Howdy folks.
I’ve noticed that a few corners of the internet picked up on a comment I made last week saying that this week would be a big update, I just wanted to put it into context before I began, the full comment was ‘Well next week is going to be a mammoth update in comparison – I can tell you all that much”, I think the key wording here is ‘in comparison’.
I’ve set this up like it’ll be a small update now haven’t I? Well, I’m only toying with you dear reader
, this week is a veritable feast of goodness, so join me as we jump into today’s update to savour the tasty delights that will befall you later today.
Seeing as Halloween is round the corner we have some suitably apt content, in the form of Zombie Apocalypse, the mini title Zombie Tycoon, Elvira makes an appearance in Pain, the Pumpkin mask returns for one week in LittleBigPlanet and even Guitar Hero and Rock Band are getting into the spirit.
Full games line up in the shape of Hasbro Family Game Night for the PS3, and LocoRoco Midnight Carvnival, Crystal Defenders, Super Monkey Ball Adventure and Football Manager Handheld 2010 for the PSP.
Then we get all demo-tastic with two Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time demos, one featuring Ratchet and the other featuring, yes that’s right, Clank. Fat Princess, Trine, Zombie Apocalypse and Dragon Ball Raging Blast make up the rest of the PS3 demo list. For the PSP you can sample LocoRoco Midnight Carnival, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe and Crystal Defenders.
Then (yes there’s more) you can get hold of downloadable content for EyePet, Cross Edge, Beatles: Rock Band, DJ Hero and Trivial Pursuit, finished off with a light smattering of trailers and themes.
Finally, for our German speaking friends you can get hold of all the additional Fallout 3 packs this week, and we’ve also added the English language version of the packs onto the Portuguese and Dutch stores too.
Now for a small announcement, this is advance warning about next week; we are only releasing a small update next week as we have some behind the scenes work (nothing exciting, but necessary) underway, so we’ll have minimal time to update the store – normal service will resume from the 12th however.
Okay, now for the fun stuff – get commenting!

Hm at least we (users) should get some kind of status update by mods/operators about whats going on with missing DLC for Fallout 3 and Hasbro Family Game Night. They´re not in the list and no explanation given.

@287 – Crystal Defenders? Well, there are demos for each of the PS3 and PSP versions so give them a whirl. Opinions? A bit meh, based on the demo. Just an emulated lo-res tower defense, not special. Others may have different opinions. See reviews on Metacritic.
As for people wondering about the content of Hasbro Family Game Night, according to the store it contains six games (if it’s on your store, otherwise none
) – Battleship, Yahtzee, Boggle, Connect Four, Sorry! and ‘Sorry! Sliders’. [Standard disclaimer: These game names are all trademarks of Hasbro.] — all in all, not even vaguely tempting at that price.

By the way, I thought it a great update – loads of stuff. More than I expected, but then I go through life with low expectations so am more likely to be pleasantly surprised.
I’m guessing this week’s detractors have a lot more free time on their hands. I’m just glad all weeks aren’t like this or I’d despair for the time to try all this stuff. There are NINE demos and trials if you’ve got both systems. Yikes! Thank god FFVIII isn’t also out or I’d have to quit my job.

Price for Hasbro Family Game Night is redicilous yes, but it will certanly give many hours of fun for my family and friends, and an easy platinum is never wrong

i saw the list someone posted about psone games released in the us and here in europe and i died a little inside…..

ow, i want more dragon age content, much more.
btw the eye pet wallpaper is cute especially at night.
so how is your family and pets mike? they doing ok?

Great update Mike, I have all five PS3 demos downloading at the moment. Is there any news of a demo for Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier being released sometime in the future?

Awesome Update Mikey Mike ^__^ but theres 1 problem you clearly wrote Fallout 3 packs in english for the portuguese and dutch stores but i just passed by my portuguese account and its all there updated EXCEPT the Fallout 3 packs. so was it like kaze-san said did the Fallout 3 packs overslept and missed the update to our store or something?
plz Mikeface give me & the community a reply on the matter as soon as possible.

Haven’t had a good update since the release of FFVII.
Shame on you for getting people’s hopes up Mike, least we’re prepared for mediocrity next week.
My PSPgo is gathering gust. I paid $450 for it and all the games are $50+ each. You figure Sony and publishers would try and compensate for the fact that they don’t have to pay for packaging and pay less for distribution by dropping prices. But instead we get shafted on both fronts.
Not happy at all, get your act together store team!

Mike seems to disappear when criticism ensues after another botched update (which is pretty much weekly atm). Which, to be honest, I can sort of empathize with on a personal level.
Still, I think it’s amazing how Sony responds to (or rather ignores) criticism, be it about firmware or store updates. Grow a pair and tell us what went wrong already!

