Welcome to our second blog post to celebrate the launch of Motorstorm Arctic Edge. As a treat for the millions of Motorstorm fans, The team here at Bigbig decided we’d let you into some exclusive secrets about the game. This is the first time we’ve let this info leak out – but remember, you didn’t hear it from us
.
Skills = Badges
The badges look cool, and are the equivalent to trophies for experts at Arctic Edge. Some of them need skill e.g. Win a race without boosting and others, such as getting a 1080 spin on the bobsleigh corner are just plain fun. The question is – can you get them all?
15 More Maniacs
Some of you may have noticed that the enemy racers in Arctic Edge have real personalities, and you’ll see them challenging you over and over again in the Festival. Each of the 15 maniac racers has their own recognisable vehicles, so when you get smashed into the wall or overtaken on the last corner, you know who to blame!
You may also have spotted the empty slots in your character select, and if you put the time into getting golds in the Festival, all15 characters and all their paintjobs will be yours.
Show it off with Photo Mode
Photo mode is a cool addition to Arctic Edge, here at the team we’ve used a special version to create all the screen-shots you see in the magazines and online. It’s also great for showing off your crazy or cool vehicle customisations – share the pictures with your friends and see who can come up with the most awesome vehicle!
Top Secret – Killzone, Pursuit Force, Wipeout and Little Big Planet in Motorstorm Arctic Edge!
Here’s the big reveal for this post – we’ve hidden some extra special prizes in Motorstorm Arctic Edge for true arctic explorers. We’ve got custom paintjobs for some of the vehicles, game themed stickers and emblems, and even a couple of characters from these classic PlayStation games.
And how do you get a piece of that action? 20 of the 24 tracks in the game have an emblem hidden somewhere in the scenery. You’ll have to look all around you in Photo Mode, and if you can photo 5 of a particular emblem, you’ll get a prize. Watch out though – some of them are really well hidden. Get together with your friends and see if you can track them all down, then get on Multiplayer to show off your rewards!
For our third and final post, we’ll be giving you some tips on customising your off-road vehicle, and how to get the most out of Multiplayer. And remember – I want to see some of those secret paint-jobs in the online games when I get back

Yeah, it adds a nice change of pace to the game. They’re not easy to find though -I helped make the game and I still haven’t snapped them all! Now if I can just track down that last Killzone emblem…

Hi,
I don’t have the exact date for the demo, but I should be able to let you know in next week’s blog.

Hey guys, as we’ve been cooped up in an office making the game for a couple of years, and you are seeing it with fresh eyes, I’d be really interested to hear what are your favourite bits of Motorstorm Arctic Edge…

Love Motorstorm, and loved what you guys did with Pursuit Force. Will buy this as soon as I get my PSP back. =)
You guys should think of moving over to PS3 development.

Hi Shakh – Glad you like them. Pursuit Force Extreme Justice was the ultimate shooting/driving/action game for us (I’m playing through on the hardest difficulty right now), but when you look at Motorstorm Arctic Edge it’s great to see how far our games have advanced in a couple of years!

P.S. Arctic Edge is my all time favourite PSP off road racing game – but I am slightly biased

Thanks for answering my question Simon.
You guys at BigBig are great developers and this game looks fantastic. Love the fact that you made a making of video and are writing posts on the blog. Shows you care about the game AND the Playstation owners. I’m slightly tempted to buy pursuit force now!

I’d recommend Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice if you’re new to the jumping between vehicles action game. The first one is still a great game, but it’s a real challenge if you’re used to the relaxed difficulty curve of Motorstorm! (for more details, check out http://www.pursuitforce.com)

Normal difficulty was hard on enough for me on PF. It’s one of those games that whips my bum and I like it. ;p

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, here at Bigbig we love making games, and it’s cool to hear what you all think. I may be back to check later on – if not, have a great weekend and I’ll be back next week with some tips on Multiplayer and Vehicle Customisation

Yeah, the challenge builds up at rank 4 for me. Not too hard yet, but I’m no longer way ahead the others.
I understand that there is a lot of custom parts, but it feels restricted when I pretty much only have part of each thing. So in the beginning I can mark parts, but I cant do anything to change it. So you are stuck with quite a default car. Not a gamebreaker by far, just wish I had some more options to begin with.
The part I enjoyed the most was the photocam, a great surprise that really let me enjoy even hectic (and painful) crashes from good angles and save them.
I enjoy behind the scenes video. Would to see more things such as map overview, stresstest, the full overview of avalanches, etc.
(It could be in any bonus video, but I have yet to unlock them)

Hi Simon,
I got an email from Sony saying that the MotorStorm: Arctic Edge demo is now available on the store, and it also provides a link to the store to download it via Media Go. The link doesn’t go to the download, and as far as I know the demo isn’t on the store.
Not sure if you know that Sony are telling people to download something that isn’t there, so I thought I’d let you know

I am saddened to see that my favourite rival Leethal Docherty didn’t qualify for the Arctic Edge festival.
