Howdy folks.
I’ve noticed that a few corners of the internet picked up on a comment I made last week saying that this week would be a big update, I just wanted to put it into context before I began, the full comment was ‘Well next week is going to be a mammoth update in comparison – I can tell you all that much”, I think the key wording here is ‘in comparison’.
I’ve set this up like it’ll be a small update now haven’t I? Well, I’m only toying with you dear reader
, this week is a veritable feast of goodness, so join me as we jump into today’s update to savour the tasty delights that will befall you later today.
Seeing as Halloween is round the corner we have some suitably apt content, in the form of Zombie Apocalypse, the mini title Zombie Tycoon, Elvira makes an appearance in Pain, the Pumpkin mask returns for one week in LittleBigPlanet and even Guitar Hero and Rock Band are getting into the spirit.
Full games line up in the shape of Hasbro Family Game Night for the PS3, and LocoRoco Midnight Carvnival, Crystal Defenders, Super Monkey Ball Adventure and Football Manager Handheld 2010 for the PSP.
Then we get all demo-tastic with two Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time demos, one featuring Ratchet and the other featuring, yes that’s right, Clank. Fat Princess, Trine, Zombie Apocalypse and Dragon Ball Raging Blast make up the rest of the PS3 demo list. For the PSP you can sample LocoRoco Midnight Carnival, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe and Crystal Defenders.
Then (yes there’s more) you can get hold of downloadable content for EyePet, Cross Edge, Beatles: Rock Band, DJ Hero and Trivial Pursuit, finished off with a light smattering of trailers and themes.
Finally, for our German speaking friends you can get hold of all the additional Fallout 3 packs this week, and we’ve also added the English language version of the packs onto the Portuguese and Dutch stores too.
Now for a small announcement, this is advance warning about next week; we are only releasing a small update next week as we have some behind the scenes work (nothing exciting, but necessary) underway, so we’ll have minimal time to update the store – normal service will resume from the 12th however.
Okay, now for the fun stuff – get commenting!

One question mike:
If you download a PSP game to your PS3 and then copy it to the PSP: Does this count as 2 “user-downloads” or as one? Usage is limited to 5 isn’t it?
It’s a little bit off the topic, but…
Posted on 29 October, 2009 at 3:24 pm by Mike Kebby
Good question – it should only count as one really, but I’ll check.

Thanks Mike.

Aw you haven’t been able to fully explore Pandora??
Don’t worry, to make up for it once you get online I’ll give you my Rocket Launcher with a x4.3 Zoom Scope, that shoots 3 Rockets at once in a helix formation (using only 1 rocket ammo!)… oh and the rockets also set things on fire.

Another week, another, albeit very slight, disappointment. Where, oh where is Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness for PSP? NIS said it’d be the next few weeks at the start of October. They’ve really missed a trick. It’s Halloween this weekend and that would have been a perfect time to launch the re-release.
Right, positive note time. Rachet and Clank demoes. Brilliant been waiting for those. Awesome.

LocoRoco on PSP, really interested in that. Gonna get it.
Free LBP stuff is always welcome!
…Wait Zombie Apocolypse? It’s out? You didn’t mention this in the intro Mike! This is brilliant, been waiting for that for ages. See, they didn’t miss the marketing opportunity. Gonna get that too.
Luckily I’ve been saving my pennies…

Posted on 29 October, 2009 at 3:23 pm by DaisukeAndo
Nothing for me I’m afraid. But my god NIS love charging people for tiny DLC that tbh shouldve been included in the game anyway or at least bundled into one set DLC eh?
Hmmm was hoping for FFVIII though
, that wouldve kept me occupied untill FFXIII in December!

But I want to ask when Adidas Live Season will have fixed in Saudi Arabia Store ??
I bought it since a month and I can’t download it till now

The patch went live last week and the Live Season pack is available again now, so it should all be working fine.

I have a PSP Go, is it possible for you (SCEE) to maybe perhaps add some games to the store so that I and other PSP Go owners can be able to buy some games for our system? Please, please, please! Maybe some great Capcom, Konami and Square games? That would be lovely! Kthxbai!

