artists songs. Bob Dylan sings the Crazy Frog, Metallica sings Enya, Ludacris sings Miley Cyrus… OK, these are not covers which have ever existed (but they really should). This week Weird Al Yankovic sings Nirvana, Westlife sings Billy Joel, Mark Ronson sings Radiohead with covers that have happened and that you can watch here.

Country Hits
I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to Country and Western, but it seems that it’s what a lot of you want in your life. So here you go, get your cowboy hats on and spurs out and scream yeeeeehaaaaww!! Actually, maybe I should just stop stereotyping.

Blast from the Past
Modern music is overrated, the old music is the best music. Wow, I sound like my dad and it’s not true, but you have to admit there is a lot of good old music out there. So much in fact, that we’ve had trouble narrowing the playlist down to a short list. But we did it! So enjoy!

We are close to finalising the dates of the new countries rollout. Should have more specific dates for you very soon. Definately before christmas is as much as i can tell you for now.

A web resource where you listed all the videos would mean people could plan their playlists offline, and then just compile them when on PSN.

just one web page or a weelky .pdf download.

Any chance you could add the Dollhouse theme song by Jonatha Brooke called ‘What You Don’t Know’ ? I just love that song and I would think it is the sorta stuff fitting the PS3 Vidzone demographic pretty well

Hey vidzone is one of the coolest things to come out so far but no more adverts when your playing music in your play list. If i am having a party people dancing drinking having a good time then bang advert kills the mood you don’t have it in a club so keep it to outside of play lists.

I see what you are saying, but you pay to get into a club then pay for drinks, so the club makes money. We don’t charge anything so we have to make the money we need to run the service through other ways and that means advertising i’m afraid. I understand that it can be a little annoying, but we try and keep them as subtle as possible.

Add some more Korn videos please. Korn were with Epic Records (Sony…) for 10 years, so all of their pre-2005 stuff should be on VidZone already.

Disappointed there are no demos!!

I may not have tried all that’s there but without demos I don’t buy games! Demo’s are very important to sales! With games costing more and more I don’t risk wasting money!

Hey Ben thanks for the update…any news on EMI or Warner deals because I am seriously missing my rock…I don’t know if u just aren’t posting about rock and metal videos but there is still very little videos from these genres arriving on vidzone…any update on thus would be appreciated! I know you are trying your best btw

Hi. This may be a minor issue and a huge showing of my OCD tendencies but is there anyway an update to VidZone could reposition it’s icon in the XMB?
The features of both Photo and Video categories (the Photo Album and PSN Store icon) appear as the first icon in each list but under Music the VidZone icon appears above and has to be scrolled too, which by itself isn’t major, but it has led to my using the application less as sometimes I simply forget that it’s there! Being in plain sight would be a better aesthetic choice and the increased visibility would lead to more usage, it’s positioning as is looks very sloppy
Any chance of this being able to be changed?

Hi there,
Will the button mapping be fixed in a future version?
I wonder why, contrary to the vast majority 99.99% software including games, psn games, bundled sofware and Home etc., Vidzone has its own button mapping instead of using PS3 system configurated buttons.

I’m not asking for a button swap, I’m asking for something normal. It won’t change anything for current euro-ps3 users. It will just re-activate proper button mapping for jpn-ps3 users.