Here’s a few questions for you Mike.
1 Why don’t you use the same store layout as the US as the UK site is a nightmate to navigate. The US store has little touches like instantly being able to find all games that support trophies, to banner scrolling the size of PSP games.
2 Why isn’t Sony doing everything it can to make the PSPgo a success? I paid £225 for my Go and while the machine is a great bit of kit, the fact I can’t play games likes Dissidia and the many classics that are already available on the US store is truly shocking. Also sort the prices out. Sony’s own pricing is fine, but letting the likes of Rockstar and Sega charge anything up to £36 for a digital download is disgraceful.

Yet another lacklustre update for people like me who stupidly went out and bought a Go thinking Sony would put some effort into it as opposed to their half-assed approach to almost everything else.
And next week will be worse? Jesus H. Christ.

Hi Mike forget the PS1 classics when are we getting jet set willy & manic miner on the store.
Seriously Mike you do a good job but i don’t know how you cope with the garbage that is directed at you as i cringe while reading some of these comments.
Its only a game console folks maybe you shouldn’t take things so serious, go to the pub have a beer and maybe get laid, you will feel a lot more relaxed.
So Mike what is your costume for Saturday?
Posted on 30 October, 2009 at 9:04 am by Mike Kebby
To be honest I’m not really coping anymore – I’m slowly being beaten down…
Quite aptly I’ll be going out on Halloween in a straitjacket costume – suits my frame of mind right now.

mike u might recall last week i said i was getting oddworld off the US store, and might pick up zombie apocolypse while i was there, well, i decided to wait till this weeks update, befor buying anything, BUT ALAS, oddworld aint here, and it wont be here next week either, infact based on ur comments about it, it probbaly wont be here 3 weeks from now, SO, ill be doing everything in my power to get it off the US store, i mean it this time,
we have another problem as well, atm, zombie apocolypse doesant seem to be on the AU store, i have a friend who said it will never be o nthe AU store considering wat the games rated + australia’s unfathomably retarded rating system, so i wont be surprised if it doesant show up, in wich case ill just get it off the US store.

Mike, any chances of marking the PS One games as such? Now they are labeled just as “Games” and that can be very misleading. USA and Asia stores mark these as Classics or PSX Originals and so on, why not in the euro-store?

hey mike can you do me a massive favor?
see if some of the content can be compressed like the demos, i really want to try out both R&C demos but since i went over me download limit my speeds are down to a crawl.
well 12 hours downloading qore and its only done 64MBs thats how slow.
so imagine how long it would take to download both demos, it would be a massive help if the demos were compressed to a smaller size.
thanks

Another week – another fail!
Trine – demo = good, price = fail.
Most asked for and wanted items (ps1 games) still not on store.
And when SCEE do let them out whats the betting they will be £7.99 or even £9.99. Instead of £3.99
Why the hell did I buy a PSPGO!

So I was wondering…
When will there be new PSN user avatars/icons available for us to use and/or purchase?
It has been said at GDC this year that there will be new ones very soon.
So far, nothing has changed. We’re still stuck with the small library of old, boring avatars

nice update, there’s a few things I want but they’ll have to wait until things are a bit quieter on the game front. I already have a few games I’ve yet to play and the year isn’t over yet, that and I keep going back to Demons Souls.
You should try videogamesplus.ca for a copy of Demons Souls Mike, they have it in stock. It truly is an amazing experience and my GOTY.

OK, I’m not calling this weeks update bad, in fact I think it’s very good (even though it doesn’t have the stuff I would really want), but I thought this was pretty funny:
“There are three PSP demos this week – let’s wait and see how many the US store has this week…”
The US store got four.

Hi Mike.
I stupidly cross-graded to a PSP Go and I regret my decision to do so more and more every week when the store is updated, I really wish I’d kept my old PSP 2000 and my UMD’s.
Whatever happened to all PSP games released on UMD will simultaneously be released on the PSN, will this every happen, or was it Sony talking rubbish as usual?
Please answer this for me, I’ve shelled out a lot of money on this PSP Go, and what rubs salt in my wounds even more is that when you do actually add a title to the store the same time it is released on UMD you sell it for a ridiculously over inflated price, I mean come on Football Manager Handheld – £35.99 are you serious?! Shopto.net have it for £22.99.
I really believed in Sony when they launched the PSP Go, it’s definitely the way forward, but Sony along with the publishers seem to want to kill it off before it’s begun.

Posted on 30 October, 2009 at 11:11 am by Kazemaru-san
@300: Since I have Collector’s Edition, obviously I won’t sell it just to get a GOTY which has more bugs.
Anyway, any news on Fallout 3 DLC on the Portuguese store? What happened this time? Is “the chase” over or still going?