Will give a try with Fat Princess, but still expect a price drop to £9.99 and squad support.
Pixel junk Monsters Deluxe is Brilliant, bought it on day one… strongly recommend it.

This could’ve had nothing but LocoRoco and I would have been happy. But two Ratchet demos and one for DragonBall (I have a soft spot for it I just can’t quite give up), I’ll be satisfied for a bit until I get the money to join the rest of the world in owning Uncharted 2.

Posted on 29 October, 2009 at 3:26 pm by Blasteroids
Mike those offenders should be pulled from the store and not left up for weeks and weeks.
Store quote “This song game track pack includes 5 song game tracks at a discounted rate over individual purchases”.
I hope SCEE will refund the difference to anyone who downloaded any of these packs under false claims.

Re Final Fantasy VIII “No dates to confirm just yet.”
It is still coming eventually though, right? Just want to make sure that we don’t keep waiting and then not getting anything, like it was with MGS.

Posted on 29 October, 2009 at 3:28 pm by noruraeus
Hi Mike, great update. And as for Demons Souls, it is a really nice game, tell whoever is in charge of disc based publishing at SCEE that SCEE should offer to be the European publisher. If you can publish Dirt 2 then you for sure should be able to handle a triple AAA ps3 exclusive

I’ll have a pop at Zombie, Trine, Dragon Ball and maybe one or two of the themes will do.
My Limited Edition Tekken 6 should arrive tomorrow so I can spend too much.

I see nothing on the schedule for a Dragon Age demo at the moment.

Nice update, the demos will be mine and I’ll even give the Zombie one a go to see if it’s worth getting. I was going to buy Trine blind next week anyway, once I finish my FIFA Managers Season, but having a demo first is a nice bonus!
I know you can’t post sizes without downloading them first, but do you know how big the R&C demos are? I heard it was split into two because as a single file it exceeded the Store size limit!
Also I know you said it was nothing interesting going on next week, but I’m going to pretend it’s actually the foundation for imminent launch of the video store and avatar store
Is the video store a new team then, even though it’s the same store interface? Will it update on a different day to the game store?
P.S. You do realise warning people of a small update will make no difference, people will still come here next week and post unreasonable criticisms about the lack of content!!! But I’m sure you’re well use to that by now!
Posted on 29 October, 2009 at 3:36 pm by Mike Kebby
Not sure of the exact size of the demos, but they are big
I promise you it’s nothing interesting for you lot – just routine stuff really, but it has to be done.
Video Store is a new team – my sanity could not cope looking after another storefront – not sure of update days either just yet.

Glad Trine got a demo now. Full version is a bit expensive to just ‘have a go and see’ like the cheap games. I’ll get Elvira for PAIN and I already mentioned I’ll download the R&C demos. I’ll try the zombie apocalypse demo I guess though I’m sick of zombies in games (and vampires in TV/films) right now. Need more werewolves (buying that Home costume for sure). Grabbing me the LBP and Eyepet content too.
By the way who do I have to harrass non-stop to get Castlevania – Symphony of the Night on our store? The US and Japanese have had it for about 2 years now and it is by far and away my most favorite game for PS1. And yeah I got the PSP port but I want it on my PS3′s drive like them other folk do. Ridge Racer Type 4 is my favorite racer on PS1 but I don’t see that either. Seems like the PS1 games we get lately are all Disney related.

this week it really is huge update compared to last weeks updates:) R&C-demos were the best part… …and hopefully we can get a couple of PSone classics before the end of the year.

Nope – our pricing is correct by what was submitted to us – I think the pricing on that link is the conversaion rates for the MSP system.

I’ve always wondered this Mike.
The US store has a ton of PS1 cassics (Tomb raider,MGS,Resi,Oddworld)
Why can’t SCEE release the English localized content,
To English speaking store’s? (Like UK, Australia/new Zealand)
Then release the other countries content, when they have it.
Why can’t they do this?^
Posted on 29 October, 2009 at 3:43 pm by Mike Kebby
Because it’s very rarely to do with localisation – the main issues are licensing and legal reasons.
